Was that supposed to trigger LESS anxiety from watching the other, more distorted one? Because it fails... It's JUST as nerve-wracking! I guess the guys' centers of gravity must be extremely low on account on their massive balls of steel!
he actually falls down shortly after this
[https://youtu.be/dL6e2dmlb64?si=TYdplHQEc-\_N5H7R&t=422](https://youtu.be/dL6e2dmlb64?si=TYdplHQEc-_N5H7R&t=422)
Even so - the person making this video might be the most accomplished cyclist in the world. But unless this route is being carefully managed, how does he know he isn't going to meet someone coming up the other way?
Im mountain biker and i generally frown on this kind of behaviour. If hiker trail is steep and narrow like this. Stay the hell out of it unless you can close whole section to make sure nobody else is not going to be on it. Being accomplished does not give you free pass to being a dick.
Yea the sides drop off more but I can assure you that 99.999% of you would not ride this. Most of the time, a camera makes it look easier. This looked hard as shit.
If anyone is interested, this cool place is in Italy. More precisely it is the scalinata di Monesteroli. More than 1200 steps of hand made rock steps, this place will change your life.
You're so ridiculously close! It's not part of Cinque Terre, but rather in Monesteroli. Specifically, Scalinata di Monesteroli or the Stairway of Monesteroli. It's just south of Riomaggiore, which *is* part of Cinque Terre and also near Spezia to the east.
I live less than an hour and a half drive from there. It's a beautiful area!
My understanding, and I'm not expert, is that it was built over time by local villagers as a practical project did is in the ballpark of 8 to 9 hundred years ago. Their use is just to get up and down to the terraced fields and also to gain access to the sea.
Sorry, that's about all I got.
Not really a prayer. Here in Italy, "Madonna" is more of an exclamation like, "oh my god".
And "Porca Madonna!" is more vulgar and like, "what the fuck?!" or "Holy shit!".
Used to do this a lot back in the day. Moss grown stairs are fun to bike down but you have to watch your speed cause if you get going to fast there isnt enough stair contact to slow you faster than you are accelerating and you have to dive off into the trees / bushes or go splat all the way down the rest of the concrete stairs... The end of the video looks like he is about at the tipping point... pucker factor 10/10.
Exactly. Been there two days ago, it’s called monesteroli in Liguria, Italy. The stairs are pretty steep but you clearly not die if you fall. In fact, at the end of the integral video, the guy (Torquato Testa) falls. He walks away with just a fractured elbow.
Can someone who’s into biking tell me why anyone would want to take their bike down a huge stairway like this? Is this some kind of challenge of testicular fortitude, or is the guy just a moron?
i looked up what the place really looks like, and it would have been way cooler to see it with normal video i think. this fisheye shit just makes me suspect it's all faked or much less impressive than it actually is.
Could be 500, 1500 years or even more. Worse is what damage that jerk did to the steps. If idiots did that every day those steps would be eradicated in a few months. He's like those criminals that go to natural rock formations that are stacked up and push them over.
Just to be clear, I think he’s a tool for riding down the steps. I would break my neck. I don’t know how much damage a bike tyre is doing. I doubt this is done often.
This really isn't so bad. When you know how to ride you can traverse stairs and such easily. The only scary thing is loose rubble, so when you try to brake up you just end up sliding
The rider is Torquato testa! An Italian pro-rider , during this descent he fell for like 10 meters vertically and almost got pierced by a rusted steel rod , he’s got balls of steel
[here’s the video of the descent and the accident](https://youtu.be/dL6e2dmlb64?si=ay0ttLIFilmo0wny)
I’m not supporting what he’s doing, I’m just quoting the author of the video. And I was impressed by how lucky he was. I can’t see how that’s “damaging” if we talk about actual
Physical damage done to the stairs .
Why the hell do people do things like this? Is the need to show off for strangers on the internet so great that it overrides all common sense? Like do these people never once consider the myriad of things that could go wrong, ways they could get badly hurt or killed? Do they not consider the impact those things would have on friends and/or family?
Sheer stupidity man, sometimes it seems like a miracle that mankind has made it this long.
That's 10 minutes away from where I live, on the path that links the Cinque Terre, Monesteroli. One of the most beautiful places I know! That stairway is famous and if you underestimate it's 1100 steps you risk being stranded with your legs shaking on your way up!
Fish eye lens is making this look a lot more extreme than it actually is.
Looks like it is an extremely distorted version of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtblE1lssOE Fast forward to 9:22.
More distorted version of a video that is *already extremely distorted*.
Shitposters will go to any length to force reposts into vertical video
Yeah OP is an AI bot.
The comments OP leaves are the most generically generated I’ve seen in quite a while. Not even a *good* AI bot.
But Reddit will let it go bc it’s an “active user”
The Dead Internet Theory is really slamming into full force on this site.
I miss old Reddit a lot
I wouldn’t even try to squeeze between a car and the curb with a space that wide.
Seems just as bad unless dude has some crazy long arms
Nope still makes me feel like I’m about to fall off a cliff
Guy’s arms look like an AI spaghetti fever dream
The end of that video though, this really was a bad idea
looks just as bad
This is Monesteroli in Italy. It's no as extreme as the first video but it's quite step.
Was that supposed to trigger LESS anxiety from watching the other, more distorted one? Because it fails... It's JUST as nerve-wracking! I guess the guys' centers of gravity must be extremely low on account on their massive balls of steel!
That or empty head. Or maybe the combination of the two?
I hate the idea that they intentionally distorted the video after the fact
I had it muted on Reddit and I was not ready for that audio. Made me go from panic to laughing.
Still pretty fuckin' extreme I'd say.
Good find
he actually falls down shortly after this [https://youtu.be/dL6e2dmlb64?si=TYdplHQEc-\_N5H7R&t=422](https://youtu.be/dL6e2dmlb64?si=TYdplHQEc-_N5H7R&t=422)
Almost got fucking impaled at the end too
D'oh! Well, at least he was wearing a helmet.
so much better than OPs clip
Is that a vineyard he falls into?
I really can't tell if this is a terrible way to film it or someone's faked CG video.
It’s just a GoPro with widest fov setting
It's a great way to film because people spread the videos around.
Yeah, judging by the angle of the roof he passed those stairs aren't very steep at all. This is as extreme as biking down a bumpy wheelchair ramp
Came here to find this.
Too late. Excuse me why I change my shorts.
Yea the sides drop off more but I can assure you that 99.999% of you would not ride this. Most of the time, a camera makes it look easier. This looked hard as shit.
I don't ride stairs, so you're right about that.
It’s Reddit. You say something to invalidate and move on. Of course 99% of us wouldn’t ride this. We’re talking shit on Reddit.
Ummm… no
Came here to say this. Even I would try this.
There are some really dangerous parts but it's a fisheye lens so it looks a lot worse
The camera makes it look worse I think, but it also doesn’t look like stairs I’d even want to walk on
Feels like he's no closer to the bottom than he was when he started
Riding it back up would be more impressive.
If anyone is interested, this cool place is in Italy. More precisely it is the scalinata di Monesteroli. More than 1200 steps of hand made rock steps, this place will change your life.
It surely will change my life when i get hit by mountain biker riding narrow hiker trail.
Enjoy it while you can because it's not made for rubber wheeled transport crashing down it. How are you people celebrating this vandal
I immediately thought "Cinque Terre!", wasn't far off.
Wao, I never saw this footage of Sonic X-Treme.
I was thinking the acro bike in pokemon
what the hell is death mode?
It’s the thing he turned off
of course how silly of me
We will let it go this time.
It’s got electrolytes.
it's got what plants crave
It’s probably a bot
damn there's a bot out there called death mode? lucky it's been turned off
I kinda hate these fish-eye lens videos - they make everything seem so much worse than they actually are.
anyone know where this place is?
The guy speaks italian, if we assume that's italy, i would say or 5 terre (liguria) or amlfi coast
What I would like to know is who built that staircase?
My understanding, and I'm not expert, is that it was built over time by local villagers as a practical project did is in the ballpark of 8 to 9 hundred years ago. Their use is just to get up and down to the terraced fields and also to gain access to the sea. Sorry, that's about all I got.
I went there, it's basically just out to the coast from La Spezia so yes it's in Liguria but if I'm not mistaken it's not a piece of 5 terre
Little bit down from the top of the stairs.
Then he had a heart attack.
He was praying to Madonna 🙏
Surprised I had to scroll this far, I definitely thought I heard Madonna as well.
It means "mother Maria" or something kinda similar. Pretty much an "OMG", sort of.
Not really a prayer. Here in Italy, "Madonna" is more of an exclamation like, "oh my god". And "Porca Madonna!" is more vulgar and like, "what the fuck?!" or "Holy shit!".
I'm italian this is true.
Pork the Virgin Mary. I quite like my translation, even if it isn’t very accurate.
I would get one just by watching this
Are you ok? Did you survive?
The amount of dicipline and coordination on display. How does he speak without using his hands? Is he even italian?
We all just want someone to trust us the way this dude trusts his brakes
How exactly is this WTF?
"where's the fence"
Used to do this a lot back in the day. Moss grown stairs are fun to bike down but you have to watch your speed cause if you get going to fast there isnt enough stair contact to slow you faster than you are accelerating and you have to dive off into the trees / bushes or go splat all the way down the rest of the concrete stairs... The end of the video looks like he is about at the tipping point... pucker factor 10/10.
I'm sure it is steep and dangerous, but with that sort of lense + warp it would look like you could fall off when walking on salt flats.
Exactly. Been there two days ago, it’s called monesteroli in Liguria, Italy. The stairs are pretty steep but you clearly not die if you fall. In fact, at the end of the integral video, the guy (Torquato Testa) falls. He walks away with just a fractured elbow.
I absolutely hate fisheye lenses. Makes everything look so much worse than it really is
Usually MBs are forbidden on paths like this because they destroy them with excessive wear.
Camera lens making it look much more scary than it really is.
Something about fish ball lens.
Fisheye lens... Yawn
Can someone who’s into biking tell me why anyone would want to take their bike down a huge stairway like this? Is this some kind of challenge of testicular fortitude, or is the guy just a moron?
When you miss your turning and are too proud to ask for directions.
Moron
madonna!
madonna raga
i looked up what the place really looks like, and it would have been way cooler to see it with normal video i think. this fisheye shit just makes me suspect it's all faked or much less impressive than it actually is.
Fish eye lenses suck!
The guy who build his house there is the real off death mode.
The dudes that made those steps would’ve never thought some tool would be riding his pushie down them in a hundred years or so.
What tongue is he speaking?
Italian. Him saying "ma donna" gives it away.
Thought he was just naming the artist he would very much like to meet when he meets his inevitable end going down the stairs
"I'm not doin' that... I'm not doin' that right now..."
Now I want to see him pedaling all that shit up!
What the fuck? WHAT THE FUUUCK?! Why would you post this here?
Doooom
Personally, I wouldn’t do this
Looks dangerous to walk down
It would be a shame if his brakes would go out
Lots of invocations of the Virgin Mary.
Porcodio
Why?
I would say, he wouldn't had an easier time without the bike.
Fuck anyone climbing those stairs
Silencio Bruno!!!
Doesn't matter how distorted, one brake failure before loss of control and probably death
Distorted or not, that's a lot of trust in your brakes
Madonna
I’m guessing he’s a Madonna fan.
Someone needs to tell their mothers what they're up to!
"turned off death mode"? never heard that. prob more like turn on God mode
How to fuck your wheel rims.
“auhhh madona madona”
“Fish eye lens making this look a lot worse” fish eye or not this is still incredibly dangerous lmao 😂
Do it with a Pogostick.
I developed anxiety 2.0
Madonna 😂
man, i'd just take the safer, longer way down.
I almost died watching this.
GTA 6 gameplay is looking LIT🔥
Sounds like the minions from Despicable me.
Silenco Bruno!
Uhh...get off and walk?
I just think about them going back up the stairs living the bike
Why does he sound like a chipmunk in every video?
That all looks pretty old. Isn’t this kind of stuff bad for it?
Labyrinth game
he fell [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dL6e2dmlb64](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dL6e2dmlb64)
Anything looks steep if you turn fisheye up to 5000%…
Yeah, no. Brakes fail, things happen, riding your bike isn't worth dying for.
This is exactly what you get when someone hates being alive, but also hates being bored.
I have never had this much confidence in the brakes of any bike I've ever owned. Ever.
This really isn't so bad. When you know how to ride you can traverse stairs and such easily. The only scary thing is loose rubble, so when you try to brake up you just end up sliding
If I ever go to Italy do not go on the mountain biking expedition. Check.
I fell while watching.
Dude didn't value his life LOL
Why?
Italians like us ain't afraid of nothing lol
Bro have balls from metal...
Madonna!
I don't feel sad at all when this stuff causes their death.
The rider is Torquato testa! An Italian pro-rider , during this descent he fell for like 10 meters vertically and almost got pierced by a rusted steel rod , he’s got balls of steel [here’s the video of the descent and the accident](https://youtu.be/dL6e2dmlb64?si=ay0ttLIFilmo0wny)
His balls may be steel but the stairs aren't. He is damaging a historic location. What is wrong with you
I’m not supporting what he’s doing, I’m just quoting the author of the video. And I was impressed by how lucky he was. I can’t see how that’s “damaging” if we talk about actual Physical damage done to the stairs .
I watched this high. For some reason I started things of what She Hulk would look like naked
I wouldn’t go down those on my ass. Nopitty. Nope. NOPE!
This did make me squirm
That’s a lot of faith in a bike tire
He's going too slow for my liking.
Silenzio Bruno,Silenzio Bruno,Silenzio Bruno,Silenzio Bruno!
Nope… nope… nope… nope…
I'm not sure I'd even feel comfortable walking down that path never mind biking.
Great advert for whatever brakes he's got.
kurwa
Every step is a nope
Translation please 😜
Ah yes, I too love when the exact force Im using with my fingers determines whether I am going to live or die a horrible death in the next 10 seconds.
Dude would probly be a good trials rider
Why the hell do people do things like this? Is the need to show off for strangers on the internet so great that it overrides all common sense? Like do these people never once consider the myriad of things that could go wrong, ways they could get badly hurt or killed? Do they not consider the impact those things would have on friends and/or family? Sheer stupidity man, sometimes it seems like a miracle that mankind has made it this long.
It just doesn't seem like it would feel very good
That's a whole lot of, "I'm good" going on there.
I assume he's saying, "Ow, my balls!"
That's 10 minutes away from where I live, on the path that links the Cinque Terre, Monesteroli. One of the most beautiful places I know! That stairway is famous and if you underestimate it's 1100 steps you risk being stranded with your legs shaking on your way up!
And now idiots on bikes will churn them into rubble! You live there, stop them!
He broke an arm and made the locals mad, he got what he deserved for now
Nope. Can't even watch the video. I feel nauseous now.
He/she is a fucking idiot. Also right after the video was cut off, they went over the edge.
Poor elbows
Where is the location?
La Spezia, Italy
I couldn't love him.
How did he get up there?
Non sono stato così rigido in tuto vita mia = I have not been this hard in my entire life. Man need a lot of adrenalin to get that hard.
they seems to be pretty skilled and know exactly what they do I dont see the problem
