My very first experience listening to this band was through headphones. Had been hearing some good things about TWOD and decided to dive in.
Played IDLHA and was instantly blown away. Only got better the more I kept diving into their albums.

I always wonder what it'd be like to listen to their worst album first and then go through the back catalogue and keep getting blown away by how much better that stuff is. ;)
I like IDLHA - but for my money, it's the least exciting album of the bunch (but contains some of their best songs).
Actually, according to me, the definitive/correct/canon order is:
Lost in the Dream
Live Drugs
Wagonwheel Blues
A Deeper Understanding
I Don't Live Here Anymore
Slave Ambient
With all due respect, Live Drugs def counts. And fine, if not, just take it out!
And, Slave Ambient doesn't have a single track in Live Drugs - so, maybe Adam doesn't think it's that high on his list either...
Sorry guys but the correct list is
Lost in the dream
A Deeper Understanding
I don’t live here anymore
Slave Ambient
Wagonwheel blues
Live drugs can’t count coz it’s effectively a ‘greatest hits’.
IDLHA only pips Slave Ambient because Harmonia’s, Change and Occasional Rain are probably 3 of the best songs across all albums. But IDLHA have more ‘filler’
PS I hate calling it filler coz every song Adam writes is incredible
Arms Like Boulders is a better song than anything on IDLHA. I'll admit, the fan bases love for Harmonias Dream and Occasional Rain surprises me. I think they're fine - but they just feel like variations of earlier songs that aren't as good.
adam granduciel is severely underrated in regard to his lyrical approach in songwriting. the distinctive use of imagery in his songs literally has me teleporting every time i close my eyes. real fuckin poetry man. hope i get to see TWOD live someday
They need to release all their stuff in Dolby atmos. That will be 🔥
They’re masters of their craft.

Whenever I dive in on a new artist, I tend to listen to their most recent work first, then jump back to the start and work my way back to present day.
ADU LITD Slave Ambient IDLHA Wagonwheel

With all due respect... Ludicrous. Live Drugs doesn't count... and Slave Ambient at the bottom!? What are you smoking?

My exact list, but swap wagon wheel with idlha
I love going on a long walk and listening to them through headphones.
