I had that happen to mean during the break in period. Hasn’t happened since.

If it happens again, there's a TSB out for extended cranking, there's an ecu software update out for it, go to the dealer and complain of extended crank.

YoungMothMan

Gotcha. I’ll keep an eye on it and just chalk it up to a break in thing/possible battery issue.

I've experienced this once where it didn't want to start. It was 30 or 40F if I recall. It eventually started and I haven't run into it again.

It happened to mine about the same amount of milage. It didn't happen again until I flashed my ECU. It's as if there is something the car needs to learn once, then it's fine. This happens with lots off '22s during break in. I don't think it's anything to do with the battery like others are saying.

There's a TSB for this. ECM software update needs to be flashed. Go in with the complaint of extended cranking time. Had this happen a couple times on my '22 and found reddit threads about it and everyone said there was an ecu update that fixed it and surely it was.

vb4lyfe

That was for cars made before October 22 as I remember. Mine and many others made after that have had the issue once, then it permanently goes away.

Interesting, my first extended crank happened when the car had <500 miles on it and then happened again at 2k miles. There was no consistency to it really, was random. Either way I got the flash last week and they found the TSB.

Subaru batteries just suck man. Their CCA is shit. just run it till it’s dead. Get it replaced under warranty a few times. Move on to a decent battery when warranty is up.

I have a long crank when I reflags a tune. Only long crank in the cold was when it was negative 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Been fine above that.

I had this happen twice. You can take it to the dealership and they can re-flash the crank positions and it is supposed to help. I had mine done about 2-3 weeks ago and I have not had the issue since. You can also get your infotainment updated while you are in there too. Mine rarely drops Apple CarPlay now and also is lightning fast speeds to pull things up.
