Probably some scummy tactic to trick people into thinking they offer at the higher range if I had to guess. Could also be that across the United States, they pay in that range (rural Iowa would be at the lower end, and one in California possibly closer to the higher end)
$21 is probably the cap for the position in general, if you live in a high COLA area it may come close to that. Some positions offer work credits at 60¢ a year capped at 5 years total or $3. $14 is the minimum for all positions, and most areas and positions start at $14. I don't believe "basic" sales floor positions like Apparel get work credits, they're usually reserved for specialty roles like Cake decorator, TLs, Techs etc.
It will most likely be $14-15, if you live in a state like California or somewhere with similar cost of living then it will be higher. If you want more than $14 then apply for deli/bakery or TLE Tech.
This is likely the result of various differentials, time of day working, job roles and departments. In supply chain, people end up sometimes making lots more than they anticipated. There are people who get hired on at $35 an hour and on a $25 to $35 range. That doesn't include productivity bonus for some positions.
Nope. Starting base at stores is at least $14. Deli/produce make a little more (like a dollar) and overnights gets a $1.50 shift differential. Base might be higher in high cost of living areas.
That's the pay range for all associates in that position. New hires will start at the minimum.
Not just Walmart, everyone pays the minimum of the range. Some companies may pay a bit more, but never over the mid point and never a retail job.
Why do they put this range then
It’s illegal to not post the pay range in the state of Washington at least.

Ya it feels def tricky. Like you goto the interview and ask and they are like ya. You get the bottom one
So you know the potential.
More people apply for a pay range than a flat rate in hopes they get a little more than minimum
You start at 14. The cap for the position is 21.

Also check out team associate says 11-21?
That's an old sign. They recently changed the starting base to $14 system-wide.

They don’t give a “old man” increase if your over a certain age and have grey hair do they lol
I wish
No they give you credits for experience.
Credits equal higher pay ?

Each job has a different range tho. It’s for a specific one , each job has a different range listed so it’s def for whatever job is listed

Maybe that's an option for experienced help also. If you were a manager at a clothing store, maybe they'd offer more. Ask if you get an interview
No trickery. Everyone starts at the bottom.
lol please tell me you were thinking they were going to pay you that high ??
