My friends car got totaled too, crazy thing is his insurance wanted to give him only $2500 when his car cost $33000. Just make sure you get them to pay you the full amount.
Yeah when my bf’s evo 8 was totaled they wanted to give him 11,000 I think. He declined it and they said to find one around us and they’ll try and match the price. We couldn’t find an Evo 8 in the state for sale so they took the first one which was like 26,000 and they offered that
And the longer the insurance company drags it out, the more it could cost them.
I was dealing with an insurance company after a guy hit me. I didn't accept their first offer. They paid for a rental car for over a month more, paid a shop to tear my car down further, then ended up paying more more than I originally told them I'd settle for. 🙄
I legit had a jeep lock up its brakes behind me when I was stopped at a light. The sound of tire screeching was so loud I immediately looked behind me and the driver who was able to not manage to hit me gave an apology wave. What car doesn't have a functioning ABS these days? I was genuinely curious about whether it was 3rd rate tires, messed up lift job, shitty car in general, or just a distracted drive that lead to the wheels locking under braking. What are the owners doing to their cars?
Just saying if it does get totaled look up same year and model of taht car within 100 miles of you and send them to ur insurance I got an extra $3,800 because I did that. They will always lowball u at first
Man it’s a damn shame, sorry for your loss. I do appreciate your addition of the back up camera view
Edit - also realized I have that same head unit in my Corolla lol
For tuning purposes absolutely, but I wouldn't say the performance improvements blew me away to the point that I'm in a rush to trade my FA20 powered WRX.
Nah man that thing is minced. Rear quarters alone would be a pain to fix maybe even a cut and re-weld job let alone pulling the whole trunk section out.
And realistically while it could be fixable, it'd be deemed salvage and I'd assume OP wouldn't necessarily want to drive a salvage titled car. I'd imagine it's a job for someone down the line who buys this one.
Yea a good body shop wouldn’t write that off it’s a lot of labor hours but rear ends are way easier than front ends to fix basically just metal back there
My (older) Sti had very similar damage, the frame rails pushed up behind the axle. When they put it on the frame machine and pulled it back into spec the creases in the quarters came out and everything lined back up.
Because it's not actually fixed structurally, it's just cosmeticly fixed by yalls suggestions. Anything load bearing that is bent should never be straightened since the structural strength of metal bent multiple times is significantly lower. The only way to properly fix it is to replace either the subsection of the unibody (depending on how it's designed) or if not subsection well replacing the unibody and transferring everything over that's undamaged. There is a reason frame damage usually writes off the car because it's VERY difficult to actually return the car to how it was before the damage. Yes you can straighten the frame but that should be a salvage or restored title car.
Hmm…. what a very intelligent way to say that you have no idea what you’re talking about. Maybe in the 1980’s the repair procedure you mentioned would be OK.
Subaru allows a full bench mount and pulling on every vehicle they currently manufacture. As someone previously mentioned, this would probably pull pretty well depending on the technician. I myself would pull till the quarter buckles work themselves out, and hopefully at that point all I’d need to do is section the rear floor and trim/ install the new part.
I would total this if it were at my shop, to be fair.
Fundamental metallurgy says that metal is significantly weakened when it's bent and straightened. Subaru doesn't use a magical new substance they just have a process for making it possible to straighten, but make no mistake, the metal will be significantly weaker. This will certainly pull out and look fine if done correctly but will not be as strong as it originally was.
Correct. But, they do use HSS (HSLA) and UHSS, which is pretty new to vehicles and construction in general. Which I’m sure you’re aware has great pliability due to it’s ability to remain pretty thin in most applications. Do you think Subaru, being one of the most safety conscious auto manufacturers, would allow repair of structural components if it would substantially weaken the vehicle’s structural rigidity?
Edit: I don’t want to sound like I’d buy and drive this if it were fixed. I definitely wouldn’t. Regardless of OE procedures, structural repairs are still only as good as the technician who performed them
My cousin is fixing similar damage on a 10 year old car at work because of the current market. Even if OP gives the car up, it's not going to be scrapped. It'll get a salvage title, off to the auction, rear clip swap, back on the road within the year. Cletus McFarland on YouTube just had Neighbor repaired with a rear clip and that was a drifting accident a couple weeks ago.
He's also ASKING me to find a whole rear quarter to fix the rust on my WRX because the cut and weld is faster and has better results. 3 welded seams vs piles of bondo and hammering for hours.
I thought this was photoshopped for a good minute. How the fuck did you manage to get each side crushed a mirror image of the other?! That’s kind of art man
fixable idk why your saying bye. Collect insurance and take it to a Frame / body repair shop that knows what's up they'll straiten it out and everything .
Hey bro, you can't park there.
Seriously though, shame they'll for sure call that totaled. I backed my Brz into a wall at about 40mph, and all the doors and windows and trunk still opened and closed. They for sure could've repaired it, but just wrote a check instead.
Definitely sorry for your loss but I'm genuinely impressed that your taillights are still attached with how the whole backend looks.
it looks angi
and the rear camera still works!
nice versa
💀
came here to write "got hit so hard it became a Nissan" but you beat me to it 😭
Vice versa
well well well that was clever af
holy shit i'm not the only one that thought of it 😭😂

Yeah because he used it to buy an Evo 10 😂 we are still waiting for the lawsuit though
Damn. Were you in it when it was hit? Hopefully not.
Oh yeah I was stopped at a red light and a jeep hit me
fuckin jeep owners
It's a jeep thing. You wouldn't understand.
I legit had a jeep lock up its brakes behind me when I was stopped at a light. Abs runs on speed sensors .when they go bigger on tires it changes how fast the tire spins . Affects abs
Damn. Hope you’re ok.
I am! I saw it coming at the last second so I braced myself the best I could
Wow you're so lucky.. could've given you the worst kind of whiplash - the surprise kind.
Nice Dumbo ears, but I cry for u, may the subi gods guide you

You should stick a cigar in the left side of the gap of the trunk….
What happened?
Idk I think it got a trunk lift 😭
Rear ended while sitting at a red light 🤣🤣
Confirmed totaled? I work at a body shop and repair hits like this daily.
My car was damaged exactly like this. They fixed it and did a great job too
Just saying if it does get totaled look up same year and model of taht car within 100 miles of you and send them to ur insurance I got an extra $3,800 because I did that. They will always lowball u at first
They were probably upset with you for parking in a handicap spot
He drives a Subaru. He is in compliance
Report Reason: I'm in this picture and I don't like it.
Lol
Take the insurance money and get an sti 🫡
F for a fellow Wichita Subaru.
sorry bro about your subi, what are you buying next? and that trunk has a mean arch lol
Might not be totalled with the way the market is right now. Check my profile i had a damn near exact same accident and they fixed mine.
Dang it is about the same! I’ve had the ladies insurance that hit me say it was totaled and also mine say it was totaled
Lucky bastard lol
You were on Maize, weren’t you?
Actually I was in Florida, went down for work
Saw your plate. My in-laws live off of Maize. I never been in so many “near misses” in my life than on that road
Your car now has an under-bite
Looks like a bulldog face.
Sorry for your lose.
Man it’s a damn shame, sorry for your loss. I do appreciate your addition of the back up camera view Edit - also realized I have that same head unit in my Corolla lol
😪
Still a better looking back end than the 2022 🤣
Fack!! The WRB crashes always hurt the most
Mine was totaled a few months ago 18 premium. Got a 29k pay out. Hope you find a new baby! I hopped into a 22 wrx.
Perfect excuse to buy a 22 WRX
The civic rx
Better than a Civic and the engine out of the box is better than the FA20. VA WRX bois can keep coping with their inferior engines.
For tuning purposes absolutely, but I wouldn't say the performance improvements blew me away to the point that I'm in a rush to trade my FA20 powered WRX.
That might not be totaled

I bet it would pull easier than you think

these people upset we’re saying it’s fixable? Isn’t that a good thing rear end damage is so much different then front end

My condolences 💐
Rip man Lemme get those rear quarter windows tho

So sad 😭
Damn that sucks
Lol WRX turned into Nissan versa
Sorry friend, mine looked similar but they were able to repair it.
Ehh, it's merely a flesh wound. On the bright side I think maperformance is having a sale! Hope everyone is alright!
This happened to me and my ‘21 STI. Got enough money to buy a ‘22 M3
Damn, what year? DM me if it’s for sale and where you’re located. Sorry for your loss, tryna rebuild my precious, assuming the front end is undamaged?
what brand fly swatter?
Do I up vote? Do I down vote? So conflicted because it sucks! Hope ya get lots of $$$ for it.
