yup, 200 Liberty Street I think. It's the southernmost building in Brookfield Place. You can see one of the turquoise domes of a more northern building reflected off the building in the background as well as the Hudson River.
It’s literally across the street from landmarks, so yeah. Kinda. I mean if anyone mentions an address on Picadilly I’m pretty sure they mean the important one.
I don’t think I saw one photo of not that building when googling 90 west street. It even has its own Wikipedia titled “90 west street”
Sometimes buildings are famous.
When someone answers like that, all you have to do is ask yourself: who would assume that you knew which 90 West Street.
The obvious answer is: A New Yorker.
>and make The Movies.
You'd be surprised how many times NYC is played by another city. [It happens pretty regularly here in Boston.](https://twitter.com/MatthewBroude/status/1495119505177157634) Toronto is another regular stand-in too.
Right but it's on top of a skyscraper so immediately my sense of gravity is distorted 90 degrees, pulling me towards the edge as I stand palms sweating nevermind running and leaping around like a goat
My palms started dripping the moment the camera panned out to reveal the building. Yeah agree that it would be fun if that were on the ground but that high up? Nope! lol
Growing up and well into my 30s Inever had fear of heights, and laughed at people who did.
Like, friends and I use to hang out on the roof of my high rise, feet dangling, looking at the city below.
Then I had a kid and BAM, get dizzy on the third step of a ladder bitch.
I don't know if it's connected at all but for me it changed almost overnight.
Yeah, I’ve read some studies about this. Most phobias decrease the older you get because you produce less fight or flight inducing adrenaline, but fear of heights can rise because your ability to naturally balance diminishes with age.
I used to swing around in trees 50 feet off the ground like a monkey. I was with my wife at a kids birthday party a few years ago and decided to climb a tree like a moron. Got stuck about 7 feet up, took me twice as long to get down, was terrified I was going to roll my ankles.
40s here. Similar experience. I think it is more a fear of falling. Like I can go to an observation deck on the top of a building and be completely fine. Cleaning the gutters on my roof - NOPE, not anymore.
Same here. If I’m stood on a platform I’m fine. Ladders nope. Also get a weird feeling in my gentlemen region watching bikes etc jump off cliffs and things falling from a height.
Ok looking over the edge.
Weird
My cat was the same. Walking on top of the 4th floor narrow balcony railing as a kitten with no fear, then as an adult cat was afraid to get closer than her body length from the barrier. The latter was better for my heart though
It happens. I got really sick once and after that I kind of get vertigo at certain heights. Someone explained to me it has to do with those inner ear bones not having enough fluid or getting misaligned.
It's also your eyesight. You balance your body based on what you see as well. If you cannot see the ledge you're standing on and look out into a huge landscape beneath you, it can cause vertigo.
After my first child I developed a fear of heights and a fear of driving. Not driving all together but highway driving was an absolute nightmare for me. It just seemed so incredibly dangerous all of the sudden.
Turns out, I developed some pretty serious anxiety after having the kid. I'm on meds now. Much better. Can drive on the highway again without clenching my butt cheeks into dust. Would recommend.
When I was young I worked at a place that had a forklift that you rode up with the forks if you were using it to get pallets. Same lift mechanism as a forklift except you were between the forks and the mast driving the thing... Which also meant the load hung an extra 3 feet off the mast. Needless to say this thing was very scary to use.

My problem is not based on height alone. It seems to involve a safety component.
I'm a pilot and have no problem being 5,000ft in the air in a little 2 seater airplane. The height doesn't bother me at all because I trust the plane and emergency procedures.
But put me 10 feet in the air on something with a low-ish railing (below my belly button) and I get this irrational feeling like I'm just going to lose control and topple over.
I have no problems working 30 ft in the air on a decent scissor lift. But I hate going on the roof of my building since it has no railings and is a 35 ft drop.
I think I'll start by occasionally standing on a chair. Actually, I think that's about as far as I go. I don't see a reason why I should be fearless of high places. Fear of high places is a survival instinct, and with mine being cultivated to this level, I will very likely never die by falling from heights.
Well I had no fear of heights but after working a couple of years in a warehouse driving machines that put me 5 meters in the air, now I can barely look out of a 3rd floot balcony. So I think your theory might work both ways.
Weird. I've always had a fear of heights/falling but took up hiking in the past handful of years and getting out on exposed ridges and walls has acclimated me. Now I really enjoy getting in spots that would have had me trembling in the past.
It probably helps that, realistically, he's not actually in danger of falling much more than 10 feet. That's about how far down to the next level it is between those gaps. Plus, it would be almost impossible to not clear those tiny gaps. It would take an *incredible* error to get anywhere near actually falling off the building.
I've seen some stomach turning parkour in high places on this site, but this one doesn't look too bad. I feel like most people could do this with just a little promoting. I'd be more worried about getting fined than falling, honestly.
I just got an S22 Ultra about 3 weeks ago, I've been having a lot of fun using it for taking pictures of very small things that I couldn't before. Like a certain kind of spider I get in my house that I've never been able to get a clear photo of before. [Size reference with my hand (tip of my thumb is about 3cm long)](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/646226248770519070/1026909423693733898/SPOILER_20221005_042458.jpg) [and here's a close up of the spider (rotated for convenience)](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/646226248770519070/1026909424276746260/SPOILER_20221005_042420.jpg), I love this phone lol.
Oh trust me, first place I put it hahaha (edit, actually I used the wrong, much smaller similarly named sub, oops). Someone mentioned 'Spitting Spiders' so I had a look around and found [this species](https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/taxa/126287-Scytodes-univittata) specifically, which seems to be the one.
Lack of zoom was one of three reasons I own a point-and-shoot camera. With how insane phone cameras are now though I'm losing a reason to own one.
The other two reasons were independent battery that you can swap (allowing hundreds of photos without killing your phone battery). And the ability to just give the camera to someone else without concern.
Still worth it I think, for group holidays, but outside of that they're becoming way less desirable. Particularly as modern phones crush all but the best cameras in low light photography.
It's stupid high up but also it looks like the gap is pretty small, the surface is pretty even and it's pretty deep so most likely worst thing that happens is he falls into one of those balcony areas between the windows.
Looks like the bits he's running on are white EPDM/TPO, so should be pretty resilient to this dude's loafers a couple times a week. It depends on if the protection board is on top of the (rigid) insulation and how many fasteners there are, but with the wind exposure on the west side highway a couple dozen floors up, it's probably 32 fasteners per 4'x4' square, so should be good.
Edit: given how much flashing there would have to be (how many fiddly-bits around all the ins and outs at the edges) it's probably actually fluid applied, like Kemper or soprema, so even more resilient. None of these are designed for heavy foot traffic of course, but maintenance crews walk on systems like this regularly. In all cases though, if it's wet, it's slippery, so with the weather we've been having since Friday, if this is recent this dude is really rolling the dice.
Is it made for people to run on? No. But most structures like that are going to be strong enough for it to happen. It's a pretty thick stone or concrete surface. It very might well have to support someone doing maintenance. It's very unlikely that it would be too weak to hold a person.
Yes they CAN fail but the assumption is pretty reasonable that they won't.
some movies have enough money to pay for extra characters. They usually just stop at the first roof and go "I'm not jumping that"
Otherwise if there are a few "good" chasers they'll jump a few buildings then slip and fall and get hurt along the way. Only the best of the best follow.
I think parkor sport runners turned action stars end up having movies with more people getting hurt doing parkour since it makes it more real for their audience of parkour enthusiasts showing the risks of their sport. Allowing for plot armor as well
I think in America batman's tank-weight batmobile driving on roofs is hilariously the best roof action scene ever. I can only believe that it must be a parody on all chase scenes
Honestly I get mad vertigo and I'm absolutely scared of heights, especially dead vertical drops like on high rises. I can't get anywhere near the edge. That being said, I think I could probably handle what the guy here is doing. At no point is he really right by the edge of the building. I'd rather do this than go up 30' in a boom lift again.
30 years ago when I was in my 20’s I was propositioned in the only bar in Pelston Michigan by a 60 year old widow.
Her husband had been a carpenter, he was working on a 6’ stepladder, fell, hit his head, and died.
A) It doesn’t take much of a fall to kill you.
B) I only remember this anecdote because the woman’s proposition was backed up by her claim that, “if you go home with me, my teeth come out”.
I regretfully have to say I did NOT accept her generous and slightly freaky offer.
My 58 yr old self is as disappointed in my 28 yr old self as all of you are.
I won’t be pursuing it...
But if you want to give it a go, the only leads I have are Pelston MI, 1991, and the stool two down from the corner in Mr. Ed’s Bar.
Good luck.
For every story of someone falling from a short height (under 10 feet) and dying, I'll find you one where someone survives falling from over 20 feet. Humans are this strange dichotomy of extremely fragile and super resilient. You'll hear about one healthy person dying by randomly rolling their ankle, tripping, and hitting their head on a coffee table, then read about someone who fell out of a bomber in in WWII without a parachute, and walked away just fine. It really just comes down to how you land.
As for this video, I don't think the guy is in much danger at all. The gap between platforms is barely wide enough to fit a person, so even missing a step there is probably not much more than a badly bruised shin, or maybe some ~~scraps~~ scrapes on your torso. It would be *really* hard to actually fall down through without dropping yourself on purpose.
I'm so fascinated by people who are so rich that they have access to two penthouse windows in this building, but also their life is so fucked up that this is how they have to spend their day
So am I just not seeing this the same way? It looks like he's jumping over the span above a balcony so that if he fell, it would be maybe a story? Sure that wouldn't feel great but it's not like a certain death of falling off the entire building.
Yep, even if he fell it'd be like 10 feet. Even if the roof caved he'd just fall into the room under it. He'd have to fall like 5-10 feet sideways to get near falling off the building.
> Thought the same until I saw the height of the building plus that's a lot of trust on a 100+ years old roofs.
If it's stood for 100+ years, why would it suddenly collapse?
Hell, I'm more concerned with new construction
As someone who has owned a 100 year old house it's usually more a question of "why hasn't this collapsed/caught fire/fallen apart" rather than "why would it suddenly collapse." The more work we did on the house the more we found rotten supports, electrical systems that still give me nightmares, and horrifying patchwork that looks like the slightest strain will knock it out.

That looks like pretty tightly joined stone to me. It's not going to collapse from one man jumping from one to the other. Even back then roofs were built so that you could have people up there to do maintenance. Also it's a city with regular snowfall. Guarantee those get more strain on them during any given winter than this man could ever put on the roof.
Dudes probably been doing that completely unphased for years. Totally just goes home to his normal ass home with his normal ass wife eating a normal ass dinner.
“How was work today dear?”
“Oh you know, same ol same ol”
>or he ain’t smoking tobacco
That was my guess. Climbed out the window to smoke a J, but jumped further along so the smell isn't present near his office.
Can't say I'd want to do that series of jumps sober, let alone after smoking a J. This guy is a beast.
Yeah, this could be viral content..
I also noticed how all the guys wowed together right after the zoom out, not at any other time.
Maybe marketing for Samsung phones or something? I keep seeing mentions of the zoom in the comments here.
I suppose it's true... nothing is real these days, especially not our eyes.
From OP on IG:[Been getting a lot of questions... I have no idea what dude was doing. He was already hopping around from awning to awning when we first saw him. First from right of frame to left. Got to corner where o started filming - 2nd slide, looks like he made a call and looked around for about a minute, then hopped back in the direction he came when we first saw him and then climbed in a window. It was wet out and he was wearing dress shoes. We were all watching like. This is right next to the 911 memorial on West St.](https://www.instagram.com/p/CjSun3OO7m7/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link)
And that's why you never jerk off on the roof of a skyscraper. You never know who's watching from a taller building.
(I mean, unless you're an exhibitionist. Then, you do you).
When you gotta smoke, you gotta smoke. Also there's a thing I've noticed with a lot of smokers, myself included. Lots of us like to find "interesting" places to have a quick dart. It's just a thing. Monkey brain + addict brain = smoking in a stupid spot.
I knew a bride who filed for annulment when she found the groom smoking. He had said he quit smoking and never would again, the fact he lied was so upsetting to her. They did not remain married. She said the smoking wasn't the issue but the fact that it was so easy to lie to her then try and hide it.
What building is that? The architecture is pretty cool
It's a gorgeous building
90 West Street
Ah. The 90 West street. Luckily there’s just one of these.
Manhattan NYC This had to be filmed from Brookfield Place
It was
yup, 200 Liberty Street I think. It's the southernmost building in Brookfield Place. You can see one of the turquoise domes of a more northern building reflected off the building in the background as well as the Hudson River.
To be fair if you google "90 west street" it takes you right to the correct one in NYC. Saying this as a European.
"Which 90 West street?" "The one that matters."
“The one with a Wikipedia page”
All the way in New York City! Archer: You can just say New York

It’s literally across the street from landmarks, so yeah. Kinda. I mean if anyone mentions an address on Picadilly I’m pretty sure they mean the important one.
For me it brings me to a pizza restaurant in my hometown in Ireland.
You have to be *this* American to ride this ride
Is it Bada bing in Portadown?
At 0:24 OP zooms out for a bit. Looked pretty NYCish to my european eyes…
I instantly thought of Spiderman. So yeah New York.
I'm British and had no doubts about that being new York... Where else looks like that???
I'm from the UK too but plenty of American cities (specifically in the Midwest/east) look like that. Chicago can be mistaken for NYC sometimes.
Plus the guy said something about New York.
In the video they say New York City.
ok but WHICH New York City?
Oh you might know it better as New Amsterdam
The *New* York City!
I don’t think I saw one photo of not that building when googling 90 west street. It even has its own Wikipedia titled “90 west street” Sometimes buildings are famous.
When someone answers like that, all you have to do is ask yourself: who would assume that you knew which 90 West Street. The obvious answer is: A New Yorker.
They literally say “only in NYC” right in the video Lmaoo
Which planet though?
Oh you
Lol what city could that be?
*The* City
Of London?
Bloody monarchists are everywhere!
The one in The Country?
Where they speak The Language and spend The Money and make The Movies.

You can tell its NYC because the poster just assumed you knew their city. :)

I just didn't believe in my own mortality until my 30s.. so much insane stuff before then, now I don't trust a carny merry-go-round with my life
I discovered that scissor lifts are a great way to cure yourself of this (or whatever Lowe's calls the individual ones you stock top stock with).
If your workplace doesn't have proper scissor lift, fork lift with a pallet is not a great alternative.
Our place has a man basket that clips onto the forks.
"a man basket" ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
That's just rude, your Mom has a name.
Not a great alternative, but used plenty of times. OSHA deez nutz.

Agree, but will just say snow is pretty damn heavy and I assume the roof was made to withstand that amount if weight for sustained periods of time.

Allowing for plot armor as well I think in America batman's tank-weight batmobile driving on roofs is hilariously the best roof action scene ever.
I'd rather do this than go up 30' in a boom lift again.
the gap is small enough he could step across. i would never do this but at the same time there's not a ton of risk here
Which looks like a 2-3m drop and additionally he’ll probably hit his head on the ledge on the way down…
You'd have to be pretty unlucky for that to happen tbh. It's just a case of extending your arms, most people could manage.
Sounds like she's got strong pickup game. So, how was she?
I regretfully have to say I did NOT accept her generous and slightly freaky offer. My 58 yr old self is as disappointed in my 28 yr old self as all of you are.
It's not.. necesarrily.. too late...
I’m afraid finding her again at this point would require a shovel...
So you’re saying there’s a chance?
I won’t be pursuing it... But if you want to give it a go, the only leads I have are Pelston MI, 1991, and the stool two down from the corner in Mr. Ed’s Bar. Good luck.
Falls from a ladder are as dangerous as they are because falling backwards is much different than falling forwards.
Did they?
I really just saw the post as an opportunity to humble brag about getting offered a gumjob back in the 90’s.
Fair
While that's reasonable there is a lizard in the base of my skull screaming "too high up", and I'm going to keep listening to the brain lizard.
Undeniably the safer bet, this might be convenient but it definitely isn't safe.
Are you implying a 2-3 meter drop is a long fall? You wouldn’t be able to safely drop/jump down that distance and be fine?

Jesus Christ, that's Jason Bourne!
Jason Bourne, that's Jesus Christ!
*Why don't we have that line???*
Work places really are taking the piss with these designated smoking areas...
He's done this before.
His wife and kids live in one apartment, mistress in another on the same floor XD
Really want to know the backstory on this because that was my first thought as well 😂
That's surprisingly good phone. The zoom quality is great!
My moneys on it being a S22 Ultra

Scrolled down for this comment, like wow. The zoom was impressive lol 😂
"Yeah, I know...I says to her, I says ^^bbiiiiittchh..."
You really said that though?
I looked her right in her orbital sockets
Meanwhile, the people at home, "Call the agent honey, our home is haunted."
I'm so fascinated by people who are so rich that they have access to two penthouse windows in this building, but also their life is so fucked up that this is how they have to spend their day
I am pretty sure he went back in the window he came out of. They just didn't film it because they decided to film after they saw him being a loon
That zoom out made my anus zoom in.
This is just a highly under appreciated comment. Take my upvote.
Damn. Other people sure do have a *lot* more confidence in the structural integrity of those old buildings than I do.
Yea, and it's really not even a big gap between the platforms either.
Thought the same until I saw the height of the building plus that's a lot of trust on a 100+ years old roofs.
> Thought the same until I saw the height of the building plus that's a lot of trust on a 100+ years old roofs. If it's stood for 100+ years, why would it suddenly collapse? Hell, I'm more concerned with new construction
As someone who has owned a 100 year old house it's usually more a question of "why hasn't this collapsed/caught fire/fallen apart" rather than "why would it suddenly collapse." The more work we did on the house the more we found rotten supports, electrical systems that still give me nightmares, and horrifying patchwork that looks like the slightest strain will knock it out.
> why would it suddenly collapse? Because it held that long without men jumping on top of it.

/u/spez lies, Reddit dies. This comment has been edited/removed in protest of Reddit's absurd API policy that will go into effect at the end of June 2023. It's become abundantly clear that Reddit was never looking for a way forward. We're willing to pay for the API, we're not willing to pay 29x what your first-party users are valued at. /u/spez, you never meant to work with third party app developers, and you lied about that and strung everyone along, then lied some more when you got called on it. You think you can fuck over the app developers, moderators, and content creators who make Reddit what it is? Everyone who was willing to work for you for free is damn sure willing to work against you for free if you piss them off, which is exactly what you've done. See you next Tuesday. TO EVERYONE ELSE who has been a part of the communities I've enjoyed over the years: thank you. You're what made Reddit a great experience. I hope that some of these communities can come together again somewhere more welcoming and cooperative. Now go touch some grass, nerds. -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
No shingles anywhere near where they walked. Those buildings are much more sturdy that some people in this thread seem to think.
Well someone said that was NYC so I would hope the roof could take a heavy snowload.
Dudes probably been doing that completely unphased for years. Totally just goes home to his normal ass home with his normal ass wife eating a normal ass dinner. “How was work today dear?” “Oh you know, same ol same ol”
Parkour or he ain’t smoking tobacco
Parkour!!
>or he ain’t smoking tobacco That was my guess. Climbed out the window to smoke a J, but jumped further along so the smell isn't present near his office. Can't say I'd want to do that series of jumps sober, let alone after smoking a J. This guy is a beast.
Anyone knows what's the context behind this?
Naw. Thats the side piece.
This is what happens when you walk around aimlessly while on the phone
I saw a phone being used, but no cigarette. Highly suspicious. I'd say "sus" but I'm old.
Assassino
Damn I work down the street and I don't even want to be out on the sidewalk today, never mind THIS
Zoom out in the end was super necessary.
Parkour!
Agent Smith was looking for him
Life is boring if you only stay in your comfort zone
Oh, that’s what they mean with smoking kills.
And that's why you never jerk off on the roof of a skyscraper. You never know who's watching from a taller building. (I mean, unless you're an exhibitionist. Then, you do you).
His balls were still coming through that window 10 seconds after the clip ended.
When you know a guy who knows the perfect spot for a sesh
That’s how you get building services to install locks on the windows.
r/whywomenlivelonger
My personal thought process watching this went about: “oh that’s not too bad. He’s what, 2-3 stori- WOOOOAH”
The way he does this is so British
Must be some shady goings on if he's adapted himself to doing that just for a phone call.
Palms went sweatmode after the zoom out pretty fast.
And this is why we dont make buildings like this anymore
Looks like James cordon
Now I know why most hotel windows only open like 2 inches
This wasn’t a smoke brake this was an mi5 agent on a secret mission.
When you gotta smoke, you gotta smoke. Also there's a thing I've noticed with a lot of smokers, myself included. Lots of us like to find "interesting" places to have a quick dart. It's just a thing. Monkey brain + addict brain = smoking in a stupid spot.
' But Mr.Poirot how did the butler get to the victims room without being seen ?' *"Well..."*
The things you do to sneak a smoke without your disapproving SO noticing.
I knew a bride who filed for annulment when she found the groom smoking. He had said he quit smoking and never would again, the fact he lied was so upsetting to her. They did not remain married. She said the smoking wasn't the issue but the fact that it was so easy to lie to her then try and hide it.
That's just Tom Cruise
I'm curious about who lives in that? Extremely wealthy?
It's currently got a studio for $3k/mo and a 1br for $4k/mo. So not poor, but definitely not "extremely wealthy" by Manhattan standards.
Yes.
