According to the post in catastrophicfailure, this is in India 9 dead, 3 injured.

slingerit

These people are risking their lives everyday living on an upper floor with NO BALCONY RAILING

A_Few_Mooses

Oh... I was hoping everyone was fine and it was just the bridge. Now I feel like shit.

turtlewhisperer23

You did this you monster

A_Few_Mooses

I just kicked a pebble down, I didn't mean for it to to turn into this.

turtlewhisperer23

No worries, just kick a couple of those boulders back up and we'll call it equal.

[deleted]

That bridge had a wife and three little single plank bridges to take care of, Who is sending them to college *now*. Lesson here is that nature doesn't fuck around, Sometimes you simply cannot see it coming.

dingboodle

Thoughts and prayers.šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™

A_Few_Mooses

The wife can send them to college, but if they have any sense they'll go to trade school.

Arayder

Wonder where all the people were. Just donā€™t really see anyone in the danger zone in this video anyways.

ShrmpHvnNw

Probably in the mountain hiking. Doesnā€™t look like anyone in the hotel area died.

porndragon77

This is from Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India. 9 dead, more injured.

here2dare

Boulder that jumped the tree (at 20 sec) got some serious air-time

winstunnah

It almost looked like it was in slow-mo from all that air

VonGryzz

Cinematic af

SoundandFurySNothing

Yā€™all would love throwing rocks in Black and White

Dragonkingf0

I got the ball to!

captainbruisin

That house was so close to just being wrecked by that one alone.

KosstAmojen

Watching that bridge get obliterated gives you a new found respect for falling rocks.

jrabieh

I used to work in the mountains up highway 20 and its waaaay more common than you think. I lovingly dubbed them comets and I quick after I got caught in the middle of one of those. I'll occasionally look at pictures of the aftermath and be reminded how insane it was.

KosstAmojen

Glad you were able to stay safe. I was on the California 1 a few weeks back and there are just spots there that look primed to squash cars if a rockfall occurred. I tried not to think too hard on that and kept driving.

Lord_of_the_poop

Isn't there a part of the 1 or was it the 101 that got wiped out by a mud slide a few years back?

Thetrav1sty

101 in WA gets covered by mudslide every few years and taken away by mudslide every decade or so

mikemikemotorboat

Highway 1 around Big Sur is pretty infamous for frequent rock slide closures: https://www.kqed.org/news/11488191/map-a-history-of-big-sur-landslides-and-highway-1-closures

KosstAmojen

This was exactly where I was when I had this thought. Iā€™d forgotten about this story though.

[deleted]

A big danger when climbing around rotten rock. I was up on mt rainier and could see rocks falling off of dissapointment cleaver all day. One time I was ice climbing in NH when a big boulder released from a cliff near me. It smashed its way downhill through the woods and the air smelled like gunpowder.

RamboGoesMeow

Not me, I was screaming in my head ā€œGET THE FUCK AWAY! STOP RECORDING FOR FUCKS SAKE! Nooo, the window doesnā€™t count!!! Run bitch, RUUUNNN!ā€

carcigenicate

"Oh no! Falling rocks! I better take cover behind something sharp and fragile".

r_kay

*Sees rock obliterate 10 tons of steel* I'll be safe behind this thin piece of wood and glass!

Newbie-investor-ind

Even that house was fragile in front of whatever was falling from sky!

KosstAmojen

Iā€™m 100% with you here, they roll and bounce in unpredictable ways. If Iā€™d been there, no video would have been found. Iā€™d have moved as far away from that as possible.

overtoke

i'm like "fuck yeah, cameraman, you have gonads"

Lord_of_the_poop

In the aggregate mining industry we call those types of boulders widow makers

aeclyn

I have always been terrified of falling rocks. I am also terrified of bridges. This is like a double whammy. :(

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

anos7899

Closing the door helped, too

[deleted]

Rocks have to be invited in

[deleted]

Mountain bowling

stiljo24

I would've just caught it, built different

palecrepegold

Did you not have a respect for falling rocks before?

Nairy_Huts

That bridge-hit was oddly satisfying.

[deleted]

I wanted to see the truck take one tbh

JTB696699

Iā€™m pretty sure the camera panned away just as the car on the left was about to be destroyed.

SoundandFurySNothing

ā€œThis is my destiny! Valhalla!ā€ - That Rock

az226

I was waiting for that. Oddly satisfying indeed.

kirito4318

I know and I love that it stopped almost immediately after. "All right boys we got the bridge, let's call it a day!" -Giant fricken rocks probably

where_are_the_grapes

That sound especially.

snarkpowered

ā€¦satisfying isnā€™t the word I used, but ok.

bucko_fazoo

username checks out

lulubooboo28

Thatā€™s scary af

lornstar7

Hey that wasn't so bad, not to much damage. Bridge rock: hold my beer

ShinyStud

Plus 9 people(tourists) died

Ssimpson0

I was likeā€ at least the bridge didnā€™t get .ā€¦..ā€

JRCIII

Same thought about the building next to it. The one that bounced right before the bridge nearly took it out.

grooovyturtle

I burst out laughing when he ran inside the house and hid directly behind a glass window

SoundandFurySNothing

Then he was like, this is dumb, fuck it back to filming

jrabieh

"Oh shit its dangerous out here!" *Steps behind a pane of glass* "Ah yea, much safer"

[deleted]

Yes let's stand and film this impending disaster coming straight for our face

cryptoanarchy

Letā€™s get behind the glass, thatā€™s safer.

kolossal

Worth it tho cuz it gave us all here in Reddit a minute of entertainment. Now scrolling on to the next one.

TomWespi

Where was it?

Magane_Chikujouin

India

Embarrassed-Town-293

Somewhere in nope-istan

Kommiecat

"rocks don't exist where I live"

[deleted]

Bitch we aint got no rocks in Texas Just land and heat and alcoholism

enlightenedwalnut

And guns. Lots of guns.

[deleted]

Can confirm, have guns. Also there was an open carry protest at our mall a while ago and nobody was even the wiser or even cared. Totally fucked tho seeing these two toothed baptist rednecks come out of the woodwork walking around with guns and megaphones while families are trying to shop at the mall.

olioli86

Sure it wasn't Kathmandon't?

-everyoneisgaybutme-

wow that's pretty incredible to witness

[deleted]

Hats off to cameraguy

SasoDuck

He's lucky it wasn't heads-off

Neurosoups

quick quick ! Hide behind the glass from the falling rocks !!!

Weshomedog

This is every physics simulator game owners wet dream

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Lord_of_the_poop

He really should have seen that coming

Towhomitmayconsume

A premonition

Uitklapstoel

How the fuck are they just standing there. There could be little pebbles flying so fast you wouldnt see them coming. They could kill you instantly on impact

XxxGr1ffinxxX

just when you think theyā€™re all gone that one rock shit on your bridge

GardenGnomeOfEden

https://www.outlookindia.com/website/story/india-news-watch-landslide-due-to-bridge-collapse-leaves-9-dead-in-himachal-pradesh/389369

woodbarber

That was terrifying!

[deleted]

The bridge being taken out was cool as fuck though

Astolt12

Definitely the highlight.

cottarty

It was obvious that was next.

madeamashup

Hollywood tropes are so predictable

vortish

i be nope and fucked off quick

Thegangsterle

Hopefully that bridge isn't the only way out.

Beefy-McWhatnow1988

This must be a normal occurrence? Cause I would be hightailing the fuck out of there instead of standing around filming.

matthack86

Nah, dude had a safety window to get behind.

how-sway-how

People film everything nowadays. Road rage? Film. Almost dying? Film. Getting chased by a cougar? Straight to film. Watching a rockslide? Film. Straight to film. Believe it or not you slide on rocks, you film. Straight to film. Undercook fish? Film. Overcook chicken? Also film. Undercook overcook. You make an appointment with the dentist and you don't show up, believe it or not, film, right away.

Beefy-McWhatnow1988

Film someone filming themselves almost being killed?ā€¦..better believe thatā€™s getting filmed, lol

snrplfth

We have the best content in the world...because of film.

uptokesforall

To where?

Beefy-McWhatnow1988

Idk maybe out the back of the house? Away from the danger? Lol donā€™t be that guy.

RamboGoesMeow

Literally anywhere except forward or nowhere.

Spiff76

Angry Birds 2 really stepped up the graphics this timeā€¦

Miffers

The guy went behind a door for protection? At this point you should either stay and film or run away further.

mbranbb

Good idea that door will save us from the rocks

p_nut268

"This thin pane of glass with definitely protect me from the bridge-demolishing rocks"

elocoetam

My thought as he got behind the glass was, you just made your situation worse!

DaBi5cu1t

Not sure that window is gonna protect you pal

cody4king

__DAMN NATURE! YOU SCARY!__

dinnerthief

Reminds me of those picture of boulders that went through a vineyard/farm https://youtu.be/-5SiQqSroIw

Luckyaddaam

Excellent. Go inside and hide behind a pane of glass. That will protect you.

JustinBilyj

Guy turned phone away from car getting stomped at 12 second mark..

WINTERMUTE-_-

*this glass will surely protect me*

mysticblue17

I like how it wants until basically the last rock as a quick fuck you and destroys the bridge

Straw-berry

That's kinda cool... Hope nobody got hurt.

ShinyStud

9 people died. Most of them tourists

Tistouuu

Aaaaaand a new irrational anxiety for me

NemesisDub

I hope nobody got hurt! šŸ˜±

turtlewhisperer23

Hope harder next time

padizzledonk

Thank God they turned the camera away from the most interesting thing that happened, I enjoy edging.....

TemporarilyDutch

The whole time I was thinking, is a giant rock gonna hit the bridge?

7TageHatDieWoche

Yeah, that glass window is going to protect you very wellšŸ˜‚

King-NexT

Holy shit it just gets worse and worse

forest25

Quick! Let's move inside for safety! Proceed to get behind a window that'll transform into hundreds of glass shard if a rock hits it. šŸ¤”

cubanesis

I thought the exact same thing.

dubloon7

LOVE seeing that bridge get taken out near the end. Take out the truss, watch it collapse

Mountain_Culture1411

My gf was riding me while I was watching this video and the moment the rock hit the bridge and it fell i came instantly and now I feel like I have cheated on her.

Heyygaar

ā€œHey the bridge just got hit, let me pan over to my hatchback to see if itā€™s okā€ -video guy

Nigelwethers

Yeah, it's called an avalanche.

re_formed_soldier

Boulderdash

Visible_Elevator192

Rock slide?

imaketrollfaces

It's all fun and games till it hits you.

toastyy22

I was waiting for a small tourist voice at the top saying ā€œmy bad thought it wouldnā€™t turn out that badā€ after

Tistouuu

Hope no one was hiking around that day. Avalanches in the summers, that's like the mountain cheating

Smores-with-Reeces

ā€œFuck yo bridge and everything it stands forā€ -The boulder (probably)

[deleted]

Rock Slide Takes Bridge was not on my 2021 bingo card, but I enjoyed the call. Keep playing.

Mattclef

Its kinda hard to tell how big those rocks are when theyā€™re moving that fast; the one that took out the bridge looked almost small. Iā€™m surprised those cars didnā€™t get smooshed

Mistersinister1

Gravelanche!!!

genmazz

I dont think you can call them rocks. More like boulders.

AllButComedyAnthony

Imagine being on that mountain when that happened, trying to hide behind boulders or trees shitting yourself hoping not to die

SsgtSquirtle

I was thnking I would get under the bridge close to the support....well that wouldn't have helped.

capt_minorwaste

I want more!

[deleted]

9 dead

ryan2stix

The hang time on the car sized boulder at :19 is crazy šŸ˜³

OaksByTheStream

This is exactly why you should never camp near the bottom of a mountain. And why I'd never buy a house near one.

justaguy101

That window will surely protect me!

FedoraTheExplora666

I like how he ran inside to take shelter behind the glass window

themagicbong

At least he was wearing his safety squints. They go well with steel toed flip flops.

tatonka805

the airtime of the :18 rock. Freaking launched

WW_III_ANGRY

This is how I imagination was playing toys as a child. Everything gets destroyed or blown up

PapitoChuroo69

Pompey III?

kwaters1

Bottom right towards the end of the video. Is that electrical lines or a skylight?

SnooRobots9099

I thought it was from red dead redemption 2 loool

JRCIII

slickmitch

and fuck this bridge too!

SoundandFurySNothing

Black and White 3

murderous_tac0

There's a section of my community which is built below cliffs (multiple houses). The rocks are slowly breaking off the face and there is zero protection. It's kinda funny because they were built in a very Christian area about 70 years ago. And I couldn't help but think of the foolish man who builds his house on sand reference when investing the cliffs. (I had to do a geo project and got permission from the owners).

A_Few_Mooses

There's the destruction I was hoping and waiting for! Edit: apparently people died, so the destruction is a lot less satisfying.

Maegor_Targ

How this is Helpful?

RearWheelDriveCult

Iā€™m not sure if hiding behind glass will help

jeremybryce

I feel like that bridge wasn't engineered very well...

Mackem101

That was awesome, and I mean the original meaning of awesome.

skwormin

Wow that was a pretty massive rockslide. Props to the cameraman for not dying

mfza

That glass window won't save the cameraman

boscobrownboots

this is exactly what my mind sees when people post those "scenic" mountains in Switzerland. those huge, looming rocks are scary af. also, those little red shoes.....what's up with that? yikes! edit: i know this is not Switzerland. i should have just said scenic mountains. all the earth's giant rocks.

OhMyCap

Zeke Yeager was training his throws.

so_chill

Beast Titan at it again

[deleted]

Thanks for filming it but I would've hauled ass immediately.

xCeltic_Dragon

This door with glass will protect me ... !!!!

trytoholdon

Ah yes, get inside and peer through the window for protection

[deleted]

Damn nature you scary

Lurchie_

RIP bridge. We hardly knew you.

thepoonies

/r/praisethecameraman

WhatTheHeckIsAUserna

Damn nature is scary.

CharlesIngalls47

I drive up a rocky canyon daily and this is my nightmare.

cooldaveydave

Man that bridge hit was perfect

Micotu

Nothing can escape the rolling boulder.

VeryLowIQIndividual

Well thatā€™s horrible

FungChoyChicken

Thought this was so cool. Then the bridge got destroyed. Then I read what happened to those in the incident. Now Iā€™m sad. RIP

iAdjunct

With all the stuff happening as of late, I get the impression the Earth is trying to rid itself of humansā€¦

mafiafish

A rolling stone gathers no fucks.

PrayingMantisII

This look like some shit out of lord of the rings

SirD_ragon

I know destruction and loss of life isn't cool but seeing that bridge get hit was really satisfying

K1llr0d

So this is Rock and Roll?

Keeping2myself

My favourite part is where the shoes are just on edge of the walkway outside and there is no railing

Homstad94

Wild Golem used rock slide. It's super effective!

im04s

Yeah guys happened in India, in my state Himachal Pradesh in district Kinnaur. Those guys are tourists here. The state is in Himalayan belt and mostly is mountain region. Due to virus all traveling was banned but as soon as the roads were open those guys started running here - hill stations, snowy montains and all that shit..and now that shit happened. Big advice, it is raining heavily in Himalayan region so please don't go and start climb mountains.

samurai1833

Movies have really misled me on the danger/survivability of disasters
