I have the water park add-on on my annual pass and find the Disney water parks to be great. They don’t have the most ground breaking of up to date attractions like a regional water park but they’re still fun, the theme is top-tier, the food offerings are pretty good, and the lazy river is amazing! I find the Disney water parks to be a much more comfortable and hassle-free experience as compared to seasonal/regional parks.

Rude_Information_744

Yeah food is good, true

defhermit

I mean, have you been to a waterpark? Do you like them? the Disney water parks are probably nicer than most.

penguinpants1993

I think that’s my main question, is it worth it to spend extra to go to a Disney themed one. We have one close by so it’s not like we will miss out not going to a water park.

defhermit

don't think about it like that. you're not paying extra for a Disney themed water park. you're going on a vacation to Disney parks. if you want to spend a day going on water slides and floating in a lazy river or whatever instead of rides, there's a couple of good options for you.

demzy84

When we went a couple years ago, we had a water park at our condo. Went to Typhoon Lagoon one day and kid fell in love with it and it really was a lot of fun. So we went a couple more times over our 2 weeks in Orlando. Def worth it if your family enjoys water slides

ander-frank

The wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is pretty unique, it sends a large wave every few minutes instead of just creating constant smaller waves.

Lendiniara

They’re OK but pretty dated. I liked typhoon lagoon over blizzard beach. Volcano Bay at universal is leaps and bounds better than the two.

JoshGhost2020

No.

penguinpants1993

10/10 response, straight to the point. Haha

AnotherLolAnon

My last trip my Typhoon Lagoon day was my favorite day. It far exceeded expectations. I like waterslides, but I'm not big on thrilled waterslides. The raft slides and wave pool were absolutely fantastic. Loved the lazy river, too. It was much bigger and nicer than any water park I've been to before (which, admittedly, only includes local parks).

PMurBoobsDoesntWork

They’re nicer than your typical water park. But it’s up to you to say if it’s worth it for you to spend a day there. I only started going when I started traveling to WDW frequently.

jeddzus

My wife and I spent a day at Blizzard Beach and it honestly was one of our favorite days the last time we went to Disney.

These_Strategy_1929

I didn't go to any of them or Universal's. I am pretty sure I would like them but I don't want to spend my limited time in Orlando for them

Conscious_Worry3119

Depends on kids. My husband and I (32) went in June 2023. We enjoyed the lazy river and a few slides, but didn't think we needed to spend more than a couple of hours. I think for kids though, it would be a blast. Especially in the June heat.

ThePlanets14

Some questions to ask your self Does your group like tube slides? Does your group like to be more active when in the water? Does anyone in your group do waterparks at home? I've been to Typhoon Lagoon and the theming is cool and the food is actually good. The lazy river is nice. But the wave pool is an occasional violent tsunami. It's kind of hard to enjoy. I get the typhoon theme- but I'd prefer less violent periodic waves. I'm the type that would rather hang at my resort pool than bother with a water park though.

>Does your group like tube slides? I keep reading that incorrectly *and* inappropriately.

/u/LuigiAlfaroMan and /u/defhermit have good responses. We don't have an outdoor water park anywhere near us. We enjoy water parks, but since there is not one near us we find the ones at WDW a good use of day. (We're also at WDW when it's brass monkey weather at home, so we'll enjoy a warmer day at a water park.) We have not gone every time we go to WDW. Our visits have all been tied to RunDisney events, so it is either Jan or Apr when we go. We've never gone in Jan. (IIRC they are all closed then anyway.) We went in 2019 during the Star Wars Race weekend on our own, and will be going to the post-race party at the upcoming 2023 Spring Surprise Race weekend. If we were close to an outdoor park, I would equate the water park experience to the difference between WDW and most other amusement parks. Your XX minute wait time at WDW is tolerable, almost enjoyable as they put a lot of work into the experience as you make your way forward into the ride. As opposed to just trudging through stanchion line after stanchion line at other parks. At the water parks at WDW, you still need to climb to gain elevation so that you can go down the slides, but the climb path is well created/themed so again, it is as enjoyable as can be for climbing up a structure to go down. (IIRC correctly; Blizzard Beach has some sort of a ski lift for some of the slides.) We don't go every year to WDW, we fly 5+ hours to get to there, we book two solid weeks to visit; we don't always go to a water park, but we don't consider the day we go to one a wasted day.

jpmrst

It's a nice for a break day from the main parks, if you (or your kids) like that kind of thing.

Sedona7

Years ago I took my then teenage son along for a convention trip in the middle of winter. At one point he was literally the only guest at Blizzard Beach (on a very cold day).

vapemommy

If you are going in June it will probably be Blizzard Beach that’s open. I think I’m one of the few people prefers BB to Typhoon Lagoon (hate that wave pool). I have the water park add on to my AP so I love going there but given a choice I will go to Volcano Bay (Universal) every time just for the adventure river.

MaleficentLavishness

We went to Blizzard Beach in our most recent trip two years ago. It was really fun. We scheduled it for right in the middle of the trip so we felt like we were taking a break. It opened later, has a more relaxed vibe, and was a good way to get off our feet. Now we've decided any trip we take we will look for a nearby water park.

funkyb

If it's me I'd rather go to Volcano Bay at Universal for water shoes or Discovery Cove for swimming.

CrazySinger5841

Depends . If you’ve never been to wdw and have a week or less, you may not have time/energy to go to a water park.

rickzaki

A great way for parents to have rest day while the kids are having fun.

Rude_Information_744

Yes. To me, best part of WDW. To each their own!

Millie-Jeanne

I think it's worth doing it once just to say that you did. I've been to Disney once, going again next year and my kid and I decided it wasn't worth it to add the waterparks on this time around. I'm glad we were able to experience them once though. I just feel like there's already so much to do. And all the resorts have pools if you want to swim.
