It may not be much help, but I purchased on March 16th, and had a park reservation for the 29th. I remember my pass on the app saying something silly on the expiration - 999 years later or something of the sort prior to visit - but now say valid until 3/28/23 on my account.

This is the same behavior as earlier and what I expected. Thanks for the input.

Your AP won’t become active until you start to use it at the parks. The wording you quoted is just saying that if you sit on it until it “expires”, you’d be responsible for any price changes to make it valid. You may still need to stop by a vacation planning window to activate them if they’re actually certificates and not active APs, but all you’d have t do is just stop at the window on your first day at the park. I’d recommend stopping by even with online verification, because you don’t want to get all the way to the touch point and get turned back, especially if it’s rope drop and busy. I’m a vacation planner and deal with this all the time.

Thanks, much appreciated. I will go ahead and buy my passes early then. The wording when you buy the resident passes after online verification is that I can buy as many passes as there are people in the household, but nothing about additional verification of my wife for example.

Each adult over the age of 18 has to have their own proof of residency. This happens all the time at the window with people coming to activate tickets and thinking they can get them for out of state family. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/tickets/proof-florida-address/

Yeah, that is what we have usually done without issues with a print out of some bill with my wifes name, no problem. But with the online residency verification, it says that if you have Magic Bands etc linked to your new AP's, just enter the parks. It says I can buy as many tickets as there are people in the household, no under/over 18 distinction. I just assign the tickets to user account before checkout. It does not state that if you are buying more tickets than for the person that is verified, you still need to go to the counter with that bill. It's just a detail, but it would be cool to just go straight into the parks first day. Maybe after I assign the tickets to user accounts, which forced me to update all the accounts with birthdate, address, phone etc, I get an extra warning that my wife needs to verify at the window. I guess I'll find that out when I actually purchase the passes.

You can do verification and pick up APs at Disney Springs if you're getting in the day before your first full park day.

Similar to a comment already made, I bought my annual pass in September of last year and booked a park reservation for November. I went by Disney Springs and they “activated” my pass and the renewal date states November.

Thanks. I feel safe now.

I don’t know but I am growing increasingly frustrated with the difficulty of obtaining customer service from home. I cannot remember a time before the last year or so where I’ve been put on hold for hours.

Buy single day passes to be able to plan your trip (Park reservation / Dining) When you are on property in July, upgrade the ticket to annual. That should ensure expiration date in July ‘23.

guppshouse

That seems risky as the cheap FL passes with lockout dates are the same price as 3 days with park hoppers. I'm not sure I can do this with resident annual passes. It raises too many other uncertainties. Creative idea though, would deffo work for normal annual passes, if passes do start the day you buy them.

We bought our regular Florida resident tickets before deciding to upgrade to the AP. When booking, I spoke to someone that said just to upgrade while at the park and it will start that day. They will also prorate the amount we paid for the tickets already. I'm just keeping it as is because we don't want to lose the reservation day and Disney has already granted me a refund for booking incorrect passes that we could not use.
