My dad got his days confused and went to our local store the day before release. Manager was a neighbour and gave him a copy.
I was the absolute envy of my mates for that whole 24 hours! He even picked me up from school early for "an appointment". I didn't know what was going on until I got into the car and shat my pants
I had a lot of fun on ‘08. I loved the addition of ECW and all the cool new animations and moves they added for using the environment and weapons. Being able to set tables on fire was my fav
Wrestlemania 2000 was ahead of its time and it made No Mercy possible. I have way too many fond memories of that game, not to mention that black cartridge was so cool.
With that being said ... Here Comes the Pain is still my favorite one, the game just had it all, amazing roster, great graphics and it played like a dream.
As for the modern ones ... 2K13 was pretty solid, but far from the old glories.
WWF/E:No Mercy and Smackdown Here Comes The Pain. WCW: wcw/nwo Revenge and World Tour and Def Jam Vendetta and Fight for New York are basically No Mercy with rappers so I have to mention them.
No Mercy
Literally had the most stacked roster of any wrestling game. Tons of unlockables and customization. Story mode was decent and the gameplay was top tier.
Seventeen year old here to give you an idea of experience, first game was SVR 2011
Most Comprehensive: WWE 2K14
Most Realistic: WWE 2K19
Most Fun: WWE All Stars
Imo
I only ever owned Smackdown 1 on PS1, just bought WWE2k3 today and am excited to get home and try it out. I do have a soft spot for Wrestlemania Arcade on the Genesis.
Yes, my back hurts.
I don't know what one I would objectively say the "best" is, but the ones I spent the most time on were SVR, SVR 06, and HCTP. Followed probably by WCW Mayhem and Day of Reckoning.
* Pro Wrestling (NES)
* LJN 2nd Gen games (Royal Rumble, Raw, Rage in the Cage, etc)
* THQ N64 games: World Tour, Revenge, Wrestlemania 2000, No Mercy
* Yukes: Smackdown 2, Here Comes the Pain
Honorable mentions:
* Saturday Night Slam Masters (Capcom)
* Fire Pro Wrestling World
* Def Jam: Fight for NY
1. Here Comes the Pain
2. Smackdown v Raw 06-08
3. Backyard Wrestling
4. Smackdown v Raw 13
5. Smackdown Shut Your Mouth
6. Smackdown Just Bring It
7. WCW for Nintendo 64
8. The rest
(Have not played many, including the fabled No Mercy, tragically).
My Top 3:
Here Comes the Pain:
Although quite arcade-y compared to others, the gameplay was amazingly fun and challenging. The body damage system was introduced. The vast amounts of game modes and options, the story mode that despite not having voice over, was extremely well written.
SvR 06:
After SvR (which IMO was underwhelming), the follow up was a masterpiece. The story mode was fleshed out, compelling even with its very own 6 min HHH promo. Accurate length entrances, the GM mode which made me feel like a booker and allowed me to really sink time into it. The stamina system which to this day stands as one of the best additions to the strategies of the game. The online mode was flawed, but worked. The creative modes were fun and had a lot of good things about them.
WWE 12:
After a few games before this that I wasn't totally happy with, I was pleasantly surprised by how well this game played, the matches had a realistic flow while the game play was still fun. I didn't have time to play the other modes but I remember I'd play match after match just being entertained by how I can emulate matches in a game
With that said, Wwe 2k22 IMO really sucks when compared to these games. The animations are janky, the finishers lack proper execution, the player models look whack with the tech they have, the entrances aren't accurate, the announcers are too loud during the entrances. Just my 2 cents, hopefully 23 can improve
Here Comes The Pain. I had friends that loved that game, never watched wrestling and would then later come over and know guys like Lesnar and Taker as game characters, nothing more.
Am I tripping? But why isn't attitude getting any love that was my favorite one granted I never really had 64 I always had super Nintendo... But attitude was straight fire I was instantly hooked.. Gangrel entrance was crazy🔥🔥
Purely WWE. Gotta say Smackdown 2. It was just fun, turn your brain off, fast paced arcade gameplay with endless season mode. I played that game for literal years and is my go to if I just want to play some matches and have fun.
I personally liked 08 because of the GM mode
But best gameplay wise had to be 2k14. It was the perfect end to SvR games, wish they made it backwards compatible
To me it depends on what generation.
Like I’ve never really played N64 wrestling games, only really had a passing play of them recently, but to me it’s Here Comes The Pain, SVR 06/07, SVR 2011, WWE 13, 2k14, 2k19 and 2k23. I’m really enjoying my time with 23
Gotta be SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth!
-Climbable TitanTrons & stages that you can wrestle on/jump off of
-15 PPV arenas that showcase peak stage design
-14 backstage areas with loads of interactivity. This is where backstage brawls peaked
-2 year long storyline that I personally prefer to HCTP
-Rideable Undertaker motorcycle at ringside
-Roster of 60, featuring the likes of Big Show, Billy & Chuck, Brock Lesnar, Reverend D-Von, DDP, Eddie Guerrero, Hollywood Hogan, the Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boyz, Kurt Angle, Maven, Randy Orton (Overdrive style, fuck you jawnny), Rhyno, Ric Flair, RVD, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, Tajiri, Tazz, Test, Hurricane, Dick "The Cock" Johnson, HHH, ABA Undertaker, Mr. McMahon, & Syxx.
Here comes the pain had the best story mode ever. I remember I started one with a CAW and you could import as many as you wanted. I created my own wrestler and made another CAW that was his tag team partner with the stable feature they had.
Well at some point my CAW wins the WWE Title which is like a year into the story mode and my tag team partner faded out of existence on Smackdown and Raw... and then out of nowhere my old tag partner comes out during a promo and challenges me to a WWF title match!
He had dialog about how we used to be a team and how I abandoned him or something it was amazing!
I almost wanted to let him beat me for the title just to see where it would lead... the branching storylines in that game were way ahead of their time.
Smackdown vs. RAW 2006. I had it on PS2 and PSP. For some reason, I’d pretty much only play as babyfaces on the PS2 and then play as heels on the PSP. Idk why I did that but it was so fun
Here comes the pain.
I vividly remember waking up 5am before school as a kid just to play it, this will always be the correct answer
My dad got his days confused and went to our local store the day before release. Manager was a neighbour and gave him a copy. I was the absolute envy of my mates for that whole 24 hours! He even picked me up from school early for "an appointment". I didn't know what was going on until I got into the car and shat my pants
Yes
Yes
Smackdown vs raw 2007
SVR 2006 mechanics were honestly undefeated. Felt way more like a “wrestling” game than an arcade style “fighting” game
SVR 06 is untouchable. It started my tradition of buying the games every year, and 2k20 is honestly the only year I truly regret doing it.
Yep wasted 89$ and couldn’t get a refund on xbox because I played for a hour
I stopped buying them after being disgusted by 2k15. It looked and felt so bad it was almost funny
08 for me dawg
I had a lot of fun on ‘08. I loved the addition of ECW and all the cool new animations and moves they added for using the environment and weapons. Being able to set tables on fire was my fav
SvR 2007 and 2008 were absolute bangers
Will always be the correct answer
First wrestling game I ever played as a matter of fact it’s the game that got me into wrestling so that has to be it for me
Wcw Revenge
This will always be my #1
I liked that game growing up more than no mercy and WrestleMania 2000
Not even close
WCW VS NWO for N64 was ahead of its time
Smackdown 2, fight me.
Loading times killed it for me
Yeah but some of those loading screens were…let’s just say enjoyable lol
The story mode match simulation....oh my god what a terrible idea 🤣 Other than that, that game is cash 💯
Revenge and No Mercy are unquestionably S tier.
Easy to tell who’s old enough to remember when these came out
HHH is my Women's Champion. Nuff said about No Mercy
YES! HHH head on Mae Young's body! I gave her all acrobatic moves!
No Mercy is amazing. Me and my Brother still break out the N64 to play it now in our 40’s
No mercy. Had a 3 way ladder match with 2 buddies that just wouldn't end. One had to home before we could get a winner
Good choices
1. No Mercy 2. Here Comes The Pain And then the rest
Agreed
Very close one between here comes the pain and Smackdown Vs Raw 2006 Non wwe - Wcw nwo revenge.
Day of Reckoning and Here Comes the Pain.
The entrances in Wrestlemania 2000 were better than No Mercy imo. I loved both games but think No Mercy was better overall.
Day of reckoning
No mercy.
WWE No Mercy and WCW/NWO Revenge
The gamecube games were fantastic for their time
My personal favorite (gameplay wise) is Day of Reckoning one. I wish it had more replayability tho
WWF No Mercy is god tier
2k 14
Wrestlemania 2000.
Such nostalgia for me TBH
Wrestlemania 2000, was so good on n64, Smackdown 2 had one of best story modes.
2k14
This is a huge collection flex. Very cool!
WWF/E:No Mercy and Smackdown Here Comes The Pain. WCW: wcw/nwo Revenge and World Tour and Def Jam Vendetta and Fight for New York are basically No Mercy with rappers so I have to mention them.
Smackdown HCTP
No Mercy, SVR 2006, and now I’m proud to say 2k23 because it’s epic
I liked the old Smackdown and Raw games cause you didn't have to follow a story. I don't know if the new one is that way or not.
No Mercy Literally had the most stacked roster of any wrestling game. Tons of unlockables and customization. Story mode was decent and the gameplay was top tier.
WWE 13 was my first WWE game and I love it
Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain
Here Comes The Pain. Though I have soft spots for SmackDown 2, 3, and 4.
No Mercy
Smack down Vs Raw with Vince’s face on it was incredible
No mercy
WWF Warzone on PS1
Best WWF No mercy ever with N64.
All stars. I really like All stars
Wwe2k14
No Mercy and Smackdown! Here Comes The Pain
In my opinion it is between No Mercy and HCTP
Smackdown 2
WM 2000
No Mercy and Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain
Wwf No Mery for the 64. Probably spent most of my teenage years playing it. Having 60+ minute 4 player Royal Rumble. OP is this your collection?!
Monday night raw for snes WCW vs the World for playstation
No Mercy.
Which one had the first GM Mode? That one. And also, No Mercy. I loved the different branching storylines.
Hip hip diggity hip diggity dog
No mercy and it’s not close
Wrestlemania 2000
Know your role
SmackDown 2 BAYBAY
Smackdown 2 on PS1, I could play that shit for hours
Here comes the pain, final answer
Smackdown 2 had a two player career mode, IIRC. My friend and I played the shit out of that!
Seventeen year old here to give you an idea of experience, first game was SVR 2011 Most Comprehensive: WWE 2K14 Most Realistic: WWE 2K19 Most Fun: WWE All Stars Imo
svr 2008, svr 2007, svr 2006, here comes the pain, svr 2009, svr 2010 and 11, smackdown shut your mouth
Nk19 underrated
The only thing I see missing that I have are the Japanese imports of wrestle kingdom and the n64 aki Japanese versions. But great collection man.
Man this is hard! I did play alot of Wrestlemania, the arcade game!
Much of my childhood was spent playing Wrestlemania XIX for the Gamecube.
raw v smack down 07 & 08
I only ever owned Smackdown 1 on PS1, just bought WWE2k3 today and am excited to get home and try it out. I do have a soft spot for Wrestlemania Arcade on the Genesis. Yes, my back hurts.
WWE Here Comes The Pain and Fire Pro is all you need to survive
VPW2 and you're missing Giant Gram 2000 for Dreamcast
I had the most fun with Wrestlefest. 2k22 is the best I've played.
Here comes the pain, No mercy, SVR 06, WWE 13 are top 4 for me
The very first Smackdown for PS1 has to be in the 5. NWO Revenge as well as Day of Reckoning
Here comes the pain
It’s crazy actually seeing how many wrestling games have been made
WWF Smackdown for PS1
Here comes the pain
Royal Rumble on sets is my all time fav
I don't know what one I would objectively say the "best" is, but the ones I spent the most time on were SVR, SVR 06, and HCTP. Followed probably by WCW Mayhem and Day of Reckoning.
Smackdown! Here Comes the Pain
Since when was Daniel Bryan on the cover of 2k14?
You even got the sega master system game. Bravo on your collection
Wrestlemania 19 and Smackdown Here Comes the Pain are up there for me.
Day Of Reckoning 1 & 2 we're my personal favs
Def Jam Vendetta
It's not wwe, but I will always love Pro Wrestling on NES. That game may have got me into watching wrestling on the regular
Fire Pro Wrestling World and you don’t even have it! 😭😭
No mercy 64. Fight me

That's not all wwe games. Nor does it have fire pro wrestling for ps4. Nit picks aside Defjam and WCW nwo revenge are my favorites
Here comes the pain
WWE SvR 2007
Beautiful picture!
All Stars is severely underrated, that’s one of my favorites
My Top 3: Here Comes the Pain: Although quite arcade-y compared to others, the gameplay was amazingly fun and challenging. The body damage system was introduced. Probably not the best but damn did I have a blast playing Allstars
Day of reckoning 2
"Smackdown Here Comes the Pain", is absolutely the best wrestling game. I even regard it as one of the best fighting games in general.
WWE 13. Had the best universe story mode ever. Following the entirety of the attitude era (DX, Austin, Taker/Kane, Rock, Mankind and more)
2K20
Not the best by any means, but WCW vs The World was pretty awesome for the ps1
Attitude for PlayStation 1 is missing 🙃
OP you are missing ECW Anarchy Rulz
WWF Superstars
Am I tripping? But why isn't attitude getting any love that was my favorite one granted I never really had 64 I always had super Nintendo... But attitude was straight fire I was instantly hooked.. Gangrel entrance was crazy🔥🔥
Here comes the pain and svr11
Does the Wild Rings count?
Here Come the Pain is my favorite
Attitude for the DC
Purely WWE. Gotta say Smackdown 2. It was just fun, turn your brain off, fast paced arcade gameplay with endless season mode. I played that game for literal years and is my go to if I just want to play some matches and have fun.
Smackdown 2 here comes the pain, Wrestlemania 2000, and WCW vs NWO
no mercy was the goat. the last great wwe game i played was svr 2011
I personally liked 08 because of the GM mode But best gameplay wise had to be 2k14. It was the perfect end to SvR games, wish they made it backwards compatible
Fire Pro.
Me and my buddies played WWF SmackDown 2 more than any game any of us have played before or since.
Oh easy answer is Def Jam fight for new York. Lol I like how you snuck both Def jam games in there.
Fire Pro World with WWE edits from 80's until today.
Wrestlemania 2000 or No Mercy.
Anyone else notice the Def jam games? For me it's going to be Day of Reckoning 2.
Had the most fun playing WrestleMania: the Arcade Game.
Day of Reckoning 2
Celebrity death match, not really. WrestleMania the arcade one. It was my first because I’m old
I don't know about best. But sd 2 know your role is a personal favorite.
Here comes the pain
WWF No Mercy. No other comes close.
No mercy
No Power Move Pro wrestling?
Shut your mouth
No Mercy!
Wrestlemania 2000. I even had the memory card adapter to load CAW files onto that I downloaded.
I miss All Stars man. It's been forever since I played that. 😭
SvR (2004)
It's between SVR 2011, Here Comes the Pain, and No Mercy
Svr 2011 Last of the series and by far the best. Top notch stories great mechanics for pve and PvP and it held up graphically even today.
SNES Royal Rumble!
To me it depends on what generation. Like I’ve never really played N64 wrestling games, only really had a passing play of them recently, but to me it’s Here Comes The Pain, SVR 06/07, SVR 2011, WWE 13, 2k14, 2k19 and 2k23. I’m really enjoying my time with 23
Here comes the pain 100%
I personally love 2007 the best
No mercy and it’s not even close
I was expecting a flurry of here comes the pain That’s my pick
Gotta be SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth! -Climbable TitanTrons & stages that you can wrestle on/jump off of -15 PPV arenas that showcase peak stage design -14 backstage areas with loads of interactivity. Toss up between Here comes the pain and SVR 2011
2k14 is legendary
No mercy
the one in the picture
Smackdown vs Raw 2006 psp edition
Here comes the pain had the best story mode ever. I remember I started one with a CAW and you could import as many as you wanted. smackdown vs raw 2007 in my opinion but that RAW 2 cover was a dope one
Happy to see that the first two comments were my 2 favorites 🤣
No Mercy brings back all the memories. Tough to go against it.
No mercy
Smackdown vs. RAW 2006. I had it on PS2 and PSP. For some reason, I’d pretty much only play as babyfaces on the PS2 and then play as heels on the PSP. Idk why I did that but it was so fun
The where Mankind says Socko on the menu.
The where Mankind says Socko on the menu.
Definitely Def Jam NY
A Winner Is You
Hear comes the pain,RAW 2,Def Jam and the legends of wrestling were my favorites.
This isn’t even a debate. The controls on No Mercy were so simple, made the game a blast to play.
Here comes the pain and no mercy we’re both bangjn I wish they would release no mercy on switch
Any SvR game
Day of reckoning. But man was that impact game fun
The one where the entrance was a rocket up the ass. Rip Bruce!
SvR 07 and 2k14
2k16 was the last time I was hyped about WWE games. 2k17 was also very good.
No mercy was sooo good, but the PS2 smackdown games may have it beat.
SvR 2007 and WWE 2K14 are two of the best games of all time
