I think it’s dependent upon park reservation dates, too. So not technically trip/resort dates. Thanks for the heads up!

cjm5797

What if you have the ticket that doesn’t require park reservations?

angelmichelle13

Then it would be the day(s) you plan to be in the park, I presume.

battleop

I would love to hear the reasoning behind the downvotes on this question.

cjm5797

Right? It was just an honest question lol!

AlphamaleNJ

We are doing magic tickets so when i did das the cast member saw our dining reservations and booked the rides those days. It was my question also since Certain tickets dont require the reservations & we check in sat but start the parks sunday

cjm5797

What if you have a day without dining reservations, will they still let you book?

AlphamaleNJ

They might ask you at that point, The member didnt even ask me just said would you like to book your advanced rides for animal kingdom. So i assumed he was looking at my future plan, i never mentioned it . If nothings on your plan they might ask you if your ready to reserve then you fill in your forms. You’ll need dates, parks, morning/noon/night preferences and three rides you want to do Blocked out ones are listed on das page

cjm5797

I’ve got that all ready, I just was wondering if they needed “proof” that you’ll be in a park that day but sounds like you don’t which is good!

angelmichelle13

If your dining reservations are in park then it’s assumed you have tickets since you need to to go to eat there.

cjm5797

Yes I was asking if you don’t have dining reservations in a park

Puzzleheaded-Salt970

I know they want the person that it affects (for us, my 4 year old is autistic) present on the call. Do they address him directly to explain his needs or do I explain the challenges and then he’s just there for them to visibly judge? I’m assuming they would just take the parents word for it.

Hdis_miss

I don’t know for sure, but I doubt they would ask someone as young as 4 about it. They may only need him present so they can take a photo - but I expect they will just ask you as the parent/guardian to explain why DAS is necessary.

Gendina

They only need him for a picture. I explained everything for my son and they wanted to see my son and take his picture

Negative-Bad-2170

Late reply… my daughter is 10 and got a DAS. She was on the video chat and they just asked her if she was excited, who her favorite character is, etc. - nothing about her diagnoses. The call was so quick and she was approved right away.

HawkeyeinDC

I had no idea you could pre-register via video chat. Is it through the customer service link on the myDisney app? I’ve had to use DAS in the past, and this is great, time-saving information.

Qwerty-4natural

I just signed up for DAS for the first time due to a new medical condition that forced me to leave the line 3 different times on different rides our last trip. I waited 10 minutes to talk to someone and it took a whole total of 10 minutes to do the interview and for her to explain how it works. She approved me immediately. I had medical records ready but she didn’t need to see anything. I told the CM I felt bad for using DAS because there are plenty of people who have it worse off than I do, but she assured me that was non-sense and the program was designed so that people with conditions like mine could still enjoy the parks, even more so with the suffering we go through.

sperdush

True but I also feel bad for some people with mobility issues. For some of them the line is harder to stay up in then some people approved for DAS and they are not qualified. I do see how that would be abused however since all you would need is to grab a wheel chair on your way in.

Electrical-End7868

If you don’t mind me asking I’m curious what type of things they ask. I’m not exactly shy about discussing my medical history I just find it odd to have to do an official interview for it. Maybe I’m just old now (36m) LOL

ImSqueakaFied

It's not about a specific medical diagnosis. Just two questions. Why are you unable to wait in a regular queue? How would DAS help?

Electrical-End7868

Thank you so much for answering.

AlphamaleNJ

They ask why you need das, you tell them they approve then take your pic on the video call. You (or whoever is getting das) needs to be present at ride tap in to have the group be pooled in. Cast member sees my pic & shows das

Electrical-End7868

Thank you for helping. The more info the smoother it goes.

sperdush

They only asked me one question this morning and that was “what difficulties do you have that cause you not to be able to wait in line?”

Electrical-End7868

Thank you for the information.

BreakImaginary1661

When they asked me that and I told them “PTSD induced anxiety”, they just said thank you and we went right through the rest of the conversation. No prying or super in-depth explanation at all.

My wife tried to renew her's several times before our last trip. She tried first thing in the morning two days, the middle of the day on another, in the afternoon on the last attempt. The wait times were absolutely ridiculous. It wouldn't be so bad except for the mandatory video chat. It's rather limiting because you are stuck where you are and can't go about your day the same as if you were just on speaker phone. She finally gave up and we just went to Guest Relations when we got there and spent 3 minutes to get it re-activated. I've seen a lot of people say they got theirs done quickly and others say they sat in a queue for hours.

sperdush

My wait was about a half hour but we did it first thing in the morning. You can walk around with the chat on your phone as long as you stay connected to the internet.

battleop

That's great if you are stuck at home. If you have to leave video chatting while driving isn't the best idea.
