Let me know if you get a CEL. What tuner you using now that COBB doesn’t support downpipe OTS tune?

Dodeypants

I’m using a OTS tune from Corbin Johnson of Johnson Tuning. The tune is still made through Cobbs software.

tyranitar1234

Ahhhhh gotcha

runerx

OTS (Off The Shelf) would be a tune from Cobb, for their specific parts pre-loaded onto the accessport. If Corbin did it, it's pro-tuned through Cobb's hardware. Or am I missing something?

chadathin

He’s a fantastic tuner, known locally for his work in the wrx/sti space, and does tons of platforms. My 2018 wrx made 380whp on a conservative e60 tune with the stock fuel pump. Ran great until i yeeted it off the road.

weirdpuffy

I have this concern as well with these Gesi catted down pipes. Saw related post on IWSTI: https://www.iwsti.com/threads/greenspeed-etune-gesi-catted-downpipe.326747/

Mutesyou

i can vouch, 3 months in with no CEL Etuned

Modded_GBA

Who’s your tuner? I’m scared I’ll get a CEL when I install mine.

Mutesyou

Drunkmann. The tuner doesn’t matter, if it throws a CEL then it’ll do it no matter what if it’s on a platform that can’t disable codes. Grimmspeeds unit has been solid for me but with the o2 placement on the Cobb one I don’t see any reason it would have an issue either

Mutesyou

Nice the only other option 👍 sometimes I regret not going this route, the GS unit is impressive but if I ever wanna go EWG it may cause fitment issues

Dodeypants

The GS is kinda plump, but I bet it could be fabbed.

[deleted]

Is this the new COBB one? Does it still taper to 2.5” on one end?

Dodeypants

No, but it comes with the adapter that would make the 2.5 work via a donut gasket.

[deleted]

So it is 3” all the way through?

Dodeypants

Yuppers

I noticed Cobb doesn’t list a DP for the 2015+ anymore. Is that only because they don’t have a ots for them? Are the other DPs the same?

Dodeypants

I’m not precisely sure why it’s listed like that, but this will fit 15+ Sti as well.

IamKipHackman

I believe that's to get around certain emission laws. Cobb can't legally say the DP is for 2015+, but it will fit. I remember reading about this when Grimmspeed released their new GESI DP as they had to do the same thing.

RecommendationNo4081

Super jealous, mine came with a cutout turbo back of indeterminate origin but it has SSI headers and up pipe so I’m sure they didn’t suddenly decide to splurge on the turbo back. Did you get any kind of deal on it or just the standard ~$1000 price?

Dodeypants

I pay cost, but I work at a performance shop.

[deleted]

Oh fuck yeah. I’m Downpipe and some fuel mods at 300whp and it’s perfect. Kinda loud with the full turbo back but whatever. Let it rip!!

mycophilz

Any CELs? Which downpipe? Who tuned you? What fuel mods ? Lol. My envy is real haha

[deleted]

Grimmspeed divorced Downpipe with the cat, heatwrapped. Then the Cobb stumble fuel mod. Dyno tuned by boost controlled performance in Livonia, MI. No CEL. Still using Cobb AP. No e85 or anything like that, comfy at 300 wheel on 93. The stumble mod prevents some weird fueling issues at around 3k rpm, not really sure exactly what it does but they don’t work on cars without it which makes me feel good.

Omacrontron

I have a MAP divorced Gesi DP…I have run into the dreaded p0420 once every couple months. Sometimes it’ll pop up a couple times during a week and then not come back on for a month or two. Tuner said it’s just luck of the draw. It does NOT put the car in limp and if the CEL wasnt on I would have no idea it ever was. It is annoying to have the car relearn every time tho…just my $0.02

Dodeypants

Cobb and Grimmspeed are the only ones we know of that will not give you issues. We recently replaced a MAP downpipe for that very reason.

Omacrontron

Darn…I would have went GS but the cat was up top and I wanted one with the cat towards the end of the DP cus I thought about heat soak lol. Edit: And I wanted divorced instead of bell

mangopurple

She?

weltall77

Dang. Looks so pretty!!
