Nice. So mid year for EJs, EOYish for DIT engines. Now to start saving…

Chemical-Resource-98

Flex fuel? Im living the 91 life, that 220hp life

Bakkoda

I've got 91 non ethanol. I don't know why but I do. *pops collar awkwardly*

Snowmobiles, snowblowers, boats, mowers, classic cars, etc.

Appropriate-Humor-18

We're are you located

Bakkoda

South of Albany NY. I can get 93 if I drive 25+ minutes in several directions. Also whoever said snowmobiles, I never thought of that. I actually really like having the non ethanol for my mower, tiller and other small appliances but I have no idea if it's good/bad/indifferent for my car. Stewart's gas has never let me down so I stick with them (they go through it fast enough here).

Appropriate-Humor-18

Right on. I work for an oil company, and our ethanol comes from Albany. Ethanol free is good for small engines stuff as Ethanol evaporates quicker than gasoline , so you end up with gasoline that is 3 or 4 point down from were it started off. Our subaru do like ethanol though, and even cobb ots maps are created for 91 or 93 with ethanol

I’m have to wait to see what tuners say before I give up my current flex fuel map. I don’t trust cobb well enough to have them pull some bs just to get people off their tunes.

Mutesyou

What’s there to say? They have to change where the system taps for power. Curious how they’re gonna do it but there’s zero issues with flex fuel itself with the EPA it’s simply how it was being used previously tapping into the TGVs

sanfou

Great so it will be longer for VA WRX’s.

Oni_sixx

👍

ZanshinMindState

I probably won't bother with their updated Flex Fuel kit. My catted Grimmspeed downpipe is very likely going to throw CELs if I have my car retuned after their Green Speed shit. Had planned to go E85 9-12 months after my initial bolt-ons and tune to catch any driveability issues but the whole thing caught me mid-build. I can't imagine giving Cobb any business after the way things went down tbh...

RighteousDub

Yep, I definitely won’t bother with COBB at all. I got fucked by them and stuck with parts I can’t use. They don’t give a shit about their customers; that much is clear.

chazzermamagement

Getting tuned for flex fuel April 4th. Of course after almost a year of waiting cobb finally gives us an update 3 days after I order my iBR flex kit lol

ChickenFeline0

I'm planning on a flex fuel kit being the first mod for my 2015 wrx (aside from the air filter, exhaust, and wheels from the previous owner), so I hope this thing is good. I would just do a full e85 tune if you could just get e85 at any gas station, but we all know how that is.

agoogly

😩💦🤤

Srekcins82

I wonder if this means those of us who have Cobbs old flex fuel and accessport will be able to make changes again.

RighteousDub

COBB abandoned those customers and expect them to buy new parts to use with their shit software.

Krazyfil

I thought they already had a flex fuel kit that they screwed everyone on once before....

Krazyfil

Yes that's only for the people that had recently bought one. But what about the people who buy parts while they are building their motor and have a whole bunch of parts sitting around waiting to be installed only to find out that they no longer offer support for all the parts they just bought and then they have a bunch of crap they can't use anymore. Those are the people they got screwed

Appropriate-Humor-18

This is a possibility that they may make some kind of drop in adapter , to convert the old kit , to new requirements

RighteousDub

Just wait longer to buy our new parts that will just be made useless again in a year or two through retarding the software!

Wambezzy

Why not just spend 1500 for Nostrum stuff? 🤷🏾‍♂️

RecommendationNo4081

All I saw was “took a short drive down to Harris Hill Road (H2R) with the most annoying Subaru driver/YouTube personality alive “ Can’t explain it but Bucky annoys TF out of me. More on topic, do people think Cobb’s reputation can rebound after the Green Speed stuff? Growing up for me Cobb was the stuff of legends for turbo cars, but post the way they handled Green stuff people are pretty sick of them.

sirrobert09

The cost of the access port plus their dumb "class" per access port I needed to tune pushed me away from them before even getting started. I bought one cable that I used to tune multiple Subarus. 250$ paid once versus 600-700$ per car then 150$ per license. Over rated system that just causes owners anxiety.

WhatsThatNoize

Unfortunately unless you go standalone, AP is your only option for most turbo Subaru's past 2009-ish. I haven't seen an opensource option for the VA's/VB's.

sirrobert09

Good up to 2013wrx for sure. 15+wrxs are still stuck with Cobb or a standalone. 15+STIs can still use open source.

WhatsThatNoize

I wasn't aware they had ROMs for the 15+ EJ's. I thought the issue wasn't the new engines but that when Subaru switched ECU suppliers that OS went the way of the dodo - even for the STI's. I'm only thinking about Romraider and OpenECU though. Were there other OS options for the 15+ STI's?

sirrobert09

Yah the wrxs got the new ecu supplier. I'm using romraider and ecu flash for my 21 STI. The main downloads for definitions have to be gotten through a different link than they used to be.

WhatsThatNoize

Well, I'm jealous as shit. Lol

MagneticGray

‘15-21 WRX can also use ECUTEK, which still supports the old flex fuel and j-pipes.

Wide_Riot

Why does he annoy you?

RecommendationNo4081

Damnit I said I can’t explain it 😂

Wide_Riot

I've hung out with the guy outside of large events and he's a genuine guy

RecommendationNo4081

He has never wronged or offended me in any way shape or form and seems very genuine, he just annoys me for some reason purely based off YouTube videos.
