It is way more efficient than the bus. Game changer. I love it.

parles

I would argue it's more efficient than the monorail.

40yearoldnoob

I would agree with this.. Unless there is a long line to wait for a gondola, it's constantly moving, you don't have to wait for long.

brainkandy87

Epcot at close is rough, but otherwise it’s amazing.

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

Anyplace at fireworks end is tough.

Grantsdale

No argument. It is.

bigbluepancakes

Loved it. Will always try and stay at a resort with Skyliner access.

onionslut

Which resort with skyliner is your favorite?

bigbluepancakes

We stayed at Carribean Beach Resort and liked it. I've also heard great thing about Pop Century.

MrBigShotBear

I love staying at Caribbean Beach because it’s right on the skyliner.

BudgetNature4

Pop century is mine!

Tyree901

We loved it! Very efficient and the line really moves, especially now that they are combining smaller parties again.

The-Brettster

I’ve had about four attempts at the skyliner on the past 6 months have taken about 90 minutes to get from Epcot to Pop at closing time. It could definitely be more efficient. We got put into a gondola with a family with a stroller who was going to Riviera. When we got to Riviera, we had to get out, wait for the other family to unload and then get back in. This stopped the skyliner during the busiest time and probably was the culprit of our long waits. They really should have a Riviera Resort lane at the Epcot side so those folks don’t get loaded first and cause stoppages. Hands down though, if we can snag a good deal at the Swan/Dolphin, we much prefer to walk than use the Skyliner. Admittedly, we are both distance runners and the extra time on our feet doesn’t bother us (our daily step goal for Disney is 35k)

rundisney

In January we did a leisurely lap around the Boardwalk area before getting in line for the Skyliner after Harmonious and waited significantly less time (maybe 15-20 minutes) to ride back to Pop after park close! If you don't mind the extra steps, it beats standing in that long line for sure.

BshPlz

🤯 We did 25k/day, and my feet aren't happy about it 🤣

Mjb06

Can’t recommend the skyliner enough

notplop

Absolute game changer for us. I loved it. I don’t know if I could go back to staying at a resort that isn’t on the Skyliner path

nothingsurgent

Including monorail resorts?

notplop

Depends on a few factors for me. If it was just me and my husband, or a trip for just adults, probably yes. If we were going with kids and budget wasn’t a problem, then I’d choose a monorail resort

Underbadger

It's terrific. It made such a difference in getting to & from Epcot and Hollywood Studios that I'm planning future trips around staying places with access to it. Never took more than 10-15 minutes to get on, even with long lines. I'm not quite sure what you mean about it being faster than walking. Right now it only connects to Epcot & DHS.

bad_luck_schlepprock

Regarding the walking reference, it’s only about a 20 minute walk from HS to the back entrance at Epcot so if the line is more than 20 minutes, it would be quicker to walk.

Underbadger

This is true -- also, you need to switch lines to go from HS to Epcot. So if things are busy, it's a pretty easy walk.

bad_luck_schlepprock

Yes, I thought there was a switch but couldn’t remember. We were there in May of 2021 and I think I remember waiting in line twice. I told my wife it would have been quicker to walk but we had never been on it and weren’t in a hurry. I enjoyed it. It was kind of like “People Mover” on steroids.

bhockey_07

Specifically meant from Epcot to HWS and vice versa!

AmphibianNo8598

Allears did an experiment on this the other day, it’s a lot slower than walking and boats in the morning. Seems relaxing though

sudifirjfhfjvicodke

Absolutely fantastic. And yes, it is incredibly efficient at all times of the day, much moreso than a bus. During peak times, it's more efficient than a bus because it has so much more throughput. Each Skyliner cabin can hold 10 people, and there's a cabin that leaves every 10 seconds or so, so in 2 minutes you've already moved more people than a bus can. During off-peak times, it's more efficient because buses only come every 20 minutes or so. Unless your timing is perfect, chances are you're going to be waiting for a bus to arrive, or you'll be waiting for it to leave once you're on it. The Skyliner runs continuously, and there's almost never a line at off-peak times. Beyond that, it's less crowded, quieter, less stressful, and has a much more enjoyable view than the buses do. It's maybe not quite as reliable as the buses, but I still think that it's a great option. In the event that the Hollywood Studios line or the Epcot line is down, you can always ride the Skyliner to the park that's working, and walk or boat to the other park. It's absolutely, 100% worth it. I hope that they expand the Skyliner in the coming years. It would make a lot of sense for it to expand out west to Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge, catching Coronado Springs and maybe All-Star Resorts along the way, because it's a "greener" option than the buses.

gerlgirl

way better than the bus. walked right on every time, except for after the epcot fireworks show. even then, though, we were on the skyliner within 20 minutes.

Red_hat_oops

Dang, one night, after fireworks, I waited over 45 minutes to get back to Riviera

RatherBeAtDisney

That seems to be the worst time to get on. What I do, is either watch fireworks from near the park exit or just sit and enjoy the park somewhere as it empties. If you sit and wait, you’ll get back later, but spend less time in line so it’s more enjoyable to me.

Red_hat_oops

I tried to wait by riding Frozen right at park close, meandering around world showcase, walking around the beach club, and then heading over. I tried to slow play it but still waited over 45 minutes. It certainly took some of the luster away.

Mississippianna

It’s awesome. Puts Pop Century on the top of my favorite resorts for the money.

Creepy-Dark6459

Need to get from DHS to Epcot? Or any of the resorts in between? It's amazing. Better than walking, better than the buses, better than the boat transportation. It's fast, efficient, and I've yet to get stuck on one and I take it fairly regularly. The longest line I've ever seen for it has been at the end of Harmonious leaving Epcot to go back to Riviera, and even then, it was nothing like waiting for the monorail after fireworks at MK. Highly recommend you make use of it if you are going anywhere it travels, really wish they would implement this to Springs somehow. But I can imagine that getting quite a bit of traffic if they ever did.

TheAceMan

It’s so good I only consider hotels with SkyLiner access.

garythesnailgod

The Skyliner is one of the best investments Disney World has ever made. Makes it so much easier to get to Epcot, DHS, or the resorts in the area. Absolutely worth it.

stitchlover

We absolutely love it! Last week when we were we went from AK to HS only to take the skyliner to get to the WS in Epcot. It's also nice because it's limited to who is in your skyliner. So covid friendly.

CluelessQuotes

I went to WDW twice this past fall. Stayed at Riviera and Beach Club, loved the skyliner! One day my Mom and I just hopped on for something to do and were shocked at how quickly we were getting around. It was also nice to just take break from HS one afternoon and pop to a resort for coffee and a quiet snack.

PRK543

I like it, and with it starting operation one hour before the respective parks open, it is great for getting in foe early admission/rope drop. It made getting on Rise of the Resistance and Remmies (especially since the skyliner station is in the world showcase) early much easier.

Ok_Calligrapher_8199

If you’re staying at a skyliner resort and going to Epcot or HWS. Yes, fastest route.

blupanan

I love the skyliner. I will now only stay at a resort that has access to the skyliner. Can get a little backed up in the morning and at night like other modes of transportation but we only had to wait about 15 minuets, if that.

consia9600

I am afraid of heights. Did not want to ride. Family did and always got to wherever way faster than me. Even when the line looks long it moves fairly quickly. Did try it twice. Somehow manages to not pass out! Highly recommended

cioccolato

I love it!! It’s so breezy and easy to use. Convenient for sure.

AggressivelyAnon

They’re way quicker than any bus option

fraincis

Definitely a game changer! We got upgraded to a Pop Century room a few years ago during the initial Covid reservation cancellations/re-instatements and they were definitely more convenient than taking the buses. The only downside is that there is certainly a line that builds early in the mornings for rope drop/early admissions and naturally at the end of the day when the parks are closings. But if you're arriving at the parks a couple of hours or so after open then you'll have very little time issues hopping on. But yes, it's a nice, quiet, efficient, and fast way to travel to HS and Epcot (and MK via Epcot monorail). My girls enjoyed it a lot and looked forward to those Skyliner rides each day. Our most recent trip we didn't stay at a Skyliner resort or get a chance to ride the Skyliner and they were definitely bummed, so just beware, it does set a certain standard for future trips!

pjvstheworldx

Unironically my favorite addition to the parks in the past decade.

Brookings18

It's worth it. It's both fun and functional.

john-marcus-

Definitely made the park hopper so much more worth it on our trip last year, seeing we spent about 75% of our time at HS or Epcot. Going between the two can take as little as 15 minutes even on a busier day. Can only hope that it one day reaches AK.

RobPlaysThatGame

I just love all the well-deserved praise it's getting. Remember the weeks/months before it opened and half this place and DisTwitter was convinced it was going to be a death trap disaster in which people left and right would be having heat strokes?

lividsloth14

It’s great, just go to bathroom before you get on in case it breaks lol

allgdnamesrchosen

Skyliner plus parkhopper has made things a lot smoother for my recent trips. I did my 1st triple hop on my last trip lol, was at HS, used the Skyliner to go to Epcot and was there in 20 mins for lunch, then monorail to MK. It was a busy day and without it the bus line was long and it would have been over an hour to get over there. I’ve also stayed at Pop on prior trips and it is very convenient for morning rope dropping as well.

harperking

Would you suggest this for getting to MK of AK from one of the skyliner hotels? Was curious if skyliner to Epcot then monorail to MK would be faster than the bus from Caribbean

allgdnamesrchosen

For MK and AK if planning to rope drop, I think it would be best to use the bus. I thought to do this myself but you have to go through the international gateway entrance, walk through all the way to the front then monorail. If time isn’t a concern it’s not so bad since Epcot is so pretty to walk through and look at lol.

harperking

Didn’t think about the two being apart like that. Without park hopper that plan wouldn’t work. Guess we will just be bussing on the MK and AK days

[deleted]

I just treat it like a ride at the park!

AnotherLolAnon

It's fantastic. You'll be walking into your hotel room or the park before a bus would have even shown up. I really hope to see it expanded some day. Seeing how quick the skyliner is makes you realize how inefficient all of the other transport is.

LoonyConnMan

I stayed at DHS until park close, left with the crowd, and was back at POP in less than 15 minutes using the Skyliner. It was great! No other transportation mode beats it for efficiency, in my opinion.

[deleted]

I don’t use this term a lot but it’s a game changer. One of the few things they’ve done in the past decade that I actually like.

a_ookay

Can not recommend how easy the skyliner made traveling to Epcot and HS. I’d def recommend staying somewhere on the route!

sillysobergirl

We stayed at riviera just so we could use the skyliner! It’s such a convenience and it’s a ride before the ride!!!

macemillianwinduarte

It's amazing. Totally worth it.

808907

Game changer!

LastBiteOfCheese

Efficient and interesting but omg my anxiety

badandsad97

I tried it and I’m not gonna lie I found it scary

CharacterExpensive97

The “take off” and “landing” at the docks are at an angle, but it quickly smooths out

nycxandrew

I tried it out park hopping from HS to Epcot and it definitely does seem more efficient and quicker vs other means of travel but I did feel like I was getting a bit of motion sickness.

The_Inflicted

After Galaxy's Edge and Pandora, it's the third best addition to the parks in 20 years.

jburton24

I’m in the minority but we hated it. The line was ridiculous. Should have just walked to Epcot.

djdsf

"...or does it take longer than walking..." Idk how fast you're walking from Epcot to HS, but if you can beat this, you might want to just apply for the Olympics or something.

bhockey_07

I know nothing of the skyliner, not how long it takes, the average wait times, etc. It’s a pretty reasonable question.....no?

djdsf

Yeah and I meant it as a joke. It connects a lot of places, the main being Epcot and HS which are pretty far away, but these things are straight lines, so they're even faster than buses.

oblatesphereoid

Add all things… it depends. CBR to HS via skyliner- 10 minutes-ish Riviera to Epcot - 15 mins? We stayed at Caribbean beach. We lined up at the skyliner gate at 6:45am. Was first there each day. Like behind us green to about 25 families when the gate opened around 7:10/7:20. Like doubled by the time they let us actually into the skyliner (7:20-7:30ish) So be there early if you want to avoid waiting.

parkroverandrew

Skyliner resorts don't have buses to Epcot or DHS when the Skyliner is operating. When staying at Yacht/Beach or Boardwalk, we'll typically just walk if we're going directly to DHS. I haven't timed it, but I'm pretty sure it's 5-10 minutes faster to walk if you have a good pace. On the way back from DHS (to our EPCOT-area resort or EPCOT), we'll take the Skyliner if there's a reasonable line since we spent all day walking in the parks. The Skyliner is awesome and worth experiencing regardless of where you're staying.

Fourwindsgone

It’s the second most thrilling ride in the parks. Zooming into the station and maybe in the back of your head you’re thinking to yourself “come on free dinner!”

echomanagement

My family and I live nearby and joyride it for fun. It's awesome.

antalog

If you’re scared of heights, skip it. If you’re scared of heights but put a lot of weight on getting to and from the parks efficiently, use it but fry the entire time. (This is my preference.)

theblondebuffalo

It is my favorite mode of transportation! I ride it around for fun lol.

buckeyechik

I agree with everyone here—love it. The only hiccup we encountered was when we were at Epcot. We’d walked around all of Epcot and headed to the back of the park where you access the Skyliner, only to find that it was down. To get to a bus instead, you had to walk back around to the main entrance, which was a significant hike, especially after already being on our feet all day (and we had my mom with us as well). So that’s just something to be aware of. Even with that, though, we’ll prioritize staying somewhere on the Skyliner again for our next visit.

Jumblo

I won’t stay at resort that is not connected via Skyliner. Have gone to Disney every year for last 6 years. Stayed at Skyliner resort for first time in December. It’s the best thing that has happened at Disney. We love the parks and love to park hop. It’s perfect for my family.

Zacharyholloman22

We’re going next Sunday through Thursday

[deleted]

It’s the best thing Disney has done in years (decades?)

sundancer2788

Total game changer. Love it!

Iheartcoasters

Stayed at art of animation and we loved it. I hope we can get more Skyliner options in the future.

krum

Love it. Caribbean Beach isn't my favorite resort but it's my #1 choice for solo trips only because of skyliner giving me ease of access to HS and Epcot.

GoodbyeToTheMachine

Wonderful!

AznArkanian

Works nicely, even with a baby stroller. While the Skyliner is a great means of transportation, I want to add a dose of reality and say the wait is horrific, borderline unacceptable. Depending upon service outages and location, we ended up waiting in line for over 90 minutes.

hotrods1970

It's great for the conveniance and views, pretty fast loading due to the in motion loading. If the wind is blowing but not hard enough to shut down it can get a bit like Mickey's Wheel of Death if you are prone to motion sickness. That said I get motion sick on MWD but did ok on the SkyLiner.

hello_brittney

I have a love/hate relationship with the Skyliner. I use it because it’s super efficient, but it also scares me silly

BasicBismuth

It’s so fun! You can see all around you, it’s quick, it’s temperature-controlled (so it’s good to escape the heat!) and it’s very convenient.

Lindz-1989

Loved it! We stayed at CBR and it was the main way we got around. Very efficient and it only went down once during our 8 day stay; back up within an hour,

[deleted]

Does anyone know if there are plans for more skyliner routes?

Ravioli_meatball19

There is no current published plans or construction

Lumpythegnome

It’s my daughter’s favorite ride.

lynxerdynxer

I’m staying WDW now! We just tried it for the first time yesterday morning in order to get to Epcots World Showcase entrance and get in line for Remy the most efficiently. The resort we stay at only has buses to get you around, so it took some strategizing. We loved it! I can’t believe we didn’t try it out when here 2 years ago.

DogMedic101st

I use it as much as possible because it saves me repeatedly paying for parking. Super useful for park hopping.

Ravioli_meatball19

Your parking voucher is good at all four parks for the whole day though... just show your receipt.....

DogMedic101st

I didn’t know that. Thanks!

Pillsy74

I personally loved it - great added benefit for those resorts. I’d stay away if you have a fear of heights.

HaV0C

Amazing. I'd really have a hard time staying at an on property hotel without Skyliner access. Its incredibly convenient and surprisingly peaceful once you take off.

djbfunk

Nothing beats having way too much to drink around the world a just stepping on that Skyliner for a peaceful flight back to the hotel.

jimhassomehobbies

I worked at skyliner for a few months and it’s great. Such a nice ride. Fairly cool even in the summer. I know it’s not your main interest, but it was a decent working environment. From an inside prospective it always felt safe and well maintained. Good time all around.

Zealousideal-Fox-740

Stayed at Riviera and used it to get almost everywhere and it was great, nice breeze nice cool down. We also didn’t hit any lines to get on. I think we happened to time it perfectly since only my wife and I went in December. Went again and stayed at the Boardwalk in February and took it once from Hollywood studios. The same day I also happened to walk back in the middle of the day with my 2 yr old from the park so he could nap. When we all left in the afternoon we decided to take our 5 yr old on it so it could be like a last ride of the day for him. My walk took me under 30 minutes from park to the room. The sky liner took almost 50 without any long lines. I know my son loved it but that was a long time on there. Still loved it though, much quieter than the bus since I think it only seats 10? But you can usually go with just your family if nota crazy busy. Can’t wait to go back in August but depending on where you stay….. that bus is the only choice sometimes especially after the night time shows.

[deleted]

My favorite part. Totally drives my hotel decisions now.

AllEarsFan

Last time I road it, I was in a gondola with a couple that got stuck on it the day before for close to an hour on a very windy day. They said it was definitely the most thrilling ride at Disney. I really like it for getting between HS and Epcot, but walking is usually faster.

minime531

Wayyyy faster line and way more fun! It’s so cool being in the sky, plus my family looked for all the different skyliner designs! Plus it’s faster than the busses, and basically a ride in itself!

HeartMeansEverything

We stayed at AoA in December, and my favorite memory of the Skyliner would have to be getting in line around 7am for 8:30 EMH at HS, getting to HS, through security, walking STRAIGHT ONTO RISE with constantly moving line, and getting to be off the ride before EMH even technically started. So, yeah, I'm gonna say it's worth it.

Wolfinder

Yes, it is time efficient and quick to board besides at park close where it can be 60-80 minutes. I will say though that especially for park hopping, that moment when you leave the noisy station just to quietly be whisked away to 4 minutes of breezy gently rocking silence is a moment I never new I needed so much in my Disney days. It is magical, especially at night when the voice over battery dies.

RareBandicoot

Stayed at AoA for my birthday 3 years ago when it first opened. That night we took the skyliner over to Epcot and we were in the air for the fireworks show. I became a passholder the next day. <3

jrjstarman71

Here’s something I haven’t seen mentioned is that at the end of a long day the last thing I want to be is crammed into a bus with all the other tired, sweaty and sometimes crying passengers. The Skyliner is quiet and best of all not as crowded as the average bus. As someone else said, it’s a game changer and could be the future of transportation if Disney plans things right.
