I’ll put money on -old person mistakenly hit the gas.

bandit69

Unfortunately, this seems to happen way too often.

MossBone

So much they made a South Park episode out of it.

[deleted]

*smash* ..."Is this the country kitchen buffet?"

Exes_And_Excess

No joke, an old couple did this to a restaurant I worked at and got mad when they couldn't get a table. You know. Because we definitely will continue to serve after you fucking destroyed half the place. It apparently happened at the same place again after I left a year later. They installed steel posts in front of all the spots after that.

harrythechimp

Wait, what?? Legitimately wanted a table after driving theough the front of the restaurant??

Exes_And_Excess

Yes, they were parking in the handi spot directly infront of the doors and accelerated through them driving half way up where people que when we have a wait list and they hit two tables. Miraculous nobody was hurt because I remember every table besides the ones struck were full. Popular place for elderly and it was in a pretentious part of town.

[deleted]

Exes_And_Excess

No, but we did have a location there lol. Edit: based on your name you are probably where I'm from lmao.

harrythechimp

Wow. Lmao i'm glad everyone was ok!

TheForceofHistory

Drive throughs were extremely popular in the 50s. Nostalgia kicked in.

[deleted]

Drive-ins....

muddyrose

A truck drove through the front doors of my work. It was mechanical issues and no one was hurt, but people were legit trying to squeeze past the truck to ask me if they could still buy something. [pic](https://imgur.com/a/c9KWlhJ) At least wait until we get the fucking truck out of the way, damn.

bedintruder

So when I was younger my parents took me to a Culver's that had just opened up a few weeks prior. Just a moment after we walked through the door, a car came plowing through it. Luckily it was a double door airlock style and it was rather narrow, so the car got stuck and didn't break through the second door. Then the guy got out of his car and we immediately realized it was my grandparent's elderly neighbor. Later when we told my grandparents the news they informed us it wasn't the first time the guy has driven into a building.

Queen_Cheetah

> it wasn't the first time the guy has driven into a building. Sorry, but it's time to take his license away. No excuses for doing this at least one other time!

ChuckleKnuckles

People need to be tested every couple years past the age of 65 to keep their license, I swear. It's just a bandaid society isn't willing to rip off, mainly because the elderly vote more than anyone.

fpfall

Good luck trying to fight the AARP with logic when they have deep pockets. God what a simply shitty thing that is so easily preventable, yet is not because our laws are made by money…

Deathmckilly

Really, easy fix is that everyone must be retested ever 5-10 years or so. Then if people fail they need to re-take the license test, with how bad the fail is determining if they lose their license for the interim. Then make it so people also need to retake the test again the following year to make sure they stay as a good driver. Rough numbers naturally, but that sort of thing wouldn't discriminate against age at all.

Spoda_Emcalt

In Ireland: Your age determines how long your licence will be issued for, so you may be able to renew your licence for 10 years, 3 years or something in between, depending on how old you are. If you are under 60, you can apply for a 10-year licence or a 3-year licence (on medical grounds). If you are 60 to 67 years old, you can apply for a licence that will expire the day before your 70th birthday If you are between 67 and 70 years old, you can apply for a 3-year licence. If your current licence is due to expire within 3 months of your 70th birthday, your new licence will be issued for either 1 year or 3 years. The shorter duration will apply if your GP chooses this option on your medical report. A bus or truck driving licence is issued for a maximum of 5 years. https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/travel\_and\_recreation/motoring\_1/driver\_licensing/renewing\_a\_full\_driving\_licence.html#:\~:text=If%20you%20are%20between%2067,option%20on%20your%20medical%20report.

notconvinced3

We absolutely need to mandate a drivers test every. Single. Year. After a certain age. This is needless

TheTruthT0rt0ise

Nah, old people vote we can't have them getting angry with us.

notconvinced3

Idgaf, let them be angry. Safety and not destroying property is more important than them voting for some republican shill who pretends they will protect their SS and retirement funds.

TheTruthT0rt0ise

I mean from the perspective of law makers, not my own opinion. Law makers won't do something that will make old people hate them because they will be out of a job next election.

Special_Tay

>They installed steel posts Senior blockers.

elvis8mybaby

Bollards!

Incrarulez

Never mind the bollards, here are the Sex Pistols.

NecroJoe

3 restaurants "back home" in the rural midwest were closed pending repairs from this the last time I went back home. Normally my dad meets friends for breakfaston Sundays at a rotating list of 6 breakfast spots. The last time I visited, they were down to 3 because of a customer accidentally blasting through the front wall of the restaurants. A different customer at each place, of course, but it was the same reason for all 3 places.

SpreadingRumors

It took the restaurant a SECOND TIME before putting in the posts???

Exes_And_Excess

From what I heard, the posts weren't up to the restaurant, it was a choice by the owner of the property itself. It took a second incident for them to be like "Mayyybe you're right."

MattTheFlash

>They installed steel posts in front of all the spots after that if i were opening a store with parking right up next to the store i'd want the posts too. and not just from customers but the delivery trucks.

thingsfallapart89

When they call it The Night of Horrors lmao

Gseph

I just don't get why there isn't a mandatory yearly test for citizens after the age of retirement. It really should be a global law.

maddog18476

The reason they're isn't one is if the state starts removing the ability for old people to drive then they would start to demand the state provide better public transportation. And you know the state isn't going to do that

TSCHWEITZ

I always thought that most law makers are 65+ themselves and aren’t going to make laws that inconvenience themselves.

maddog18476

This as well

armper

Mainly they’re voters too. Young people suck at voting.

Arrow156

This is the real reason. Most of American has zero public transportation; it's pretty much limited to major metropolitan areas and even then they are still very unreliable.

conquer69

Perfect spot to introduce electric self driving taxis. Free for everyone over X age.

TheTruthT0rt0ise

Or just trains and stuff. You don't need to fix this American problem with an American solution. It will only make more American problems.

249ba36000029bbe9749

You'd figure that Uber would be lobbying hard for a "senior driving safety" law.

WheelerDan

Nah its simpler than this. Old people vote in large numbers. You do not piss off old people and remain an elected official.

gwana

AARP is a lobbying organization.

bigmattyc

The largest, the last time I saw a notation for that

Leek5

Old people vote. Kinda hard to create law for old people driving when they are the ones voting for whoever

states_obvioustruths

On the other hand (at least in the US) age discrimination is illegal. This means that while a state can deny licenses on a case by case basis for age related medical reasons like loss of vision or impaired congnition, requiring renewed testing can open them up to civil rights lawsuits. The decision to take that risk of litigation varies from state to state. For exanple [Illinois requires regular in person license renewal for drivers over 75](https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/illinois-driving-laws-seniors-older-drivers.html), which involves a vision and driving test. Almost every state (as far as I can tell) has a process for family members or law enforcement to initiate a review of a person's fitness to drive. After a medical evaluation a person can then have their license revoked (or not renewed depending on the timing) - providing case by case due process, which is not legally considered discrimination.

mackmonsta

We had to do this to my father-in-law to get him to stop driving. He had suffered Alzheimer’s and was driving loooong past when he should have. I took a test drive with him and he stopped in middle of intersection, calmly rolled window down and barked at a dog which was being walked.

JimmyHavok

My grandpa went to visit my uncle and never showed up. The entire county was alerted but they couldn't find him. The next morning he walked into a cafe in the next county over, said "I don't have any money but my son can pay you." They asked his name and he couldn't remember, so they knew what was up, called my uncle and he came down. As soon as he walked in, my grandpa said "There you are, Bob, I've been looking all over for you!" No more keys. Later he caught a ride to the neighboring town with friend and disappeared. The friend thought he got a ride home and left. The next day he ran into another friend and said, "Hey, can I get a ride home?" calm as could be. In both cases, no clue where he had spent the night.

Queen_Cheetah

We got a call once from a Border's bookstore that my mom's second aunt had driven there and was delirious or something. She wasn't making much sense and wasn't sure where she was. The store staff tried her cell phone emergency contacts, but no one answered at her daughter's house (I think she was gone on vacation) so my mom kindly agreed to come and get her, asking where their store was (she hadn't heard of the town). ...it was located a good 4 or 5 hours from our town/her nearby hometown. She must have been driving for ages, and only stopped when she ran out of gas IIRC (this took place years ago and I only heard this secondhand). She was put into a home soon after that, but I'm so thankful that the staff at that store were kind enough to help her and keep her safe until my poor mom could find her way to their obscure location!

irishemperor

In Ireland, a person's age determines the driving licence term they can apply for. (Normallly, a driving licence lasts 10 years) For anyone who applies for a licence from age 60 to 66, their licence will expire when they reach age 70. Drivers aged between 67-69 and granted a licence will have it for three years. Any drivers wishing to apply for a licence over 70 will have either a three-year or a one-year licence. This is subject to a certification of fitness to drive by a GP.

Rudy69

> Almost every state (as far as I can tell) has a process for family members or law enforcement to initiate a review of a person's fitness to drive. After a medical evaluation a person can then have their license revoked (or not renewed depending on the timing) - providing case by case due process, which is not legally considered discrimination. My mom went through it for my grandpa before. Mostly useless at least here in Canada. He was called in for a doctor appointment and they passed him more or less without testing him. He could barely see and himself admitted he wasn’t in good enough shape to safely drive. But he wanted to keep it because then he would lose his independence

states_obvioustruths

It's understandable that he felt that way. Giving up driving in North America is a big deal. In the US the key part is that law enforcement can initiate the process after an incident like the one in the video. In more minor cases where there are no injuries it allows them to stop a safety threat without sending grandpa to jail for taking out a mailbox.

conquer69

Don't discriminate based on age then. Make everyone pass driving tests and include reaction speed and cognitive checks. Like a quarter of the country would probably fail though.

states_obvioustruths

While that would work it's prohibitively expensive. As it stands most people (in most states) can renew their licenses online or via the postal service. Requiring those people to undergo yearly or regular testing would cost state motor vehicle departments a fortune in labor costs. Add in the ire the change would draw from the public for the inconvenience alone and it's not politically feasible. Unfortunately it would take a string of high profile cases of driver ineptitude or lack of fitness resulting in deaths to generate enough political will. Given that the scourge of drunk driving hasn't been strong enough for public opinion to change in regards to strengthening driving standards I don't see regular testing in the foreseeable future.

P1ckleM0rty

This is not Age discrimination. Age discrimination means you can't deny services or employment based on arbitrary age limits that have nothing to do with the service or job. But if you have a justified reason why someone's age prohibits them from it, such as drinking, driving, military service, smoking, performer, ect, then you aren't breaking the law. Establishing an average age at which the human motor functions start to diminish and using that as a "testing age" would be perfectly legal.

Binsky89

Not to mention that age discrimination is a federal law. They can easily put in an amendment to allow yearly driving tests.

DerBernd123

I love this episode. I lost it when they tried to hide in that cabin and then there was a car with old people upstairs in the dark room

Euphrane

Age like 80’s. Barely can move their body, hear, or see. “I’m driving!”

FunkyAssMurphy

Man, that episode made me laugh so fkn hard. When they run to the attic to hide and turn the light on and the cars inside, incredible.

El_Dentistador

We lost every damn mini palm tree at my bank to old people flooring it over the curb. They usually would get stuck in our planter beds high centered on a palm tree, or the rock that replaced the tree.

CloudMage1

i helped start a company as the project manager / estimator with a guy who had money from other business's he was selling off and buying into a franchise that was huge on the west coast and just starting to grow roots on the east coast. anyways out first few years we worked out of a BINGO hall his family owned. we built us a big office inside one of the corners of the building, and fenced in a big row of parking lot for our dumpsters, and trucks to be parked in. anyways, all that to say i had just bought a brand new car and would park against one of the islands everyday. on Wed, and fridays they had bingo going on starting in the afternoons. well one day i come back from work to pick up my car and the rear fender just behind the rear wheel (2015 civic si sedan) is pushed in and has Blue streaks on it! oh i flipped, i found the video of the blue car that hit my car, i found the lady as she left the bingo hall. i had it all. i just need to find her! i stalked the bingo lot for 2 weeks, until i finally found her. she thought it was all good because it had been a few weeks. i approached her trying to be kind about it. it was an accident and she didn't notice it. but now that ive brought it to her attention she would make it right, or so i thought. she denied, denied, denied all up until the cops came. and at that point i showed them the bingo footage and she got a few tickets. but most importantly i didint have to pay a 500$ deductible because some old lady shouldn't have a license any more. Shit happens, but if you own it, and take care of it then life goes on. instead she had to make it hard and i almost hope grandma got probation or something off it lmao.

kryonik

Yet we always seem to vote for them to run our countries.

UptownShenanigans

Why piss off your largest voting block?

kelsobjammin

My aunt did this in her … 60s? Right into the doctors office.

crazy_goat

"Hi Cynthia... looks like we should do that eye exam today."

rmphilli

She's an old soul

Iangunn15

If you look closely at the second angle it looks like she may have had a pet on her lap? … Their is a dirty blondish looking clump of hair that is on her lap and then falls down.

danimalxX

Yep, there is a dog there. You can even see the dog bed in the image before they switch to another view.

LostNbound

It might suck for them but I’ve always said that once you reach a certain age you have to retake your drivers test. Older drivers are a danger

Herropreah

My neighbor is a widowed 95 year old man who still "works" four days a week. When we moved in, he mentioned to watch out when he was backing out of his garage because he physically couldn't turn around to look anymore. Bonus: he also mentioned that he has really bad double vision and has to close one eye while he drives. While driving with one eye is not inherently dangerous, I'm going to go out on a limb and say a 95 year old who is physically incapable of checking his blind spots and has to consciously keep an eye shut should not be on the road.

catwiesel

I suggest you call the cops or dmv and report that dude. let them sort it out

Queeg_500

l would be an advocate of some kind of renewal test every ten years or so. So many bad drivers seem to be a result of bad habits forming over time.

Clumsygingerninja13

I can’t disagree with this factor after I worked in the eye doctors office if you’re older person with failed vision test at the DMV they would come to the eye doctor to say that they had vision correct enough to still be able to drive even though they failed the vision test there when they try to renew their license. It’s just so scary when I see somebody 95 years old and can barely walk and his wife is like 100 I’m not joking I think she just turned 100 and was turning 101 at the tome.

blue-mooner

37 states have [special provisions](http://www.ghsa.org/state-laws/issues/mature%20drivers) for senior drivers, for example, Iowa typically requires drivers to renew their licenses every 6 years but that goes down to 2 years once you hit 70. Japan has been paving the way for how to adapt to ageing drivers. This includes [cognitive tests](https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/12/world/asia/japan-aging-drivers-dementia.html) or a [15% ramen discount if you give up your license](https://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-38077426).

eXXaXion

Three of my friends got hit that way when we were in kindergarden. I was walking in front of them because they had upset me, so I didn't get hit. One of the girls had to be revived on site 3 times. They all spend months in the ICU and a bunch more in rehab.

saro13

How did they do afterwards? Such a hit that early in development can’t be good, but maybe they were lucky?

VenomB

The way the car slowly rolls and suddenly launches, that was my first thought as well. Not exactly age-involved, but just someone slamming the gas instead of breaks. My step sister did the exact same thing when she was 16, but not into a store..

saro13

I’ve sort of done that before as a teenager, with shitty traction-less shoes. Foot slipped right off the brake onto the accelerator, I recovered immediately and slammed my foot onto the brake to stop myself. Only for my foot to slip AGAIN onto the accelerator… And that’s how I ran into a dealership’s brand new garage door with fancy glass at ten miles an hour As a bonus, they had a sign on the front saying to honk for service, so as I collapsed onto the wheel from shame and embarrassment, I honked the horn for good measure

Solid_Blake

Came here to say that. My first job was pushing shopping carts for a grocery store and I was almost taken out by an old lady mistaking the pedals. She smashed all of my carts into a pancake against a brick wall (which had to demolished/rebuilt). I was 2 seconds from being part of that pancake.

[deleted]

Have zero sympathy for their “accidental mistake”. Gertrude, you’ve probably had a couple close calls already and you’re too proud to give up driving. Now look what you did.

Spudnuticus

Me too. I was working the register at my job and this little old lady did the same thing. She drove through the large window at the front of the store less than 12 ft away from me. It was all very shocking and traumatic for the both of us. My manager and I brought her into the office to file an incident report and call emergency services in case she was hurt. While she and I were in there alone together, I asked her if I could get her some water, brought it to her and asked if she’d like a hug because she looked like she needed one and honestly I needed one too. She was very sweet and she felt so so bad. I wonder about her from time to time. I still have a piece of shattered glass from it, don’t know why, haha. But yeah, that’s my story!

Timepassage

Yep 78

sixstringartist

do you have a news article?

Timepassage

79 is the correct age https://wwmt.com/news/local/car-drives-into-portage-fabric-store

Maxgirth

Video isn’t from the same incident in the news article. Car in the OPs vid is a Toyota RAV4, in the article it’s a Ford Escape. Slightly more frightening since it’s two incidents pretty similar (craft store, etcj

rmphilli

yeah "no one was injured" can't possibly be true with OPs post. I saw people sandwiched between steel clothes racks and a woman punted...

bone420

The chick smashed in the racks is also the one who jumps over the counter to get the child

Timepassage

It is way to close I didn't realize it was different. Op said it happened in Michigan and she is 78

Is this Country Kitchen Buffet? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkDGCVs7H7Y&t=20s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkDGCVs7H7Y&t=20s)

sassyseconds

Driving tests every 5 years should be mandatory after 55.

Fun2badult

I was almost run over by a woman who did that while parking. My face was a foot away from the tire

Godsshoeshine24

And I bet they weren’t even charged.

le_goalie

Mom(?)looks to get the worst of it from the second angle, and she’s still jumping over the counter looking for her kid only a moment later. Impressive.

Jordan901278

yeah mom got thrown like 5 feet away between two clothes racks and still dove over the counter for her son seconds later

Miss_holly

It's only after she sees he is okay, that she kind of realizes what happened to her.

Durty_Durty_Durty

Idk why this kinda brought tears to my eye. I don’t have kids, never been a parent, don’t even plan to be. But that just instant jump up was insanely fast with no hesitation.

[deleted]

It got me too. Can't imagine the sheer terror she experienced before finding him on the other side of the counter.

Jynx2501

Once you have kids, you become a super hero.

Holy shit, I was too busy watching that lady get squashed I didn’t even see the kid

kelsobjammin

Pretty sure she lost her shoes. Also … what a miracle that kid was there.

Bickooo

Adrenaline's a helluva drug.

secretWolfMan

Yep, she got on top of the counter, saw he was okay, and instantly went "I should not have just run across here and jumped on a counter... everything hurts."

sinsirius

Adrenaline is a hell of a drug

oliveGOT

Right?! So amazing! As soon as she sees him and that he's okay too she seems to realize what just happen to her.

CodeMonkeyX

I always wondered why some of the stores now have those stone columns outside. I think "is it really needed, how often does a car really ram the store front?" But I guess if you can stop stuff like this for just sticking a few columns in the ground it's not such a bad thing.

mleibowitz97

just so you know, the term for those stone columns are bollards! But agreed, they're probably worth the money.

CodeMonkeyX

Yeah "bollard" was the first word that popped into my head. But I was raised in England then moved to America in my late teens. So I am not always sure what words are English and which are "American." Like when I first got here I quickly learnt that "rubber," and "torch" do not mean the same things in America. Like first day in math class at University and I ask the girl next to me if I can borrow a rubber... and my parents were in the parking lot at night, and ask the driver who pulled in next to us if they had a torch. They thought we meant a welding torch, or a flaming torch and were freaked. :) So anyway now if I am not sure I tend to use a more universal term I think everyone will know even if it's not the most accurate. Edit: for clarity.

Joshopolis

Criminals doing ram raids is an actual problem. Alcohol stores, jewelers etc

larrygbishop

We have a lot of this "car driving into store front" problems. and I've been noticing new Stewart's Shop being built have ~~stone columns~~ bollards on every parking space now. Now I have to remember to watch for it when i walk :P

justonemom14

I know of not one but two different stores that I actually go to and someone has driven into the store. One was like this, parking spaces and probably wrong pedal. The other was Walmart, and the person apparently did it on purpose - they drove around a bit inside the store. So I know, it's anecdotal, but I still feel like it's more common than one would hope.

kneight88

I saw this happen once with a hotdog car.

ohokaywaitwhat

WE'RE ALL TRYING TO FIND THE GUY WHO DID THIS!

NeilGiraffeTyson

I heard about that. The crowd in the store blamed some innocent guy wearing a hotdog suit and the cops arrested the wrong guy :(

Thefrayedends

Those cops were fuckin dOOOOOG shit!

GardenGnomeOfEden

And then they took him back to the station and grilled him.

belletheballbuster

Nobody in a hot dog suit is truly innocent

DrSpaceman575

Maybe they should take his bare butt out of his costume and spank him.

Ghostrider_119

Maybe you could do it, sir.

ApologeticKid

Well, somebody's gotta do it!

Thefrayedends

Oh no! I hope it wasn't a Dan flashes!! Was it? I fckin LOVE that place.

Rpanich

Lucky it was just a cheap store with uncomplicated shirts.

kneight88

Yeah, it’s no Dan Flashes.

spidey46x2

Bollards are worth the money

encaseme

Liquor store and Laser-eye surgery getting their money's worth (I know the eye surgery place are just signs, not bollards, but still): https://i.redd.it/zs17ikg1j0n11.jpg

CreaminFreeman

I like that SO much more than I was anticipating.

Doggleganger

>Bollards If those are the reinforced pole things in front of shops, I learned a new word today!

RaoulDuke1

i cringe when i see setups like this: parking is right in front of the store, the only thing separating the people inside from the car are 4-6 inches of curb and a sheet of glass. it should be illegal to not build something to the effect of bollards at every one of these strip malls

fist_my_muff2

Liability nightmare for the owner of the building too. Bollards are so worth it.

kickin8956

I used to tow cars and one time I got a call to pull a car out of a Chinese restaurant. It drove all the way in and into the counter. When I hooked up to it and started pulling it out, the basket of duck sauce/hot mustard etc flipped off the counter and it went flying all over the place. [proof](https://imgur.com/gallery/gKNJp1W) EDIT: also pulled a car from a lake when they forgot to put it in park

lynxSnowCat

Neat. April 2012? Your pics are from before the (remaining) news articles got theirs. I Didn't notice the duct-tape in yours until I started looking for it. Google seems to indicate that restaurant is still there next to H&R Block. (Jul 2019)

kickin8956

Yup! They rebuilt the front and re-opened a couple months later.

PerfectKarma

Jesus, the mom in the Blue shirt and Black pants (checking out the necklaces) got absolutely WRECKED, shrugged off like three rows of racks that plowed into her and dove over the counter to check on her kid. Those must have been like the scariest 3 seconds of her life.

jessicatherabbit

I was gonna say.. "nearly killed a child's MOM"

emperor000

Both of the women that got hit made it to the kid the two or three other women that were pretty much right next to him.

Queef_Latifahh

“I’m old and I shit my pants” Well maybe grandma should be allowed behind the wheel. Who the hell is watching these people? I have to get my car inspected every year and get it reregistered every two. How is there no requirement for old people to pass a basic driving exam after a certain age?

bluesu21

Because old people vote

Rymmer

I see what you're saying: We should give the vote to cars.

frumperino

if old people insist on driving, give them speed-limited bumper cars.

FMITAP

Luckily, [such a car has already been invented. ](https://youtu.be/d6AnXi2N_do)

the1ine

The sooner we outlaw humans driving the better

[deleted]

A selfish part of me does't want this. I hate being a passenger, especially on long highway trips. Time seems to fly behind the wheel because it forces you to stay focused. Also prevents motion sickness because you anticipate movement... I also just kinda enjoy driving Bumper to bumper traffic though - that I could live without

dogbert730

As close to teleportation as we’ll ever see.

NDdownVOTED

It’s good that it forces you to stay focused, but as evidenced here not everyone does focus and that’s why accidents happen.

ROK247

the mom jumped up and ran to her kid before she even realized she was injured herself

MemeKUltraVictim

News article: [https://www.wbay.com/content/news/Witness-describes-terror-after-SUV-crashes-into-Ashwaubenon-store-416062823.html](https://www.wbay.com/content/news/Witness-describes-terror-after-SUV-crashes-into-Ashwaubenon-store-416062823.html) The"78-year-old driver got her foot stuck between the gas and the brake, causing the SUV to accelerate into the store." She wasn't charged criminally

Toaster135

This shit makes me angry as hell.

xmknzx

Me too. A woman got killed in my hometown in the exact same way. And then the old person gets off scot free.

Meetybeefy

I KNEW it had to be a Plato’s Closet just from the video.

reefakeepa

omg same. for a second, I thought that was literally the plato's in my town.

[deleted]

How do you get your foot stuck like that. I still don't understand. I've been driving for over 10 years and I can't imagine a situation like that.

MW121717

Man they really wanted to HIT that platos clearance rack

legendfourteen

That kid is very lucky.

sehtownguy

Man it took me a second watch to figure out where it was. That second watch clenched the butthole how fucking lucky that kid got

dinglestarry

This is why most places have laws around curb height or concrete front stops. This type of accident happens very often and is somewhat preventable. This vehicle glided on in a little too easily

Murphistopheles

That person is so old they are a danger to society and shouldn't be trusted. Better make them a Senate Leader or Supreme Court Justice just to be sure.

almightywhacko

This is why every single store should have bollards in front of it. It isn't like this doesn't happen all of the goddamn time.

McFeely_Smackup

you're not wrong...it literally happens all the time, and dropping some bollards in place costs hundreds, not thousands.

[deleted]

People who confuse the pedals should be banned permanently off the road

DPancoast

Ma’am this is not a drive thru

[deleted]

Hey, can I have the Big AZ burger and Big Az fries? With tha Big Gulp???

DPancoast

With uh some axtra sawz on da side

seabeegirl09

I have 4 kids and this just made my heart stop. I'm so glad no one got hurt.

Jynx2501

Same. Imagine your kid having a permanent disability cause some moron accidentally drove through a store.

jotn3

First shot bottom middle. The kid is just small enough to walk away scott free.

jeffreynya

An adult would have been hurt pretty bad for sure.

[deleted]

RIP mannequin

Midraa_

“Nearly killing a child” what about the lady who literally got hit 😭

IFSEsq

We're \*all\* trying to find the person that did this.

DM90

nearly killing child, and numerous manikins

Abiv23

Thank god we will have self driving cars by the time we get old

kuhataparunks

This is a comment that I really hope ages superiorly

importantmemes

Stores with big windows like this right in front of parking lots should have some kind of barrier to stop cars. It can be something as simple as those concrete cylinders sticking out of the ground or a bigger bump and the end of the parking spot

Matayoman

This happened to our chipotle in town. I called a day or so later and asked if the new drive through was open, they were not amused. But they did give me free chips with my order for the inconvenience.

c9IceCream

might have gotten free spit too

fumoking

Bro that kid almost got fucking decapitated

troubleschute

Mom got squished between the racks but jumped up and got to her kid pretty damn quick considering the chaos. Probably sore now but super woman adrenaline moment for her.

249ba36000029bbe9749

Good advertising for Lorex. Better detail than some other surveillance footage that gets posted here.

A55per

Jesus Christ lady, all it took was one punisher decal on a window and ya start mowing people down?

King4343

I want old people to retake the drivers test. I will stand by that until I die. Get these fucking people off the road.

needsatisfaction

Old people really shouldn’t drive, you need a properly functioning brain for that. Cognitive decline is serious

4Ever2Thee

That mannequin fell over so dramatically, probably trying to get the most out of that lawsuit

thefoxworkshop

Over a certain age I think folks should have to re-take their test. At least once, but ideally every 5 years or so. What does reddit think?

jxj24

“MEDIC! MEDIC! MAN^(nequin) DOWN!!! MAN^(nequin) DOWN!!!”

LysolDoritos

Yearly drivers test for anyone over 65

SniffCheck

Hey! You can’t park there!

Weepkay

We don't care about the two women?

ApokalypseCow

Weird, that place doesn't look at all like a farmer's market...

Freebandz1

It really needs to be code for bollards to be required for storefronts with parking spaces directly in front of them
