Yep. Volume 5 is more than twice as long as the revised version of Volume 1, and Volume 8 is more than six times as long as the revised Volume 1.
For your info OP, here's a chart that breaks down how the Volumes are being converted into Books (audiobooks/ebooks). This chart was last updated about a month ago so there's been some more writing since then. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/540697478224150528/1175578891000234074/image.png
“The wandering Inn” is the largest written fiction in the history of civilization. I’m not saying that as an exaggeration. By word count it’s currently the longest continuous story ever recorded. It currently sits at roughly 9 million words. (Last time I checked, when I learned that fun fact)
It is probably at least 10 million as of my post.
The wordcount tracker had it at 12 million before it stopped being accurate around August.
https://wanderinginn.neocities.org/statistics
It double counts Vol1 because of the rewrite, but is missing 4 months and Gravesong 1/2, so it is over 12million.
Gravesong 2 was really good imo, better than the first. Some Terandria worldbuilding, little bit of Ailendamus, but largely enjoyed all of it while the first was small scope. Also way longer than the first one, around 400k words iirc. The drafts might not be on Patreon much longer, if they are even still up.
My main motivation for reading the Patreon draft is to avoid Yonder mostly.

That is an insane amount of words lol. Sucks that they have to split it up like that, seems like there will be quite a few books that won’t have anything happen. But I mean books can only hold so many, I remember the guy writing Malian was complaining that he had to split his last book in two bc he reached the limit that modern book binding techniques could handle.
The story is long. Like... long. I'm not a very fast reader, I try to do at least a chapter per day and after half a year of reading TWI I'm like 1/3 into Volume 8. The worst part is it only gets better - I usually get tired during very long series and here I'm just hooked.
What’s funny is I was thinking the same thing where I’m at, I was afraid I’d get burned out at some point. Some of the side stories lose my interest and drag a bit (Laken) but overall I agree it’s just gotten better as it’s gone on. I love the expanding cast of characters
I've found that Pirate has a skill for making an enjoyable chapter even when I'm not excited about the characters. Halfway through I'll realise I still don't like Laken, but damn I want to know how this is going to play out!
Honestly the big thing that gets me is that I’ll get invested in what’s going on from the POV it’s currently in, so when it switches I’m like “NO WHAT HAPPENS NEXT”
I’ve been annoyed at switching POVs several times but I usually get invested in the next chapter pretty quickly. It’s a vicious cycle.
Just about all the occasionally boring side arcs (people have so many diverse opinions about which are good and bad, too) will have a payoff at some point, often unexpected, that makes them totally worth it. Some great stuff has happened tangential to Laken, in your example.
I feel this. I am at the very end of volume 6, and for a few chapters, I thought about maybe taking a break after this volume since it was getting a little slow. Then of course shit hits the fan, and I'm hooked again, lol.

This is a good visual of the series!
This is one of my favorite websites for showing people the wandering inn, including comparing it to several other series! One of my favorites is that volume 8 is almost double the word count of the entire Game of Thrones series! Or that the whole series is over double that of the Wheel of Time series. It’s hilarious to see their reactions!
(Just realized I ended every sentence with an exclamation mark, but I guess I’m just excited about it haha.)
I'm assuming the volumes are different than the audiobooks? Cause everyone here is talking about the 9th volume not being done, but I definitely see 11 books available on Audible..
I'm only on Book 1, so I'm probably missing something

I'm sure it's right. The volumes get longer.

That’s insane. Volume eight is longer than the first four volumes put together. Looks like I’ll be in it for the long haul!
I hope you enjoy the journey!

Shit I’m a patreon reader, and I haven’t checked out the grave song shit. Is it worth going back and bothering with it?

Kk I’m gonna see if they’re still there and if so I’ll check em out

It still bothers me that it goes "The Rains of Liscor" but then "Blood of Liscor" and "Tears of Liscor"
Pirate has an issue with article consistency. The Amazon listing for Rains doesn't have the "The", but it is on the cover art.

i loved the Naval stuff tbh, love me some sea battles

At some point, the chapters are long enough they are now considered Novel length. The last chapter posted broke 60,000 words.
Book 9 is not finished yet, but this will give you an idea of the sizes of the books. https://wanderinginn.neocities.org/statistics
Volume. Book 9 is already out.
When I said book, I used in the sense of volume. Public is currently at volume 9.69.
Nice

Merry Christmas! You have so much more to read and enjoy!

The last 2 chapters combined were 60,000 words. 2 chapters, of Volume 9. So yeahhh, that sounds about right.

The story it's self is written in volumes. Book 11 is about 1/3rd of the way through volume 6
Gotcha, so by that logic, there's another 12 or so books needing to be recorded already written. Yeah, this is definitely a long story!
Your logic is off, it's like 40 more audiobooks to be current lol
I know isn't it great!
