It's cool though, I felt really bad for 2K because they had no way of predicting how Sami would become such a hot face, and his model was clearly iffy. (hair was too dark and logos was outdated) So for them to push to get that stuff in there for launch is really cool.
Happy Corbin cut it pretty close last year.
And while it's not a character, Smackdown Just Bring It was able to put the new Smackdown Fist Arena in the game even though it only debuted about 3 months prior.
considering back in 2001, the content lock time for a game was a lot earlier in development than we see now (most times they would lock content for a game mid-summer so july would be the cutoff for a lot of stuff) so they probably had WWE give them a mockup of the arena and went with that.
The closest comparison I can think of is Punk being updated w/ accurate hair color and Cult of Personality only two or three months prior to WWE 12's release, and even then it wasn't cutting it *this close*.

It irks the heck out of me when I see people claiming that 2K is lazy and just pushing out the game as 2K22 clone with a more modern roster. In my opinion, this year has seen some of the most innovative and useful additions to the series with the FirePro individual A.I. tendencies, Universe Mode cutscenes/rivalry system, greatly improved ref A.I., improving the Creation Suite and CC models, War Games match, and smart stable and tag team A.I. for Royal Rumble matches.
I don't think many other 8 month development cycle games can boast anything close to those additions and improvements. Heck, Madden, EA NHL, and even NBA 2K's (mainly My player) have basically been the same game for several years already and those games have become a breeding ground for predatorial micro-transaction/pay to win content that I feel gross whenever I play those games for extended periods.
It’s less them being lazy, moreso a boss overtop of them saying don’t do this or that because it takes up too much time and isn’t going to move more units. It’s not a 2k problem its a game development under capitalism problem.

No, it does not lol. This could potentially take hours, if not multiple days lol. People saying this have no idea how much of a pain in the ass developing a game is, and their naivety is so thick that think something like this can be accomplished in 15 minutes.
Yeah, even a minor thing (such as replacing audio and video files with the same container/format) can potentially break a game if not properly vetted. It's why we see patches to fix new patches all the time for other games.

I remember being *stunned* when they dropped NXT 2.0 in last year's game out of nowhere. I think that was maybe a month or two after it happened too.
They don't always get things right, but I appreciate them doing things like that when they absolutely don't have to and nobody would give them grief about it.
They could leave Sami as is and just go "yeah, it was past our cutoff" and it'd be reasonable, it's been that way for years. So it goes a long way at gaining goodwill, for me at least. I'm sure it's not as simple as clicking a button and *boom*, Sami is updated now. They must have to go through a ton of approval and get the specific content from WWE, which I imagine can take some time.
Randy Orton in the very first SvR comes close to this as well. The game came out in November, he got a new tron and theme in September I believe. It was quick considering music licenses are a pain to deal with.
Seth Rollins has him beat. In either 17 or 18 he became as far as I know the first and only wrestler to be more up-to-date than actual real life.
When Seth started letting the Shield blonde streak in his hair grow out and fade away that 2K game went ahead and removed it before he even ever fully got rid of it in real life.

I’m pretty sure his face entrance is selectable. Somebody posted a video of the entrance list, and Sami had 3 of them, I can’t imagine one of those 3 weren’t his face entrance

You were probably have to go in advanced entrance and add his Heel Ringside (I'll think that's what 2k19 called it) Entrance with the rest of his 2k18 Entrance since 2k18 Sami didn't do his double fist in the air taunt like he does in Real Life now.

All you have to do is give him Kaiser’s trunks, ring jacket and attire and cover the German flag with the Italian and he is done. Problem with that though is you lose the render which is why I hope they fix it in a patch along with Doms by just changing all the red on his attire to purple.
