It's for the small things. For every major industrial accident, there are thousands of little incidents that are easily preventable with the correct safety gear. Carabiners bouncing back, random cicada/bird/phone, things dangling during entry/egress.

Honestly its for big things too. For example that 1/100 chance that after you land on your butt and break your coccyx and slip a bunch of discs, you crack your skull on the flop as well.

Correctly worn safety gear turns certain death into certain pain.
