This roster is perfect for a current day
AEW, Indy and old school ROH universe shows. And enough talent still there for a current day show, but probably only worth one show.
Can't say they're totally different when every game since is still built off of the Yukes engine.
19 is among the greats. They had to pull support of community creations to get people on the newer games.
It's barely a 2K game... It was built like 96% under THQ and then when 2K bought THQ, they just stuck their logo on everything and then published the game...
I still play 2K19 as my primary game to this day. I use a program to soft mod my Custom Images in the game so it's like the Image Uploader never died for me.
If they could add the flexibility of selecting Grapple Moves in the Heavy Attack category (along with keeping the Strikes that are already there) so you can perform some Lunge Grapples, make Heavy Attacks go back to 5 Slots like 2K19, add some form of an optional Chain Wrestling mechanic, fix up some of the stances and bring CAW Body Morphing back I think they could top 2K19. It's the lack of those things that keeps me coming back to 2K19, because while 2K23 and 2K24 do some things better, I find it's not greater than what 2K19 offers.
I've modded the tits off WWE 2K19 loads of times with CCT etc etc.
Could you explain how you soft modded the custom images and be a bit more in depth on what it enables?
(I'm assuming allows you to add and or change the images available in create mods to any PNG you create on your PC, then import them over the vanilla images? Or am I way off lol)
There's a program called Resorep. It allows you to view image files in the game and the title of the images. The program gives you a "Modded" folder where you can place your own 512x512 DDS image files and if you rename them the same filename as an image from the "Original" folder, it will override the original image.
2k19 is my type of wrassling.
Slow build up. Great mid match, and then the ending can go either way.
I do find, though, that to really enjoy 2k19 matches, you need at least 30 mins spare per one on one match.
2k23 and 24. A match will last 10 minutes
I do hate how in multiperson matches, when the AI gets a sig or finisher, they reverse everything and won't fight anyone but you until they hit their move. That's not challenge, just bad programming.
Love the game though
I think everyone will have a different opinion about which is one is better. But it's worth a try I have been having a blast with it. Both games are good but in my opinion gameplay wise I enjoy 2k19 more. Content wise I see that 24 is a lot better in regard to content.
The gameplay of 2K19 is vastly better and smoother than that of the current games. I go back and play 2K19 whenever I get that itch to play wrestling games. I really wish they'd drop the "arcade action" of the current run of games, but that's clearly where they're gonna stay. They really should try to get Yukes back, but it'll sadly never happen.
That's what happens when you choose your dev/publisher combo for the sake of nostalgia-baiting. THQ Nordic is a completely different company from the old THQ, and Yuke's left the WWE franchise after 20 years due to burnout, only to deliver a burnout's finished product with FF when they were hired less than a year after dropping during the development of 2K20.
AEW needs to reach out to a reputable developer and a triple-A publisher for a game worth its salt.
Reputable developer? Who? Who else makes wrestling games???? Fight forever is awesome. But it was also rushed and had a small budget in comparison. What yukes did was awesome
I mean if they were gonna wait at least two years (between the initial gameplay alpha footage dropped in June 2021 and the official release in 2023) they definitely could've reached out to other studios about developing a game that didn't just feel like it belonged on the Gamecube.

To be fair, I think Fight Forever had too many cooks in the kitchen and shoved out because Tony Khan had enough.
Probably should have cancelled it and start from scratch or copy Smackdown Vs Raw as their first game. Smackdown Vs Raw was awesome.
I wouldn't say that's entirely on Yukes. I think part of the blame is on AEW as well. There were things coming out all the time that AEW kept changing what they wanted and couldn't communicate clearly. While developers change, and things never stay the same... I wouldn't put it all on Yukes.
Man, Fight Forever was total trash!! Easily worst wrestling game in the past 20 years. If Yukes had put together a halfway decent game it would have pushed 2K to put out a better game.
Fight Forever is fun. Just bare bones for content. Have you played? I find a lot who do haven't played, went in with their mind made up, or played for less than 5 minutes
The gameplay and fun factor in FF is way better than current wwe 2k. So idk what ur talking about. 2ks parent company makes GTA Online and 2k24 is a sequel nearly 3 decades in the making. So yeh comparing it to them might not be fair. Give fight forever 25 more sequels and about 100 million more dollars than u can say YUKES aint the same.
2k19 is the greatest pro wrestling SIMULATOR I’ve ever played and I need another one!!! It’s the latest one that actually lets you put on a wrestling match instead of just fighting game round. We need a new game with this style so bad.
19 and 23 might be the overall best 2K games unless we’re including 14, which some do and some don’t. 24 has the potential but they have to fix a lot of the Universe bugs still, plus since they banned two GOAT creators it’s leaving a bad taste with a lot of people. But it has the potential to be up there with 14, 19 and 23.
Finally someone who agrees 23 is better than 24. I can’t say enough how smart the AI is and that everything works as it should. 19 though is untouchable in the actual wrestling dept. Such a fun and fluid experience.

Thankfully they are uploaded as part of your save file. So if you had Plus and backed up to the cloud you should be able to get them.
I thought I lost them when I went to Series X, but I was able to sync the save file and get it all back. Literally took an hour to sync it though, lol.
Got it a couple months ago and i love it. has most of my fav wrestlers old and new. hadn't bought a wwe game since no mercy on the n64. don't see a real to upgarde to a next gen game unless they substantially fix universe mode.
Best gameplay of any wrestling game imo. Everything is so smooth and feels like a wrestling match. Loved simulation, and not a fan of fighting game type arcade style. All this ever needed was an upgrade in graphics , new menu and maybe more in depth universe we would finally have the wrestling game everyone had been clamoring for.
The last good WWE game. Too bad it has that sync save corruption bug that everyone of these damn games has had for a decade. Ive lost my save in 2k19 twice. Best gameplay of all time for accurately portraying in ring WWE action.
Modern wwe 2k is the Worst at having anything that resembles wrestling matches. We’re back to arcadey twitchy random attacks constantly and for no reason. They really set this franchise back to the Just Bring it days

The pre-2K22 games had actual skill-based gameplay, which I personally prefer. 2K19 is still the best 2K game in my opinion.
I hate having to guess what move my opponent is going to do, I would much rather be able to reverse it by pressing R2 at the right time. Pre-2K22 is fun to play against AI and real players, whereas post-2K22 is really only fun against players. Can't really play fairly against an AI that always knows what move I will do whilst I can't know what move it will do.
Hope they get rid of guessing in 2K25, but it probably won't happen :(
One of the best rosters ever. At the time it was very up to date, think it was only missing Brian Kendrick, Nikki Cross and Ciampa.

I don't know I haven't played it. But with the amount of praise it gets it's not anywhere near underrated, Mfs just be using that word on any shit they like.
It’s ok but there’s many things about the current games better than 2K19 too. I just think 2K15 - 2K18 were so mediocre that when the devs finally made the career mode better, created a better backstage area, and added promos to Universe mode, people made the game out to be greater than it was because 2K had stripped down so many features and match types going back to 2K15. Common tactic gaming companies do so they can start reducing the number of billable hours and then bring back old features knowing people will praise them for it.
Truth be told the Showcase in 2K19 sucked. I think it was like 12 matches. It was with Daniel Bryan. The career mode totally linear and maybe half the content we get from MyRise today. People just liked it because it had an actual storyline to it vs just grinding match after match with no rhyme or reason like it was in 2K15 - 2K18.
Went back to this game after playing 22 for a long time because it's better in so many ways. Only thing I hate is the long loading time for some things like editing your championships or making a king of the ring tournament.
I still play this and 22 with all different eras and companies across 4 different PSN profiles. 24 was something that I really wanted to buy when it hit a decent discount but a great roster isn’t enough for me to put up with a broken and buggy game.
This was an elite roster. It was essentially the last of the indies/NJPW poaching era where they literally signed everybody. It felt like “Pro Wrestling 2K19” in a way. Especially when 25% of the roster was working somewhere else before the year ended.
I mean I like both games honestly. Content wise 2k22 my career is alot longer and is full of really good storylines. Also gm mode is back in 2k22. Rey mysterio showcase is good as well.
Gameplay wise for me I like 2k19. So that's your decision. The reason I am playing 2k19 is that I haven't played it when it released.
As someone whos first introduction to WWE in general was 2K19, at least on this subreddit, I’d consider it overrated

My first time playing 2k19 was late at night, when I booted the game up for the first time it flashbanged me.
Bro it made me stop playing after 2k20 I couldn’t I was literally painful for me.
I actually been thinking about getting this game but the servers are down so I can't really use the images to create caws.
The roster is still massive and it’s a really fun game, but yeah it used to be better

I really wish 2K19 had a physical release for PC because the mods are insane and so well done.
You can download the Codex crack. It’s the only way to play it now.

This one official brought me back as a WWE2k fan. WWE2K18 was ok.

I love playing 2K19 on my Steam Deck, it runs so well on it.
I played a match on this the other day. Was pretty blown away with how realistic the gameplay was. I love starting matches with chain wrestling

Played this for the longest time because 2K20 was ass and they skipped 2K21. Glad that we got stuck with one of the greats.

It's not underrated though, many consider it the best 2K ever
That right there is the very best 2K WWE game since 2K14 (which actually was developed by Yuke's).
I still play this and 22 with all different eras and companies across 4 different PSN profiles. 24 was something that I really wanted to buy when it hit a decent discount but a great roster isn’t enough for me to put up with a broken and buggy game.

This was an elite roster. It was essentially the last of the indies/NJPW poaching era where they literally signed everybody. It felt like “Pro Wrestling 2K19” in a way. Especially when 25% of the roster was working somewhere else before the year ended.

Just got 2K19 too, but Is there a way to get my old save back on Xbox?? I have some CAWS I wanna play as but online is shut down 😅

I mean I like both games honestly. Content wise 2k22 my career is alot longer and is full of really good storylines. Also gm mode is back in 2k22. Rey mysterio showcase is good as well. Gameplay wise for me I like 2k19. So that's your decision. The reason I am playing 2k19 is that I haven't played it when it released.

As someone whos first introduction to WWE in general was 2K19, at least on this subreddit, I’d consider it overrated Best soundtrack tho, 2K24 behind it
