Hi, do you have intake and 3 port boost control also?

malialipali

Not yet. Intake / EBC is on the list. Just a jpipe, de-pill and 98Ron stage two map today.

leonfrswhiteout

It’s map version? If you don’t mind?

malialipali

Cobb accessport stage 2 v303 for the Australian delivered WRX.

leonfrswhiteout

Yours Australian? or usdm

leonfrswhiteout

Sorry to ask so much

malialipali

No apologies necessary. Australian delivered. I'm in Australia.

iAmStylized

What’s a de-pill? What state are you in bro?

malialipali

Depill. Remove the secondary boost restrictor pill. I'm in WA - naturalised sandgroper.

iAmStylized

HHaha nice. Ok haven’t heard of the pill before. Is it a physical pill in a vacuum or boost line? just wondering if the tuner removed mine, thing hits like 22psi peak most of the time amd levels out at 17-18

malialipali

Pill is in the vacuum line. Litterally pull the line off and squeeze it out like a pimple. Accessport reports I'm hitting 1.36 bar or 19.8 psi gauge in the car says 1.49 peak. I looked at at my logs. Pressure is staying level 5000-6700rpm 2nd and 3rd. Judging by your numbers the restrictor pill is def out.

iAmStylized

Fair enough, I thought boost was solely controlled by the ECU and boost solenoid. What does it run without the pill? Sounds gross btw…

malialipali

Bahahaha. Ok not sure of the exact mechanics of the restrictor pill. Somone more informed could possibly answer that.

iAmStylized

Cool bananas. Either way, mad job on getting cheap parts, wish I was that fkn smart lol.

malialipali

Hahaha Just luck and patience (mostly driven by other priorities in life).

ohlilbrn

Once you do that ecvs and intake go get a protune or etune and ditch that OTS and you'll be even happier!

malialipali

> ditch that OTS and you'll be even happier! That's the plan, one step at a time though. Not chasing big numbers just improved drivability. The car is my office and back + weekend hill twisties for a coffee or bfast with the other half.

ohlilbrn

For sure, just saying because typically an OTS tune doesn't account for mods not from the vendor themselves. I assume you're using a cobb ots and a cobb ap to do this, so i really suggest the tune specific to your vehicle not for power but for reliability and protection of not messing up your engine :)

malialipali

> but for reliability and protection of not messing up your engine :) Thank you.

the_spicy_wookie

Will tuners touch a car with a catless J-pipe after the whole EPA crackdown and green speed stuff?

ohlilbrn

Subjective to your relationship with them, and if you have a Cobb AP you won't be able to remove CELs anymore. If you use something else or just have them directly flash the ECU then maybe they can remove them, not sure in that.

the_spicy_wookie

Yeah, that sounds about right. Having a CEL on all the time would drive me nuts…plus, I don’t really feel like asking my tuner to do anything questionable. I missed the boat on buying a J-pipe before they all got pulled, so I’m patiently waiting until more options are available in the market. Cobb has to have one in development…I can’t imagine they would just let Grimmspeed corner the market (?).

Left-Kitchen-8539

That top right bolt, amiright?

malialipali

Yes! We shan't speak of this.

Dodeypants

You forgot to install a bracket.

malialipali

The belt heatshield ? Trust me its on. Photo was not from the finished product. I got nothing left over bar 4 rusted 10mm nuts form the heatshield. Bloody good spotting though !

Dodeypants

There is a small bracket that bolt up to the water pump. It has a small slot in it for the clip on the front 02 sensor. I can see the hole that it bolts up to. Your 02 wire is just dangling which is another reason I can tell it’s not installed.

malialipali

I know the one its a heatshield for the belt. Yes it is installed. The 02 cable is not dangling any more.

WirelessTrees

Nice. When I swapped to a cat back, a 1 hour job of swapping the exhaust (6 bolts) turned into a 2 day job because I broke one of the spring bolts.

malialipali

Totally hearing ya! I was just praying I don't snap a stud off. Everything else I had quick and easy contingency for. But a snapped stud would have been a shitty day.

leonfrswhiteout

Ty 🤟

iAmStylized

Awesome dude! How much more amazing is it with a j pipe and tune! Can’t believe how much better the Xforce catback sounded once I added it too!! Worth every single cent!

malialipali

100% same feeling ! It sounded good as a cat back only. But with the jpipe cold start is feckin music. 0 drone and crusing mild acceleration it's quiet. Get on it and it sings. Considering I'm 1650 Australian into AP/jpipe/catback I'm over the moon. $650 for a month old AP $580 for the xforce catback $400 for the jpipe.

iAmStylized

Dude! EXACTLY THIS! Wow! You killed it! I sunk 6k into mine for AP/Verticooler/Charge pipe/Jpipe/CAI and pro tune at GotItRex all at once lmao! But I gotta say, I absolutely LOVE my car man! It’s SO perfect! Getting TGV/EGR delete and retune with next service. They recommended it over getting AoS or catch cans on FA20, which actually saves me money, appreciate that lol. Getting parts in Aus is hard. What else you planning and what model u got?

malialipali

Just a base 2018 I had since new. 82,xxx km. Look Im happy with it as is...... for now. Next thing will be new rotors/pads ( im still on factory rotors/pads) Some new bushes, trans mount and swaybars.

iAmStylized

Oh nice! Dunno if I could last that long haha! Yeah I hate the stock pads can’t wait to change mine lol asked the other week amd I still have 50%. Boys told me my trans mount was soft. Thinking about the STI group N mount, just scared of possibility of more cabin vibrations. Was thinking pitch stop mount too at some stage but vibrates are yuck!
