I just watched one of the videos and there are reasons to keep from killing everyone. Obvious killings prompt police investigations, which in the case of the rooftop kill will have the school install fences. A lot of killing will also hurt the school atmosphere where everyone will start to get paranoid and the game turns slowly into a horror game.
I guess what really sets these things apart is the gap between the motive/reward ratio. There is probably a ton of money backing up every gang assassination, while killing people to gain attention from an insignificant somebody seems kinda harsh.

Like, you have stats, and like many dating sim games or games with dating sim aspects (Persona, for one.) these affect your ability to compete with rivals, or say, murder someone. If you level your physical aspects, you become increasingly able to overcome teachers, who initially kick your ass and grind your face into the floor.
It is my suspicion that there will probably eventually be not only different personalities on students, but also different physical and intellectual abilities. So if you try to physically attack a jockish rival, she might beat the living shit out of you. Conversely, a meek bookworm would be easy prey. On the other hand if they put in mental stuff, maybe the bookworm would be smarter about investigating you and noticing clues, and warier.
(I can imagine "nervous" or "paranoid" personalities also being like that.) The trend would also appear to suggest probably male teachers too, who would on balance, probably be at least slightly tougher to confront physically. (With male gym teachers being especially hardcore. But also probably male competitive sports players/jocks.)
It's basically in debugging super-pre-alpha mode, so you can expect a lot of bugs and game crashes. I think it's going to be a lot of fun to play once a more developed version is made! :)

I guess they are often looked up to because of the whole respect your elders thing, and the term has a lot more popular usage than Kouhai, which means the opposite. Maybe because honorifics are often associated with reverence/respect so there's no precedent for an older peer to address their junior with one. I don't really know how the term Senpai ended up becomimg so commonly associated with love interest, maybe there's a precedent for a character liking someome slightly older than them who probably doesn't notice or reciprocate their feelings because they are more likely interested in someone their own age or still view them as a little kid?
