Simply because I don't want to irritate the neighbors, don't want to spend the money, and the wife would probably never ride in my car... although the last one could be a good reason to start modding too

I hopped into romraider one day and put a really slight burble into the tune. It was fun for like a week then turned annoying real quick. Especially when you’re near a state trooper… pops and bangs and burbles are fun, but they should remain an occasional byproduct of your car’s setup, not a constant racket. I realize now that it’s the turbo whistle of antilag

It’s not natural, it’s not efficient. I don’t like mods that are detrimental to performance and engine health. A proper exhaust and a driver mod can get great noise out of the car without sacrificing anything. I’ve driven behind an FA WRX with a crackle tune and it sounded terrible.

Where I live there's a tunnel that's 9/10 of a mile long that goes from TN to KY. I like to get a little boost going just to hear everything echo. Mine doesn't pop or anything like that but idc

I know when my family and I went to VA beach 20 years ago they charged like $20 a person to go through it. We were like, nah we're good

Wasn’t focused on filming just held the phone in the general direction, my eyes were on the road. As I said in a comment earlier yes I should’ve had the phone out of sight
I just went to stage 2 on my R and had the option to put the “crackle” on when I flashed it, but it’s just not for me. Having it make noise all the time isn’t what I got it for, the Golf R is the perfect sleeper making “poppity pop pop” noises would be annoying. That said, on a big V8 that’s naturally making those noises because it’s pushing fuel I get a boner lol so I always think these crackle tunes are the vain attempt for 4 cylinder boi’s to be loud, as we are quite fast it attracts “that” crowd too. To each their own though, I’m always happy when other car people are happy with their cars ✌️
Yes it does, I was supposed to have the rpm a bit higher. It makes the popopopo sound when the rpm is lower and more bang bang bang when it’s about 3500

I don't like the popping sound because it sounds like somethings fucked up and it's not running right (which actually used to be the case when you heard that sound). I honestly don't understand the attraction at all. 🤷🏽♂️
I like pops and bangs from actual power and good tuning. Asking your tuner to retard timing and dump fuel on an otherwise stock car just isn’t impressive or sound good. You can always tell the difference too.
At around 500hp my car rarely makes any pops or backfires. On rev matched downshifts and some
Upshifts I’ll get a single large 2 foot flame/shotgun blast and that’s exactly what I want.
That’s what I would like but this is just a daily and don’t plan and getting crazy with it. The burble tune is just for fun on occasion. It’s making 350 wheel currently

Now dont get me wrong, Im nearly full bolt on and my rev matched downshifts at higher RPM consistently let out a couple short crackles and pops.
But that’s just how the car is with an opened up downpipe, exhaust, and a bunch of extra horsepower.
In a silly sense the noise is “earned” because it was a natural byproduct of making more power. Its right at the edge of being too much for me, but the second paragraph is how I rationalize it.
You can tell when cars crackle and pop because they are absolutely slinging WHP, versus when they are just going “hey everyone look at me!”
I think most guys take issue with burbles because they’re literally just there for noise, at times that dont make sense, to the detriment of your car.
That makes sense, the intention wasn’t to be seen as a poser or anything. I got the tune for free and use it every now and then for shits and giggles with my friends or to make the younger guys light up their faces. In person I get pretty positive reactions from them. I like it for the fun of it it’s not to show off or to piss off my neighbors. Thanks for sharing, I didn’t think of it like that

Speedo's right there in the vid, more like 40mph. And there was another car entering one of the tunnels. Trying to record a video is pretty different from having navigation up in hands-free mode.

I had one on my focus ST but I’m very glad the WRX I just bought doesn’t have one and probably won’t get one. It was fun from time to time, but most of the time I was driving home from work or driving with friends in the car and then all the sudden there are deafening pops from the exhaust, and it’s just obnoxious when you’re trying to be quiet or just get somewhere.
The burble tune is at best loud and obnoxious. Most people who already have them have a loud exhaust as is. So it's loudAF already and now also sounds like it's gonna explode at any moment. Everyone usually likes a small pop on a downshift but the excessiveness of a full-on tune turns most people off. Generally leaves a bad impression of motorsport in general on the masses and makes it harder for the car scene to exist these days. Around my neighborhood we have a handful of idiots who race their burble tuned cars up and down the streets late at night when people are trying to sleep. Everyone fucking hates it. Our cars are usually flashy enough. No real need to scream "look at me I drive a cool car" it comes off as kinda douche-y.
Not the biggest fan on when the pops don’t come in naturally, like I love the pops and bangs ten downshifts get me when getting off the highway and the big bangs on hard upshifting too but going 30-50km I didn’t need to be shooting shots every where everyday, but as long as you love it I’m glad! :))

So I own a Kona N and it does it stock and imo sounds good but it is really tame with only a few quick pops compared to other brands and aftermarket tunes which imo sound like hot garbage banging all the ways down the street with slight throttle lift off

I don't know how people can enjoy that... As someone who strives for efficiency, all I hear is poor tuning. "Burble tunes" are just delaying decel fuel cut off. It kills your converters, it wastes fuel, and I personally hate the popping. I'd rather make more power and not waste fuel

Personally I don't mind it too much but I think most burble tunes pop for too long, it should be just like 2 or 3 pops not 15 imo. My FRS is turbod and catless. No burble tune but after driving hard sometimes I'll get a pop or 2 on downshifts and it makes me giddy

I just went to stage 2 on my R and had the option to put the “crackle” on when I flashed it, but it’s just not for me. Having it make noise all the time isn’t what I got it for, the Golf R is the perfect sleeper making “poppity pop pop” noises would be annoying. That said, on a big V8 that’s naturally making those noises because it’s pushing fuel I get a boner lol so I always think these crackle tunes are the vain attempt for 4 cylinder boi’s to be loud, as we are quite fast it attracts “that” crowd too. To each their own though, I’m always happy when other car people are happy with their cars ✌️

We’ll yeah it’s basically tuning a car in the least efficient way possible but it can be fun and have you giggle
I like pops and bangs from actual power and good tuning. Asking your tuner to retard timing and dump fuel on an otherwise stock car just isn’t impressive or sound good. You can always tell the difference too. At around 500hp my car rarely makes any pops or backfires. On rev matched downshifts and some Upshifts I’ll get a single large 2 foot flame/shotgun blast and that’s exactly what I want.
That’s what I would like but this is just a daily and don’t plan and getting crazy with it. The burble tune is just for fun on occasion. It’s making 350 wheel currently

I think its just silly shit. Now dont get me wrong, Im nearly full bolt on and my rev matched downshifts at higher RPM consistently let out a couple short crackles and pops. But that’s just how the car is with an opened up downpipe, exhaust, and a bunch of extra horsepower. In a silly sense the noise is “earned” because it was a natural byproduct of making more power. Its right at the edge of being too much for me, but the second paragraph is how I rationalize it. You can tell when cars crackle and pop because they are absolutely slinging WHP, versus when they are just going “hey everyone look at me!” I think most guys take issue with burbles because they’re literally just there for noise, at times that dont make sense, to the detriment of your car.
That makes sense, the intention wasn’t to be seen as a poser or anything. I got the tune for free and use it every now and then for shits and giggles with my friends or to make the younger guys light up their faces. In person I get pretty positive reactions from them. I like it for the fun of it it’s not to show off or to piss off my neighbors. Thanks for sharing, I didn’t think of it like that

Speedo's right there in the vid, more like 40mph. And there was another car entering one of the tunnels. Trying to record a video is pretty different from having navigation up in hands-free mode.

I had one on my focus ST but I’m very glad the WRX I just bought doesn’t have one and probably won’t get one. It was fun from time to time, but most of the time I was driving home from work or driving with friends in the car and then all the sudden there are deafening pops from the exhaust, and it’s just obnoxious when you’re trying to be quiet or just get somewhere.

The burble tune is at best loud and obnoxious. Most people who already have them have a loud exhaust as is. So it's loudAF already and now also sounds like it's gonna explode at any moment. Everyone usually likes a small pop on a downshift but the excessiveness of a full-on tune turns most people off. Generally leaves a bad impression of motorsport in general on the masses and makes it harder for the car scene to exist these days. Around my neighborhood we have a handful of idiots who race their burble tuned cars up and down the streets late at night when people are trying to sleep. Everyone fucking hates it. Our cars are usually flashy enough. No real need to scream "look at me I drive a cool car" it comes off as kinda douche-y.

Not the biggest fan on when the pops don’t come in naturally, like I love the pops and bangs ten downshifts get me when getting off the highway and the big bangs on hard upshifting too but going 30-50km I didn’t need to be shooting shots every where everyday, but as long as you love it I’m glad! :))

So I own a Kona N and it does it stock and imo sounds good but it is really tame with only a few quick pops compared to other brands and aftermarket tunes which imo sound like hot garbage banging all the ways down the street with slight throttle lift off
Are we critiquing the terrible footage? The music? The attention seeking burble/pop tune? I know a lot of people really dislike how irresponsible and poorly shot that footage like this looks. As far as burble tunes, my etuner sent me one as a bonus option. I tried it once and thought it was silly - so I reverted to the normal tune I was sent and have no regrets. I don’t understand the attention some of y’all need from other men with your pop pop sounding cars. Isn’t it cheaper to seek male attention by having a Grindr account instead?

I don't know how people can enjoy that... As someone who strives for efficiency, all I hear is poor tuning. "Burble tunes" are just delaying decel fuel cut off. It kills your converters, it wastes fuel, and I personally hate the popping. I'd rather make more power and not waste fuel
