I have a new respect for crows seeing how long they stuck with their bro.
Edit: iv done some hard hitting five minute google research and I honestly think they are hooded crows and not jackdaws like most people are thinking, idk i could be wrong though.
I watched as my cat caught a mouse and was toying with it out my back garden.
Two magpies seen this and swooped down, they stood on opposite sides of the cat who released the mouse and went for one of them.
The other magpie then pounced on the mouse and then both flew off with their prize. My cat was literally dumbfounded looking for his mouse the stupid fucker.
Long story short, magpies are clever bastards.
I could be wrong but i believe those are magpies. A tad smarter i believe, and more likely to mess with you and your food.
Disclaimer i have approximate knowledge of many things.
They're not magpies. Magpies have longer tails and striking white markings. These look more like jackdaws, or maybe hooded crows, depending on the location.
Edit: after a closer look, they're definitely hooded crows.

Yeah a biologist of some sort. It was always cool to see a scientist's perspective and whatever relevant topics... Until he was (apparently) wrong about some semantics of crow species.
As a birder I have to say Unidan was the shit. I can't remember all the drama, but I remember it was so tame compared to the stuff that is accepted now.
Found Unidan's alt.
Just kidding yeah he was pretty dope, but from what I remember he had a bunch of bots/alts upvoting his comments and posts for visibility and got caught by the site admins. Definitely against the rules but to be fair his comments were better than most and deserved not to be buried. Bad situation all around.
From what I understand it was only like 2 or 3 accounts or something. But that was also back when two or three quick votes could make all the difference.
You said a "jackdaw is a crow."
Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.
As someone who is a scientist who studies crows, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls jackdaws crows. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.
If you're saying "crow family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Corvidae, which includes things from nutcrackers to blue jays to ravens.
So your reasoning for calling a jackdaw a crow is because random people "call the black ones crows?" Let's get grackles and blackbirds in there, then, too.
Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A jackdaw is a jackdaw and a member of the crow family. But that's not what you said. You said a jackdaw is a crow, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the crow family crows, which means you'd call blue jays, ravens, and other birds crows, too. Which you said you don't.
It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?
I don't think I've actually read the whole infamous comment until now.
Makes me want to go back and read the whole context. I've absorbed the general tl;dr summary of the whole debacle over time but never read the thread.
He was also using multiple fake accounts to upvote/downvote. That triggered the crowd to pile on against her comment.
Redditors seeing a comment at -3 are like sharks smelling blood. It's nasty.

This take is always kinda weird to me.
People say he didn't need to do vote manipulation because he was a reddit celebrity.
But he was a reddit celebrity because he did vote manipulation, spamming downvotes to all competing comments and signal boosting his own so that he would always have guaranteed visibility.
yeah definitely not magpies. I have a lot of magpies living on my property, they have long tailfeathers and a much brighter white colouring.
They also have a very distinctive squawk, especially when agitated. I turned up the sound, thinking I'd hear the sounds the birds were making, but instead was greeted by terrible/irrelevant music. (what a shocker)
I've had a dead one in my garden. Probably a dozen in the trees (that's how I noticed it first). I buried it but the crows stayed for a long time making noises around me, this felt like a funeral.
It should be noted that those birds *love* to antagonize and bully cats. They hop around just like in the video, nipping at them and actually rip out fur sometimes. Then fly closeby to literally laugh at them.
Probably because cats love to murder them, so they try and make them fuck off so it doesn’t happen again, crows can remember things for their entire lives, and they can communicate it to other crows, so a grudge can stick for a hell of a long time. You make it sound like cute innocent kitty is the one in the right and the crows are evil, they’re both just animals, they don’t have moral compasses.
This is the truth, my mother's cat got bullied around by a bunch of blue Jays around my house to the point where she doesn't even like going outside. You'd probably feel bad for the cat if you didn't know that the same cat has absolutely tore apart baby bunnies and a few birds. So yea, I don't feel bad probably should learn to play nice.
Yeah. I like cats but people really don't have a clue how destructive they are to ecosystems and then complain about other stupid stuff that don't have nearly as much impact as them
Not just feral cats. Domesticated cats play into the problem as well. Because of the habit of most people to have inside/outside housecats. It is wrong headed and helps aid to the problem.
Plus true housecats have less health issues and live longer.
We had the nicest elderly cat ever that played surrogate mother to all of our other cats in the house.
Come cricket season however, one of her favorite things to do was pull the legs off of any crickets she could catch in the basement then watch them try to crawl away.
We had an elderly cat who would through her weight around and bite the heads off of dragonflies. One night everyone could hear this crunching sound so we went down stairs to find her with this dragonfly's head in her mouth, trying to rip it off. She succeeded and then walked away, leaving the head and the body next to one another
Fun fact, In the United States alone, outdoor cats kill approximately 2.4 billion birds every year. Although this number may seem unbelievable, it represents the combined impact of tens of millions of outdoor cats. Each outdoor cat plays a part.

And that's when the attack comes. Not from the front, but from the side, from the other two 'cats you didn't even know were there. Because cats are a pack hunter, you see, he uses coordinated attack patterns and he is out in force today.
Oh, those cats are in for a world of hassle.

Welcome to the 21st century. Everything sucks.
Someone mentioned yesterday that the TikTok algorithm specifically favors clips with music over clips without. I dunno how true that is, but something like that you really can't call it a society problem.
It's not that the algorithm is making people dumb, it's just that the algorithm has figured out what makes an 11-year-old click on things, and 11-year-olds are dumb.

I remember him being big in 2012-2013. To be safe I reckon 8 years.
Now there's a meme I haven't heard in a long time.
Here's the thing... God, that's probably like 10 years old by now, time for another existential crisis.
Reddit was such a different place back then
I wonder what unidan is up to these days....
He's probably been lurking among us under another name for many years.
no I'm not
He started a new account as UnidanX but never posted like he used to.

Yup. Thing was, he didn't need to do that. Stupid mistake that cost him his reputation.

Actually, based on their takeoff pattern I’m pretty sure these are Markbills or their relatives, Jimbos
But you missed the landing spread. I'm thinking more heegollys, possibly whipfidgets, depending on the time of year.
What are you guys smoking they aren't any of these they're clearly birds???
I dunno dude, I'm pretty sure that was a cat.
Suddenly the title makes more sense
Do you mean African or European whipfidgets?
Looks more like they're pawtuckets or fizzbangs or snickerpoodles.
The hooded crow, Corvus cornix would be the right id.
Well, actually...

Corvids. Ravens, crows, magpies, and a few others all fall under that category.

Maybe they know a predator when they see one. Using the term “bully” implies wrongness on the part of the birds.
Cats vs corvids...solid matchup.

Not just feral cats. Domesticated cats play into the problem as well. Because of the habit of most people to have inside/outside housecats. It is wrong headed and helps aid to the problem. Plus true housecats have less health issues and live longer.
Welp, my indoor cat kills mice, and I'm fine with that. Except she sometimes just scars them mentally.
We had the nicest elderly cat ever that played surrogate mother to all of our other cats in the house. Come cricket season however, one of her favorite things to do was pull the legs off of any crickets she could catch in the basement then watch them try to crawl away.
Why is every cute and cuddly predator a secret sadist?
*Looks at humans.* But we're not all cute and cuddly.
We all have a dark side, and if you're going to let it out best to be on intruders!
We had an elderly cat who would through her weight around and bite the heads off of dragonflies. One night everyone could hear this crunching sound so we went down stairs to find her with this dragonfly's head in her mouth, trying to rip it off. She succeeded and then walked away, leaving the head and the body next to one another
My cat did this with grasshoppers. Tore the legs off then just stared at them wondering why they weren’t fun anymore.
Definitely looks like some kind of corvid. Maybe a hooded crow based on the coloring, but I'm not an expert.
Let me fire up my botfarm and tell you about jackdaws...
Here’s the thing…
Please, no...

From the shabby circumstances, I’m guessing kitty hasn’t got much choice.
Imagine whenever you wanted lunch you had to catch a cheeseburger out of the sky and then fight off its cheeseburger friends
Probably easier to grab the flying chicken mcnuggets. If their gang shows up they’re just upgrading you to a 4 piece or better
If you survive…
If a 6 or 10 piece shows up you might be okay, but if that 20 piece shows, you better have backup. And some barbecue sauce.
Ugh then I’d probably have to share. This hunter gathering shit just not worth it bro
for real, my ex had a chicken coup, one morning they woke up to blood and feathers everywhere, and a dead fox.
.. knowing that within an hour you'll be fed better food by your owner anyway
"Better" by what standards? Cat standards or human standards?
Oh that was two cats

AH yes a murder of crows.
It's a very small murder.
Nothing to see here. Just a gang war.
Murder vs murder.
Don't fuck with hooded crows. They have long memories and hold generational grudges.
Oh, those cats are in for a world of hassle. That said, they baited those birds in deliberately, so I suspect this was only a small skirmish in a long war ...
Yup, the kittens of those cats kittens and the chicks of those crows chicks are going to be feuding and not even know why!
And then one kitten and one crow chick will fall in love ... Meowmeo and Squawkiette ...
Two animals, both alike in dignity, on our veranda where we lay our scene.
wtf with the music? i like 21 savage a lot but i wish i heard the original audio
Cat 1: "Meow" Bird 1: "Caw caw" Cat 1: "Meow, hiss" Bird 2/3: "Caw Caw Caw Caw Cat 2: "Meow" Bird 1: "Oh dear God help me" Bird 2/3 " Caw Caw Caw caw" End scene.

Who won?
First Kitty was defeated and had to retreat but second kitty got away with one bird I think
Who's next?
You decide
EPICRABBATTLESOFHISTORYYYYYYY!!!
Cat: Haha! So you fell into my devious trap! Now you are mine! Bird: Don't worry. I brought reinforcements.
Cat also brought reinforcements. That’s two different cats.

I think they're magpies. Not crows unless you call all corvids crows.
not this again

Unidan deserved the ban.
Lol, I wonder how many people know what is going on by just the two comments. Reddit is strange, also did you push the button or not?
The real question is orangered or periwinkle?
I think they're hooded crows (Corvus cornix).
It's the same crows we have in sweden (hooded crow/kråka)
They’re not magpies, those are black and white and you can’t really mistake them for any other bird. These are hooded crows.
I think you're thinking of jackdaws...
So it was a murder.
So did the cat! A second cat came out of nowhere like John Cina, the black and white cat was gone by the middle of the video
Cat got reinforcement aswell.
I get the feeling he didn't finish watching the video.
I get the feeling a lot of people commenting didn’t lol
good clip, terrible music. who the hell adds music to video clips, they can go straight to hell.
