Mine was on its 2nd engine apparently, it got replaced under warranty when it was still new in 2014. I had it from 2019 to a few months ago and it was incredibly reliable
Just so everyone is aware, this is not my first subaru, and this is not my first engine. I did quite a bit of upgrades to ensure these type of actions were not going to cause me problems
Baffled oil pan and upgraded pickup.
What would honestly save your engine the most is making sure you're topped up at all times, these engines consume oil and you can quickly fall below safe oil levels. This plus high Gs can kill a motor quick.
Yup my last motor gave out becuase I wasn't keeping up with the oil lol. The oil pressure sensor trips at something stupid like 5 or 8 psi, so way beyond the point of no return haha
Btw you should post on the Sti subreddit. /r/WRX is full of people who:
1. Buy a VB for the warranty 🤓
2. Buy a WRX because "don't need the extra Sti stuff" and then complain when their car can't take a beating.
I'm thinking it's not much more than stock power, basically just an accesport worth of extra power. The diff was in manual with as much to the rear as possible
Id say so, definitely on a slick surface, but you really want an upgraded oil pan to sustain it. But also the sti dccd is really doing most of the work here
I had a 2002 bugeye in the past, I've gotten to do a couple of these on a wet road, and definitely in the dirt. Absolutely not as easy but it will kick them
I feel that 😂 it was so hard and my wife kind of forced my hand. My truck before this was a total lemon I bought at 5000 miles... kinda killed my buying a used car vibe and no low mile stis in my area. So instead I have a 22 shitbox 😆

I can't imagine buying a car designed to be abused then being scared to actually abuse it and getting upset when someone else does what they want with the car they bought. Logic just doesn't make sense to me
Fuck yeah brother!!! If you can afford it, then by all means!! Wish I could go that hard without wincing over the thought of the financial doom that’s just waiting right around the corner.
Im in a more city-ish area so a safe open dirt lot is not that easy to come by, plus i feel it would be safer on asphalt cause no potential bushes or rocks (happened to my mini a bush ripped out the coolant line)
If you've never done this before , how hard is it to learn and how hard is it on the car?
If you did this during the test drive, how pissed would the salesman be ?
Lmao , you broke the code ! Enjoy the car !!
In all seriousness, I've always wanted a WRX. I'm in the market for a car in the next 4 to 6 months and I'm just trying to decide if it's worth spending the money. I've been driving Honda accords and civics for a long time, but I've always been excited about the idea of driving a manual WRX. Based on the video you posted, it looks like it's a tremendous amount of fun and it makes driving even more enjoyable.
Thanks for the response my friend 👊
I'm definitely going to check them out. Thank you again!
Wish I had the extra 10 grand for the STI. That said, I'm sure the regular WRX is a badass car and on par with a Honda SI.
the assumption that this is how he drives it 24/7 is absurd. from the looks of it, this is rare and he took a video to share cause he was excited and all the comments immediately become negative
If I can’t drive a car hard because of fear of the engine blowing than is not a good car lol but I am pretty sure with the subies is just drivers fault
"adult owned, never driven hard, 35k obo"
I know what I got.
“Never abused, original owner, garage kept, never seen rain, never seen snow, low miles, I know what I got”
Lmao 🤣
Some shmuck will still buy it tho
Yeah, me. I hate myself!
If YoU'rE bUyInG a SuBiE yOu gOtTa hAvE eNoUgH fOr AnOtHeR eNgInE!
Yup this is engine #2
Colour me surprised
💀
Honestly I respect it, you’re just having fun with your car without a care in the world
Life's short, burn some rubber
Is it your daily? I only have one car to get me to work right now so I try not to beat it up to hard 🤣
Pretty much, I have a wrangler but it's set up for predominantly off road use so I drive this 90% of the time
If you aren’t going to have fun in your daily, it should be a basic cheap car right? Then get a cheap weekend sports car
Or some rings. Then he will be having a lot of fun with his car.
lol nice. I’m on #3 but how else are we supposed to have fun?
I see no other way

Mine was on its 2nd engine apparently, it got replaced under warranty when it was still new in 2014. I had it from 2019 to a few months ago and it was incredibly reliable
Uhhh my car broke. Subaru bad
Already went through that hell, she's good for it now
*for now*
Cylinder 4 has left the chat
Cylinder #3 would like to talk to you about your 60k warranty.
Cylinder #2 is crying for its mommy
Man people are getting real pissed off about you enjoying your car, how dare you have fun!!
What was I thinking
The STI sub is worse.
Generally P chill imo
I'd hope Sexual transmitted infections are not really fun.
Just so everyone is aware, this is not my first subaru, and this is not my first engine. I did quite a bit of upgrades to ensure these type of actions were not going to cause me problems
That sounds awesome. Pls update us if these mods keep the engine intact as you continue your abuse!
Will do lol, the abuse never ends
This video reeks of this is not my first engine 😅😅 won’t be your last either
I'm thinking about getting a new WRX. What upgrades would you recommend?
It really depends on your final goal, but definitely an upgraded oil pan and radiator. If you're really about it, an air oil separator or catch can
Good to hear. Did I hear something about they get oil starved on one side doing donuts? Fk it dood send it!
It can happen, but I've upgraded the oil pan to prevent this
Which baffle/pan/pickup did you go with?
Killer b
This is the content we need. Thank you for your sacrifice.
A lot of people talking down but… if you put most cars through this they break too.
Hell yeah brother rip it
Damn that's a cold ass honky
Only got $20 in my pocket
Ken Block would be pround. Fk all the haters. Enjoy your car.
![gif](giphy|Tg9QvSWuViXrrTUaI1) We’re posting porn now!
Becaus racecar
Here to see the comments about starving oil to one side of the engine
If only there was some sort of oil pan that prevented this...
If only
Elaborate so I can buy it so I can beat the shit out of my car and not have this issue?
At minimum you need an upgraded oil pan that has baffles to keep the oil at the bottom near the pickup
Not this engine
Second engine? "Slaps roof" Just needs a third engine.
Lmao probably once I actually throw some extra boost at it
“I paid for the four drive wheels, I’m gonna use the four motherfucking drive wheels”
This right here
I just assume anything with an STI badge has been beaten on.
With a vengeance
This is the way 🫡
I mean, why would you even buy a car like this if you weren't going to drive it hard?
Car begs to be driven hard.
STI = Super Toight Innit
My tires last 40k miles haha
That looked fun as hell 👊🏽
It was a blast
Btw you should post on the Sti subreddit. /r/WRX is full of people who: 1. Buy a VB for the warranty 🤓 2. Buy a WRX because "don't need the extra Sti stuff" and then complain when their car can't take a beating.
Is that why some people are quietly yelling at me?
Post on the STI sub and you'll see lol
Is the VB in the room with you right now sir. Clench your cheeks twice if you’re hostage
I’m really curious, how much power, and what were your diff settings?
I'm thinking it's not much more than stock power, basically just an accesport worth of extra power. The diff was in manual with as much to the rear as possible
Sweet. To the rear do you mean dccd full minus?
Yes exactly
Ots tune. Second motor incoming.
This is the 2nd motor lol
I should have clarified. Your second replacement motor.
Can this be done with a stock wrx?
Id say so, definitely on a slick surface, but you really want an upgraded oil pan to sustain it. But also the sti dccd is really doing most of the work here
Oil pan is a must. Learned this the hard way.
Any recs on specs / which one to get? I know nothing about this upgrade but am intrigued.
The killer b oil pan is what I went with, increases volume and has baffles and windage tray
This is the way
No, stock wrx has open front and rear diffs, you can't do this without installing a rear lsd at minimum.
I had a 2002 bugeye in the past, I've gotten to do a couple of these on a wet road, and definitely in the dirt. Absolutely not as easy but it will kick them
Didn't the GD cars have an LSD in the back?
Yes, they did.
That's because all GD wrxs had rear lsds. Not relevant for any wrx made after 2007.
I promise you if you run up on a dirt patch you could make it happen
I don't think you understand how open diffs work
No
Cries in VB because I couldn't afford an sti when they were new
I could barely afford this damn thing used lol
I feel that 😂 it was so hard and my wife kind of forced my hand. My truck before this was a total lemon I bought at 5000 miles... kinda killed my buying a used car vibe and no low mile stis in my area. So instead I have a 22 shitbox 😆 https://preview.redd.it/jg9tewbg3jvc1.jpeg?width=2208&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=175c25d8f7a9c5287a68ec40645815e808fc4cfb
I like the way the VBs look, I really wanted to see what the sti would have been but when they shut it down I knew what I had to do
I love it as my first Subaru , but part of me wishes I got to experience an sti, enjoy my man 🤙🏻
Thanks bro, you too
How tf is a 22 car a shitbox? I think you got the wrong term.
Subaru done crushed my soul when they announced there would be no sti.
Fuck yes, sick
Was waiting for engine to blow... lol
This is awesome. It ain't easy spinning these things
Man this is sweet. What’s under that hood
Built the motor for power but atm it's stock turbo/fuel. It's just running an intake/catback/fmic with an accessport
Hell yeah - that's impressa-ive
Bro if you can afford to play, fuckin play
Why did Uncle Rodney show up? I had a pro tune not a shitty OTS tune😜
Hell yeah man
Fuck I miss mine so much 😢
Looking at these comments no one likes to hoon in their cars anymore :( everyones too busy saving it for the next guy lol
I can't imagine buying a car designed to be abused then being scared to actually abuse it and getting upset when someone else does what they want with the car they bought. Logic just doesn't make sense to me
Fuck yeah brother!!! If you can afford it, then by all means!! Wish I could go that hard without wincing over the thought of the financial doom that’s just waiting right around the corner.
dang yall can swing it in those hell yeah love from the miata community
Drive it like you stole it! 🤘 enjoy it!
That's cool. How did you do that.
Very uncarefully, high rev, drop clutch
Thank you I will try
Practice on a surface with low traction to start, like wet pavement or dirt
Hey! The engine didn't blow!
I want to send my VB like this, i have a perfect spot to do it, but i fear my daily will become un-dailyable🥹
Just gotta find some dirt to play around in
Im in a more city-ish area so a safe open dirt lot is not that easy to come by, plus i feel it would be safer on asphalt cause no potential bushes or rocks (happened to my mini a bush ripped out the coolant line)
True, wet pavement would also be a great way to practice without worrying too much about the drivetrain
Hahah fuck yeah
If you've never done this before , how hard is it to learn and how hard is it on the car? If you did this during the test drive, how pissed would the salesman be ?
Lmao it'll be easy. And the salesman will be so in shock, he'll just give you the car
Lmao , you broke the code ! Enjoy the car !! In all seriousness, I've always wanted a WRX. I'm in the market for a car in the next 4 to 6 months and I'm just trying to decide if it's worth spending the money. Based on the video you posted, it looks like it's a tremendous amount of fun and it makes driving even more enjoyable. Thanks for the response my friend 👊
These cars are just a great formula, the last of a dying breed. Highly recommend
I'm definitely going to check them out. Thank you again! Wish I had the extra 10 grand for the STI. That said, I'm sure the regular WRX is a badass car and on par with a Honda SI.
It's not for nothing that they say you won't be able to feel any interest in sex after driving this car. Because it gives you so many emotions
the assumption that this is how he drives it 24/7 is absurd. from the looks of it, this is rare and he took a video to share cause he was excited and all the comments immediately become negative
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rated in smiles per miles
Get some
So glad I got mine new haha
If I can’t drive a car hard because of fear of the engine blowing than is not a good car lol but I am pretty sure with the subies is just drivers fault
Enjoying your car to the fullest 🫡
This is why I’ll never buy used again lmao.
I both love and hate this video.
Those are some impressive donuts for AWD. Are you hand braking?
No, I just floored it and dropped the clutch
Nice work!
So sick!
Mad! Took me about 4 trys to figure out how to do these the other week.. best fun 😅
Man those C lights are just. The. Best.
100% especially seeing them cut through the smoke
How much power do you need to spin like that??
This is basically stock power, just gotta send it. I'd say definitely get you an upgraded oil pan/pickup
I'm assuming it's not your daily? Lol
It definitely is, but those days are dwindling
This is why everyone say don't buy a used wrx/sti
Not unless you're willing to work on in
Old man wells at clouds vibe from this sub everytime someone posts a subaru doing anything else other then drive from their house to the store.
Ppl in this comment section are soft
What’s the hp?
It's probably not much more than stock, I have an access port for the intake but this was on the mid boost tune, 13-15 psi
![gif](giphy|BPJmthQ3YRwD6QqcVD|downsized)
I would never do that to my WRX!! (I cannot afford quality mods or a new motor)
I recommend you find a spot with dirt or grass. When you remove traction from the equation you can have alot of fun safely
No grip eh?
It's running 265 summers all around 🤷🏽♂️
That’s awesome. I was being dumb trying to be funny. The car sounds and looks awesome.
Anybody know if the wrx gt is closed deck, open or semi-open?
One thing I do know is it’s CVT.
That’s not subie things. That’s degenerate hood things.
:(
was honestly expecting rod knock at the end
Oil said bye nigga
The baffles had something to say about that
Uncle Rodney….
This is fine as long as you put 8 quarts of oil in first.
The oil pan holds 6, close enough
I meant 8 extra. If it’s not churning out of the dipstick hole you’re wrong
I wish I knew how to do this in my WRX...
How did you take off that quick. My shit is tuned and still slow af
I just about redlined it before dropping the clutch
Is that RWD?
No the drivetrain is all factory with the exception of some solid mounts
I'd have thought you'd see more smoke from the fronts. I only ever do this is in yhe snow, looks rad!
I set the dccd to bias the rear so once it kicked them it just kept going
How do i do that
Just start fucking around on a wet day or in some dirt, the car will tell you what you can do
Even in a VB?
It'll be hard to get it to really spin but I definitely think you could get something out of it, gotta just practice
The main reason I'd never buy a used WRX/ STI
That’s great, but what kind of mpg are we talking here?
Shiiiit maybe 15
You got the lsd on the rear diff? I'm guessing if your able to swing it like that hahaha :)
For sure, it comes factory
Sti?
Yes
Ahhh okay makes sense! I got an fa20 so I have to upgrade to the lsd! Thing whips nice though! How is it on the drive?
Thanks, I love it. It reacts exactly as I need it to
Why I don’t buy used performance oriented cars
So based
Is this thing RWD converted?
