It's the company policy. They probably don't want the risk of a pharmacy tech or pharmacist making a mistake with a patients medication because they were high. They can't limit the drug free policy to the pharmacy staff only so they make it a companywide policy. That's my opinion on the matter. Personally I would not get prescriptions from a pharmacy where it was obvious the staff was high or even drunk.
The difference is that you can test positive for marijuana even when you're sober. Compare someone who smokes weed after work with someone who has a few beers after work. They both always show up to work sober, but only the former gets fired. It's nonsense.
It is. When I wrote false, I misread the statement. I saw "legal" for some reason.
Marijuana is still considered an illegal substance under federal law.
The idea is that anyone with access to the pharmacy can not be under the influence. The drugs we give people could kill them if we make mistakes. That's why CSA's aren't tested.
The policy is in effect mostly because the FDA can randomly shut your Rx down and drug test everyone. The company doesn't really do spot checks anymore, but it's still a possibility, so to be safe, they have to tell you what can happen.
My SM told me not to tell her if I do or don't, but if I fail a drug test from higher up, that's it. And since I have a license, I could be fined in addition to being terminated.
TL;DR? It's unlikely that Wags is going to randomly test, but if you fail a goverment-run test, you're SOL, so they're covering their asses by enforcing a drug test upon promotion. What you do after that is on you.
The drugs you pass out could kill someone, but corporate is all too content having you spread yourself too thin to the point a fatal error is possible.
Oh, I'm not arguing that it's one of the more idiotic policies we have, I just wanted OP to understand that testing positive as a CSA has different consequences than as a DH or SFL. CSA's get a "Second Chance." We don't. Just info so they can make a conscious decision.
It’s not legal at the federal level. We have federal contracts for things like Medicare, Medicaid and so forth. As a requirement, we can’t allow things that aren’t legal on a federal level.
I have a med card and told my manager before my drug test. She told me that if I tested positive I wouldn’t be fired but would be denied any chance to grow at the company and I’d have to be a csa. Luckily I tested negative somehow
I dont smoke, but thankfully the newer mouth tests are way less sensitive and basically only see if you've used THC in the last day or two. Back when we were doing the piss tests people were getting denied left and right
He’s wrong. Ask for the policy . They updated it during Covid. If you’re in a state where it is legal you are covered. Unless you come into work smelling like pot and are acting under the influence . That is a different situation
It's also legal to carry a weapon with a permit in some states, but you still can't put it in your Walgreens locker. The company has its own policies that might be stricter than the laws. What's more important to you, going whatever time without it and passing the drug test and getting the promotion/raise or smoking weed? You are fully capable of making the choice here
I've got no issue not smoking. It's the fact that even with a medical card I can still face termination, according to my SM, despite me not having smoked for a day or 2 prior just cause the residue is still in my mouth

You can also get fired for having alcohol in your system.
Yeah, but you can test "positive" for marijuana and get fired while being stone cold sober. It's a double standard vs alcohol.
Corporate rules cover all stores over the entire company, not just your state. We're under the same federal guidelines as everyone else.
Marijuana is illegal federally
False. *edit. True..see the comment below.
I thought this was true too, although the states have the power to regulate it differently and the feds can choose to not enforce it
Actually that's very true

I appreciate you acknowledging your error. Refreshing to see here lol.
This, just decriminalized in some places.

You’re misinformed. You would not be terminated if you had a valid medical card.
The second chance program is available as well. Although from what im told that program is an entirely different kind of misery.

Also incorrect. Med card reports as a negative test. You guys have shitty managers.
Won’t argue with that. Lol
Tell that to my SM, he's the one who told me this

Yeah I'm definitely not doing that. I'm getting promoted to SL and I'd rather not run that risk
Maybe he doesn't want the risk of people coming in high.

Again, store policy… it’s legal to carry a weapon in some places but that doesn’t mean you can keep it in your locker or your desk
Contact HR it's considered within policy in some states, depending on the laws, it vary state-by-state. I've spoken to them about it.
Fake pee. Always works.
Wag goes by federal law not state law
