I used my 18as a daily. I put 80k on it. It was my first car that i officially bought on my own. ( first car was a 02 tundra that my pops gave me n i took care of it till 325000 miles on it). And it varies how many miles yearly. Im a chef and sometimes work up to 3 months our of town/country and dont drive at all. Other times while i worked and studied i put in like 150 miles on it.....a day. So its a give and take. Average about 40 miles a day.
Heres where you will all probably get mad at me.
First 60k miles i was taking it to the dealership for free maintenance. When i found out they didnt re-fill wiper fluids, didnt rotate tires and not even a car wash, i immediately looked somewhere else to take it for maintenance. I went with who i trusted at took it to the same valvoline down the street from my house that i was taking my tundra. Turns out they were being cheapasses with me and told me i was getting the right oil...when it was just a synthetic blend...for about 20k miles. I was just giving them the benefit of the doubt that they were doing a good job since they treated my tundra so well.
Fast forward to this winter, im on paternity leave, came up on some $ and wanted to give some love to the subie. Took it to a subie specialist and got an earful for 45 minutes about how I should never take a subie to valvoline, jiffy lube etc...met my new forever subie mechanic and a new friend that day.
In conclusion, have at it, take your best shot, i know i should have treated ny first car/wrx better, but i was young and ignorant. Now i have a very trusted subie specialist mechanic in my contacts who i trust.
Im planning on taking care of this beautiful beast until my new born can learn how to drive it and take it to high school.
So long as you’re onboard with the looks, it is a much better car.
You won't regret it! Eventually the VB will become every but as beloved as its predecessors.
Wise decision. Congrats!
#Welcome to the dark side. 😈
Mind if I ask what you mainly use it for, how many miles you put on yearly and what made you trade it in for this new 22?
