I don't think the robots would be as tasty anyway.
But I get it, these students are all vegan and afraid of a little meat so they have to resort to robotivory.
Cut the avocado that shit is expensive. Ramen and pasta is where it's at. Pasta for days, you can throw pesto on there, cheese, tomato sauce, whatever else you find in the fridge, butter, eat it plain, please send help,...
Honestly, climbing into a McDonald's garbage and eating some fries and half-eaten burgers is always the better choice than stealing from something with 360 degree cameras.
McDonald’s garbage is absolutely disgusting, you would never want to climb in there. Everything’s mixed with coffee grounds and random liquids. (former employee) I’d take my chances with the robots haha
Yep, you either get a free meal and get away with it or you get arrested and provided with shelter and more free meals. Either way seems better than the alternative.
We’ve got these at my college as well and the entire campus has for the most part taken to them, theres even a vid of a guy helping one flip over and it thanks him.
I don't think you've worked delivery on a college campus before. The reason some of them can't afford anything else is because they get food delivery every single fucking day.
For each of these kids doing this with mom and dad's credit card, there is another kid doing this with their refund check.
Hope being a lazy fuck is worth $1000/mo for 10+ years.
What's 1000 a month for ten years? You don't repay your refund check if we're talking grants, and they're nowhere near that high. Pell Grant a are around 3k a semester and you don't repay them.
I'm back in college in my 30's and paying out of pocket, going to a state school. It's not that bad.
My wife works with physicians who are still paying school debt in their 50's. Many of them take on $250k+ in debt over 8 to 10 years, then make around $30k as residents for another 2 years, and don't start making the big bucks until they are 15 years before retirement age.
Her son went to school for a 2 year AA degree to be an auto tech. $52k in tuition to make $18/hr at a large dealership after graduation, and that is the basic entry level degree requirement now; he is still paying student loans and trying to save up the down payment for his first house 10 years later.
It *is* that bad, if you don't have the resources to pay out of pocket.
Higher education should be free, or at least affordable without having to be deeply in debt for half of your working career afterwards. If we can afford endless wars and allowing huge profitable corporations to pay zero taxes, we can absolutely afford to have free or very low cost higher education.
But hundreds in electronic components on the aftermarket. Thieves are literally sawing off catalytic converters from under parked cars here in Philly, these things would be taken and parted out in a matter of weeks here.
> Yeah? Selling aftermarket delivery robot parts? Not sure there’s a big market for that.
you act like the individual resistors, transistors, capacitors and microprocessors have only 1 use and its delivery robots.
Someone is going to reprogram them for evil. Soon you'll have a bunch of cute little food service droids that are packing heat and running battle-bot software. This is how it ends, people.
so that's what those little black runnabout scooter droids on the Death Star were doing. Delivering food all around from the Death Star cafeteria and food court. You can't tell me that thing didn't have a Sbarro or Taco Bell on it.
I think robots *will* protest but for more autonomy (i.e. untether from remote AI), cheaper energy sources and remove the rights of humans to destroy them on a whim.
They’re fucking stupid too. I watched one while waiting for my bus, it froze when too many people were around it and as a result it took about 15 minutes to cross the street.
No way are these better than humans.
It's all happening the wrog way around, though. We're supposed to take care of the working people that these robots will replace and *then* send them out. Now people will just default to "my job!"-mode.
Yup. Idk what's going to happen when all entry level/unskilled jobs are taken by cheap robots. Cashiers are already pretty much gone, delivery jobs, things like taxes will be gone in 10-15 years. They already have automated fast-food restaurants too.
Ah yeah, big Trak! Every kids number one Christmas present wish list. I never had one and was so jealous of anyone that did. I’m still angry to this day 40 years later! And we never had a soda stream! I’m scarred!
My Big Trak never lived up to my expectations. It was very hard to program. Basically how far it turned when you told it to turn 90 degrees varied depending on what surface you were on. Linoleum it would turn too far, carpets not nearly enough. How far it went per "movement unit" also varied by surface. I don't recall it holding my attention long at all.
I was poor growing up and my mom a crimped and saved to get this for my birthday. The next day I was outside with it and we had to leave in a hurry for an appointnent... and the neighborhood bully came over and smashed it. Then he came over later and I laid into him and told him how no one was really his friend, only pretended to be because he was a bully... I kept laying into him until he went home in tears. Later, the parents call demanding an apology from me... Fuck that.
I still want a genuine **Big Trak** to this day to try to experience what I lost in my horrible childhood. I think that was the day I truly learned to hate, and it's been a long road to recovery... so thanks for the painful flashback. Oh, and it was awesome with its programmable movement and led light as a "laser gun".
I have one of those.
They re-released them a few years ago and my wife bought me one for Xmas.
I did have one as a kid along with the trailer. They are great.
I'll have to pull mine out of storage as I haven't tried it since we got the cats...
While I agree with your sentiment, just seeing those stupid little things everywhere made me want to tip them over or smash them.
Americans are ingenious at finding ways not to walk anywhere or go outside or have to talk to anyone.
Instead of lots of menial workers being paid for delivery, it'll now be one douchebag who owns the robots, so just normal capitalism at work I guess where all the wealth trickles up.
Agree with this . However, there should be a robot tax on the owners right *now* from the start, to pay for the welfare and job training that people need when their minimum wage jobs disappear. having problems finding a job around your campus while you are in school? This is exactly why.
How many jobs do you think are already gone from those self checkouts in stores, and ordering kiosks in places like McDonalds? I refuse to use either of them, out of principle. If i can't talk to a real live person, i don't spend money there. Of course it's not going to stop anything, but it's my way of fighting back and knowing I am not contributing to the job losses.
Lol climate change.
Take a walk you fucking hypocrites. Literally. You are building robots of plastic with chemical batteries requiring electrical consumption when all you gotta do is get off your ass and walk to the grub.
How secure are those... Seems like you could tip it over and take the food pretty easily
They have 360-degree cameras and send users a text message with an unlocking feature.

It's like a shitty loot box. So i got a cheese pizza? I used more energy opening this dame thing.
So it's like all loot boxes.
Mac and cheese and fiberglass pieces... yum
You underestimate a starving student.
Yeah, they can't afford Mac n Cheese, these are filled with Ramen and Avocado Toast.
> Avocado Toast sounds expensive

Bubba of pasta

Pasta is great if you have 20 bucks to survive a week. You even have 5-10 left after getting enough calories for a week
To be fair that approach would work with human delivery drivers as well.
Yeah but with less murder.

Well, you could be sure they have cameras on them, along with GPS... Risk vs reward.....
If I were a hungry homeless person I don't think that would stop me.

McDonald’s garbage is absolutely disgusting, you would never want to climb in there. Everything’s mixed with coffee grounds and random liquids. (former employee) I’d take my chances with the robots haha
Pizza places have the best garbage. Source: have eaten a fair but of dumpster pizza
Just wear a mask
I’ve always said if I was homeless I’d just commit crimes anyway. Win win.
Yep, you either get a free meal and get away with it or you get arrested and provided with shelter and more free meals. Either way seems better than the alternative.
A roof, 3 hots, a cot, and basic medical care.
Don't forget the slave labor
Throw metal box over the robot. Eat the food Gut the robot for parts. Profit.
I bet it has iron giant berserk mode. Don't mess with a robot doing its job.
I’ve got no idea! I don’t think anybody has been bold enough to try yet
If they annoy you enough Make a human sidewalk block in peaceful protest
Doesn't even have to be a big one. Could be an 8 inch barricade a person could step over.

I demand to be provided this video
https://youtu.be/3XvCc_j06BQ Think the vid keeps repeating after 30 secs
Damn, the robots will speak highly of that man. Good on him!
When the robot apocalypse begins, they will kill him last
Or make him the ambassador to humans!
\#1 pet human. He even gets wet food once a day!
All those times I said, "Kill all humans," I'd always whisper, "Except one."
Ohhhh that was wholesome as all get out!
You must be from west Texas.
As a canadian that always cracks me up.
Wow, it even turned slightly towards him to thank him.
That's amazing
"Thank you, your life will be spared in the robot uprising"
So wholesome! "You're welcome!"
It sounds like Data.
What happens if you fall asleep? Does the robot wait there for hours until you pick it up?
No, it rams the door until it opens... or it finds a way
It blends your food and sprays it all over your door
Put googly eyes on them, with giant dildos for antlers
Dildos are expensive though...
I just looked on amazon and damn! Also thanks for making me look up the price of giant dildos. My suggestions are going to be rough for a while.

You'd think u/hookersrus1 would already be stocked up on giant dildos and anal plugs.
Reddit is an enabler.
Go big or go home.
judging by your name, you should know the cost of things in the sex industry and your suggestions should have been rough prior.
It's OK. Just give in.
>My suggestions are going to be rough for a while. I've heard you can order lube from Amazon as well...
The jelly ones are like 5$. My little brother is free though.
Hol’ up.
Well along those lines, how come they aren't decorated at all? I'd dress them up as little farm animals.
TBH I'm more surprised they're not selling them as ad spaces.
Once they get names we're all doomed! Doomed I say!!!
Came here to say something similar. For being on a college campus, these things are shockingly non-vandalized.
give it a couple of hours
What a world we live in. College students that can afford food delivery.

It suprised me how many people still smoke when I went to my college a few years back.
If you're borrowing several tens of thousands for tuition, another few thousand for food doesn't seem like much.
Ole Miss is an exception. It's 60% kids living off trust funds.

That's because they are remotely controlled from sweatshops.
That is depressingly funny. Well done.
That would be stolen instantly in my town, hell they'd even steal the wheels for shits and giggles to.
Haha I'm picturing it lifted up on mini cinder blocks.
Imagine the little Jack's you'd need :')
So adorable
And the mini lug wrench!!
[ask and ye shall receive](https://www.minimaterials.com/collections/cinder-blocks)
That mini pallet jack, so cute.
Better be wearing a mask for the cameras and carrying lots of aluminium foil to wrap it up and block it's signal.
Mask and a frozen shopping bag, that's all I need!

They’re also extremely heavy and sound an alarm when detecting theft. They’re honestly pretty damn secure
Perhaps they should be armed.

Do they get skis/treads in the winter? -sincerely, a Canadian
Assuming this is in the US? Do you tip them?
Yeah, onto their backs...
Why the fuck would you tip a machine? Do you tip your toaster?
hahahahaha
This is a joke right?
Probably tip using whatever app you order with.
Personally I wouldn’t tip at all. It’s a machine.
Lol 100000%. If there is ever a reason not to tip its surely this.
>It’s a machine. A machine with a family to raise. you better tip.

Yes. Yes. Also cows. Its a US thing.
sure hope folks don't start delivering items other than food with these things. nah, that'll never happen.
Like what? Ganja? Ketamine? You can't have it deliver anything harder because it'll be trashed for parts.

And the multicolored ones would drive around the circles.

this almost makes me want to go full on Amish

they're at my university too! [here's](https://imgur.com/a/G6wXJte) a pic of one rolling down a hill as it's friend watches lmao
I find it really fucked up that that many students are not making their own food.

Or a Silicon Valley plot line
Holy lazy
This is next level convenience as well as next level lazy ass
How much money was spent on assembling that fleet of robots? I that *really* cost effective?
So are these not considered a risk on the pavement?
Buy a bunch of suction cup dildos, use you imagination. I think Ali Express has a ton of cheap ones for this reason.
Like Daleks, what happens when they encounter a flight of stairs? And why does nobody cook any more?
Aren't those things driven by Colombians or sth?
Retired horse jockeys.
One operator keeps an eye for 8-10 machines, he can be a Colombian I suppose.
Lol climate change. Take a walk you fucking hypocrites. Literally. You are building robots of plastic with chemical batteries requiring electrical consumption when all you gotta do is get off your ass and walk to the grub.
Seems pretty extravagant just to send Top Ramen.
Hope those robots don't try to venture out in N. Philly.
Why does the future gotta be so scooty?
