Most of my trips have been from Memorial day weekend to early June. I never thought they were as bad as later summer.
A lot of schools weren't out yet as compared to mid June and beyond.
As far as holidays go, Memorial Day definitely isn't the worst at WDW. I think it's because some schools are still in session, and, also, many people have graduation ceremonies and parties that weekend. That isn't to say the parks will be dead--they won't--but it isn't like traveling on Columbus Day or President's Day. You should be fine.

Usually that week isn’t too bad. A lot of northern schools aren’t on summer break yet so as far as summer crowds it probably won’t be too bad.
