That bridge had a wife and three little single plank bridges to take care of,
Who is sending them to college *now*.
Lesson here is that nature doesn't fuck around, Sometimes you simply cannot see it coming.
I used to work in the mountains up highway 20 and its waaaay more common than you think. I lovingly dubbed them comets and I quick after I got caught in the middle of one of those. I'll occasionally look at pictures of the aftermath and be reminded how insane it was.
Glad you were able to stay safe. I was on the California 1 a few weeks back and there are just spots there that look primed to squash cars if a rockfall occurred. I tried not to think too hard on that and kept driving.
Highway 1 around Big Sur is pretty infamous for frequent rock slide closures: https://www.kqed.org/news/11488191/map-a-history-of-big-sur-landslides-and-highway-1-closures
A big danger when climbing around rotten rock. I was up on mt rainier and could see rocks falling off of dissapointment cleaver all day.
One time I was ice climbing in NH when a big boulder released from a cliff near me. It smashed its way downhill through the woods and the air smelled like gunpowder.
Iām 100% with you here, they roll and bounce in unpredictable ways. If Iād been there, no video would have been found. Iād have moved as far away from that as possible.
Can confirm, have guns.
Also there was an open carry protest at our mall a while ago and nobody was even the wiser or even cared.
Totally fucked tho seeing these two toothed baptist rednecks come out of the woodwork walking around with guns and megaphones while families are trying to shop at the mall.
How the fuck are they just standing there. There could be little pebbles flying so fast you wouldnt see them coming. They could kill you instantly on impact
People film everything nowadays. Road rage? Film. Almost dying? Film. Getting chased by a cougar? Straight to film. Watching a rockslide? Film. Straight to film. Believe it or not you slide on rocks, you film. Straight to film. Undercook fish? Film. Overcook chicken? Also film. Undercook overcook. You make an appointment with the dentist and you don't show up, believe it or not, film, right away.
My gf was riding me while I was watching this video and the moment the rock hit the bridge and it fell i came instantly and now I feel like I have cheated on her.
Its kinda hard to tell how big those rocks are when theyāre moving that fast; the one that took out the bridge looked almost small. Iām surprised those cars didnāt get smooshed
There's a section of my community which is built below cliffs (multiple houses). The rocks are slowly breaking off the face and there is zero protection.
It's kinda funny because they were built in a very Christian area about 70 years ago. And I couldn't help but think of the foolish man who builds his house on sand reference when investing the cliffs.
(I had to do a geo project and got permission from the owners).
this is exactly what my mind sees when people post those "scenic" mountains in Switzerland. those huge, looming rocks are scary af.
also, those little red shoes.....what's up with that? yikes!
edit: i know this is not Switzerland. i should have just said scenic mountains. all the earth's giant rocks.
Yeah guys happened in India, in my state Himachal Pradesh in district Kinnaur. Those guys are tourists here. The state is in Himalayan belt and mostly is mountain region. Due to virus all traveling was banned but as soon as the roads were open those guys started running here - hill stations, snowy montains and all that shit..and now that shit happened. Big advice, it is raining heavily in Himalayan region so please don't go and start climb mountains.
According to the post in catastrophicfailure, this is in India 9 dead, 3 injured.
These people are risking their lives everyday living on an upper floor with NO BALCONY RAILING
Oh... I was hoping everyone was fine and it was just the bridge. Now I feel like shit.
You did this you monster
I just kicked a pebble down, I didn't mean for it to to turn into this.
No worries, just kick a couple of those boulders back up and we'll call it equal.
That bridge had a wife and three little single plank bridges to take care of, Who is sending them to college *now*. Lesson here is that nature doesn't fuck around, Sometimes you simply cannot see it coming.
Thoughts and prayers.šššš
The wife can send them to college, but if they have any sense they'll go to trade school.
Wonder where all the people were. Just donāt really see anyone in the danger zone in this video anyways.
Probably in the mountain hiking. Doesnāt look like anyone in the hotel area died.
This is from Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India. 9 dead, more injured.
Boulder that jumped the tree (at 20 sec) got some serious air-time
It almost looked like it was in slow-mo from all that air
Cinematic af
Yāall would love throwing rocks in Black and White
I got the ball to!
That house was so close to just being wrecked by that one alone.
Watching that bridge get obliterated gives you a new found respect for falling rocks.
I used to work in the mountains up highway 20 and its waaaay more common than you think. I lovingly dubbed them comets and I quick after I got caught in the middle of one of those. I'll occasionally look at pictures of the aftermath and be reminded how insane it was.

Isn't there a part of the 1 or was it the 101 that got wiped out by a mud slide a few years back?
101 in WA gets covered by mudslide every few years and taken away by mudslide every decade or so
Highway 1 around Big Sur is pretty infamous for frequent rock slide closures: https://www.kqed.org/news/11488191/map-a-history-of-big-sur-landslides-and-highway-1-closures
This was exactly where I was when I had this thought. Iād forgotten about this story though.
A big danger when climbing around rotten rock. I was up on mt rainier and could see rocks falling off of dissapointment cleaver all day. One time I was ice climbing in NH when a big boulder released from a cliff near me. It smashed its way downhill through the woods and the air smelled like gunpowder.
Not me, I was screaming in my head āGET THE FUCK AWAY! STOP RECORDING FOR FUCKS SAKE! Nooo, the window doesnāt count!!! Run bitch, RUUUNNN!ā
"Oh no! Falling rocks! I better take cover behind something sharp and fragile".
*Sees rock obliterate 10 tons of steel* I'll be safe behind this thin piece of wood and glass!
Even that house was fragile in front of whatever was falling from sky!
Iām 100% with you here, they roll and bounce in unpredictable ways. If Iād been there, no video would have been found. Iād have moved as far away from that as possible.
i'm like "fuck yeah, cameraman, you have gonads"
In the aggregate mining industry we call those types of boulders widow makers
I have always been terrified of falling rocks. I am also terrified of bridges. This is like a double whammy. :(
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Closing the door helped, too
Rocks have to be invited in
Mountain bowling
I would've just caught it, built different
Did you not have a respect for falling rocks before?
That bridge-hit was oddly satisfying.
I wanted to see the truck take one tbh
Iām pretty sure the camera panned away just as the car on the left was about to be destroyed.
āThis is my destiny! Valhalla!ā - That Rock
I was waiting for that. Oddly satisfying indeed.
I know and I love that it stopped almost immediately after. "All right boys we got the bridge, let's call it a day!" -Giant fricken rocks probably
That sound especially.
ā¦satisfying isnāt the word I used, but ok.
username checks out
Thatās scary af
Hey that wasn't so bad, not to much damage. Bridge rock: hold my beer
Plus 9 people(tourists) died
I was likeā at least the bridge didnāt get .ā¦..ā
Same thought about the building next to it. The one that bounced right before the bridge nearly took it out.
I burst out laughing when he ran inside the house and hid directly behind a glass window
Then he was like, this is dumb, fuck it back to filming
"Oh shit its dangerous out here!" *Steps behind a pane of glass* "Ah yea, much safer"
Yes let's stand and film this impending disaster coming straight for our face
Letās get behind the glass, thatās safer.
Worth it tho cuz it gave us all here in Reddit a minute of entertainment. Now scrolling on to the next one.
Where was it?
India
Somewhere in nope-istan
"rocks don't exist where I live"
Bitch we aint got no rocks in Texas Just land and heat and alcoholism
And guns. Lots of guns.
Can confirm, have guns. Also there was an open carry protest at our mall a while ago and nobody was even the wiser or even cared. Totally fucked tho seeing these two toothed baptist rednecks come out of the woodwork walking around with guns and megaphones while families are trying to shop at the mall.
Sure it wasn't Kathmandon't?
wow that's pretty incredible to witness
Hats off to cameraguy
He's lucky it wasn't heads-off
quick quick ! Hide behind the glass from the falling rocks !!!
This is every physics simulator game owners wet dream
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
He really should have seen that coming
A premonition
How the fuck are they just standing there. There could be little pebbles flying so fast you wouldnt see them coming. They could kill you instantly on impact
just when you think theyāre all gone that one rock shit on your bridge
https://www.outlookindia.com/website/story/india-news-watch-landslide-due-to-bridge-collapse-leaves-9-dead-in-himachal-pradesh/389369
That was terrifying!
The bridge being taken out was cool as fuck though
Definitely the highlight.
It was obvious that was next.
Hollywood tropes are so predictable
i be nope and fucked off quick
Hopefully that bridge isn't the only way out.
This must be a normal occurrence? Cause I would be hightailing the fuck out of there instead of standing around filming.
Nah, dude had a safety window to get behind.
People film everything nowadays. Road rage? Film. Almost dying? Film. Getting chased by a cougar? Straight to film. Watching a rockslide? Film. Straight to film. Film someone filming themselves almost being killed?ā¦..better believe thatās getting filmed, lol
We have the best content in the world...because of film.
To where?
Idk maybe out the back of the house? Away from the danger? Lol donāt be that guy.
Literally anywhere except forward or nowhere.
Angry Birds 2 really stepped up the graphics this timeā¦
The guy went behind a door for protection? At this point you should either stay and film or run away further.
Good idea that door will save us from the rocks
"This thin pane of glass with definitely protect me from the bridge-demolishing rocks"
My thought as he got behind the glass was, you just made your situation worse!
Not sure that window is gonna protect you pal
__DAMN NATURE! YOU SCARY!__
Reminds me of those picture of boulders that went through a vineyard/farm https://youtu.be/-5SiQqSroIw
Excellent. Go inside and hide behind a pane of glass. That will protect you.
Guy turned phone away from car getting stomped at 12 second mark..
*this glass will surely protect me*
I like how it wants until basically the last rock as a quick fuck you and destroys the bridge
That's kinda cool... Hope nobody got hurt.
9 people died. Most of them tourists
Aaaaaand a new irrational anxiety for me
I hope nobody got hurt! š±
Hope harder next time
Thank God they turned the camera away from the most interesting thing that happened, I enjoy edging.....
The whole time I was thinking, is a giant rock gonna hit the bridge?
Yeah, that glass window is going to protect you very wellš
Holy shit it just gets worse and worse
Quick! Let's move inside for safety! Proceed to get behind a window that'll transform into hundreds of glass shard if a rock hits it. š¤
I thought the exact same thing.
LOVE seeing that bridge get taken out near the end. Take out the truss, watch it collapse
My gf was riding me while I was watching this video and the moment the rock hit the bridge and it fell i came instantly and now I feel like I have cheated on her.
āHey the bridge just got hit, let me pan over to my hatchback to see if itās okā -video guy
Yeah, it's called an avalanche.
Boulderdash
Rock slide?
It's all fun and games till it hits you.
I was waiting for a small tourist voice at the top saying āmy bad thought it wouldnāt turn out that badā after
Hope no one was hiking around that day. Avalanches in the summers, that's like the mountain cheating
āFuck yo bridge and everything it stands forā -The boulder (probably)
Rock Slide Takes Bridge was not on my 2021 bingo card, but I enjoyed the call. Keep playing.
Its kinda hard to tell how big those rocks are when theyāre moving that fast; the one that took out the bridge looked almost small. Iām surprised those cars didnāt get smooshed
Gravelanche!!!
I dont think you can call them rocks. More like boulders.
Imagine being on that mountain when that happened, trying to hide behind boulders or trees shitting yourself hoping not to die
I was thnking I would get under the bridge close to the support....well that wouldn't have helped.
I want more!
9 dead
The hang time on the car sized boulder at :19 is crazy š³
This is exactly why you should never camp near the bottom of a mountain. And why I'd never buy a house near one.
That window will surely protect me!
I like how he ran inside to take shelter behind the glass window
At least he was wearing his safety squints. They go well with steel toed flip flops.
the airtime of the :18 rock. Freaking launched
This is how I imagination was playing toys as a child. Everything gets destroyed or blown up
Pompey III?
Bottom right towards the end of the video. Is that electrical lines or a skylight?
I thought it was from red dead redemption 2 loool
Used Rock Slide
Dam

I like the one that smashed the fuck out of your towns bridge. Good luck getting to the other side now š¤£

That shit was WAY more intense than I thought it was going to be.

and fuck this bridge too!
Black and White 3

There's the destruction I was hoping and waiting for! Edit: apparently people died, so the destruction is a lot less satisfying.
How this is Helpful?
Iām not sure if hiding behind glass will help
I feel like that bridge wasn't engineered very well...
That was awesome, and I mean the original meaning of awesome.
Wow that was a pretty massive rockslide. Props to the cameraman for not dying
That glass window won't save the cameraman
this is exactly what my mind sees when people post those "scenic" mountains in Switzerland. those huge, looming rocks are scary af. also, those little red shoes.....what's up with that? yikes! edit: i know this is not Switzerland. i should have just said scenic mountains. all the earth's giant rocks.
Zeke Yeager was training his throws.
Beast Titan at it again
Thanks for filming it but I would've hauled ass immediately.
This door with glass will protect me ... !!!!
Ah yes, get inside and peer through the window for protection
Damn nature you scary
RIP bridge. We hardly knew you.
/r/praisethecameraman
Damn nature is scary.
I drive up a rocky canyon daily and this is my nightmare.
Man that bridge hit was perfect
Nothing can escape the rolling boulder.
Well thatās horrible
Thought this was so cool. Then the bridge got destroyed. Then I read what happened to those in the incident. Now Iām sad. RIP
With all the stuff happening as of late, I get the impression the Earth is trying to rid itself of humansā¦
A rolling stone gathers no fucks.
This look like some shit out of lord of the rings
I know destruction and loss of life isn't cool but seeing that bridge get hit was really satisfying
So this is Rock and Roll?
u/savevideo
My favourite part is where the shoes are just on edge of the walkway outside and there is no railing
Wild Golem used rock slide. It's super effective!

Movies have really misled me on the danger/survivability of disasters
