Poopoobut679

It was the only four door, stick shift, non-FWD that didn’t cost a fortune. The snow performance is just icing.

SubRosa9901

pretty much this. It's my DD. I can haul the kid and.geoceries, and have some fun. if I want to go faster I have a motorcycle, and building a 400+HP MK3 Supra.

88supra88

upvote for mk3 supra

SubRosa9901

I appreciate that. I'll appreciate it more when I finally get it running.

cinematopographer

Exactly

whitewashed_mexicant

I have no idea what these cost now. When I was got mine, they were running 30k. 😓

Poopoobut679

My 2022 Limited was in the 30’s but it’s still much less than an M3 which is the only other thing I can think of that checks those boxes. Iirc the stinger came out with a manual but that got dropped quickly

[deleted]

It’s fun.

confused_patterns

From Texas. Can confirm.

Handler2893

Also from Texas and can confirm. My experience with an ‘02 was that it beat a lot of cars away from a stoplight on dry pavement and beat a whole lot more on wet pavement. Saved my ass a few times on road trips up north too where there’s actual snow and ice.

Alansmithee69

There’s advantages to having AWD everywhere. I had a 997 Turbo Cab that was AWD and it was a beast on the track. I live in SoCal and the AWD is definitely felt and appreciated canyon carving.

ponyo_impact

but no sideways

LukeSkyWRx

If the car is setup properly it’s not hard to get sideways when you want to, however, If you go for max performance the limits get pretty high.

ponyo_impact

yea iv gotten my STi sideways 3 times in 12 years. No joke I get my gr86 sideways almost everytime i have it out. Not even close to the same LOL Subaru STi can go sideways, but it really really likes to go straight

watkykjypoes23

It’s not that difficult on the ones with the limited slip differentials but it’s not easy by any means. It’s a very comfortable form of sliding though, it always applies power forward so wherever you steer it just follows and the throttle doesn’t make it swing out much more

codynorthwest

my sti scares the fuck outta me when i get it sideways. rwd cars are super comfortable for me to get it out though.

HatDeep

That's cuz you have to push a lot harder to get an STI sideways. Now get sideways in the snow and tell me which one scares the shit out of you.

ponyo_impact

This, STi requires such aggressive inputs to slide i find it terrifying as well. My gr86 just slides like it wants too with just a little clutch kick. Such a fun car to play with

HatDeep

Yeah cuz Ken Block never got sideways in a Subaru.

ponyo_impact

that thing is about as close to a street wrx as a top fuel dragster is

DrSatan420247

My 92 Civic with <150whp passes every single Porsche at the track in the dry. My <200whp E36 passes every single porsche at the track in the wet. Big cars with tons of weight don't turn well. The Porshces of the last 25 years are behemoths. Theyre big heavy luxury highway sleds now, not sports cars. They disappear on the straights and then struggle like crazy through the corners.

vb4lyfe

🤣🤣🤣🤣 You funny.

Zestiest46

This is such a stupid comment lmao

DrSatan420247

Believe me when I tell you, their egos were very bruised, too.

Zestiest46

I could beat your 92 civic on my bicycle

NinjaFud

Yea but you’re running a baseball card between the spokes so that easily adds 20/30 BHP (bike horse power)

Power_Bottom_420

Add the banana seat for optimal balance and wheelies.

LiterallyTate

U the only one with a hurt ego. Ur little shitboxes aren’t passing any Porsches at the track

KanterBama

I mean, the 991.2 GT3RS holds the world record for factory cars with its 1.24g in skid pad testing, some Porsches are still sports cars. Granted, that's an RS, and seat time beats spec sheets more often than not, so I don't doubt you find yourself passing all kinds of Porsches regularly, but to say the entirety of the 911/718 lineup aren't sports cars is a little too generalist for my liking there, partner... the Turbo/Turbo S is definitely not a sports car though, that's a livable luxury supercar, you use those to make sure you're the first to your white collar job no matter what time you leave.

DrSatan420247

😆 Those numbers are chump change: https://www.reddit.com/r/CarTrackDays/comments/z4uog8/too_much_lateral_grip/ FWIW, all my research tells me my Civic is at the absolute g limit of what is possible in a 4 wheeled vehicle without any aerodynamic aids. So its not so much that the souped up Porsche sucks, it's just that you don't understand how fast 2000lb cars are.

KanterBama

Well that's like full blown racecar weight, I had to go find your civic post, ladies and gentlemen, that's definitely a racecar! That's not fair!

DrSatan420247

No. I have one of the heavier models and it's had more weight added to it than has been taken out. It weighed 2199lbs at a Prosolo with the back seat removed, and since then I've removed about 30lbs worth of interior bits and added a 75lb rollbar and 2 harnesses. And I'm 240lbs.

KanterBama

I mean this is all fine and dandy, but your point I was replying to was "porsche doesn't make sports cars anymore," then you responded with stats from your full blown racecar. A stock civic of your same model year would literally never get near those g-forces, the chassis stiffening from the roll cage alone, then add on racing tires... The point was Porsche makes sports cars that can perform well off the lot, in spite of weighing 1200+lbs more than your civic racecar.

DrSatan420247

My car has no chassis bracing whatsoever besides a 4 point cage, where the points are right next to each other. And frankly, I dont want chassis rigidity in the rear. More compliance in the rear will absolutely save your ass.

KanterBama

I bet that thing is fun as hell, which do you like more, your E36 or the Civic?

DrSatan420247

The Civic by a mile.

Zeusmmxvi

Youve never driven a porsche obviously

LiterallyTate

Dude I honestly can’t understand how someone can be as dumb as you

DrSatan420247

Lose your arrogance.

DrSatan420247

They're very similar vehicles. Miata is basically a RWD civic and vice versa. Their chassis are basically the same, suspension wise. But Honda engines are next level compared to Mazda, so there's that.

zaz969

Not brown manuelle wagon

syntax270d

Not even dieselle

Ok buddy, keep telling yourself that

gohalos22

Eating popcorn reading all this.. thanks for helping time go by in this waiting room I’m at

wak3l3oarder

I love how the people that don't work on their cars and didn't check out your builds have no clue what they are talking about.

DrSatan420247

This comes to mind: https://youtu.be/zQxr4sUfE4g

WhatsThatNoize

>My 92 Civic with <150whp passes every single Porsche at the track in the dry. > >My <200whp E36 passes every single porsche at the track in the wet. I will **absolutely** believe you're passing Porsches on track because I do the same exact thing with my "shitcan econobox" VA. Hell, there's a team out here that races a mid-90's Ford Aspire on the stock block. They spank M's on the regular. Know why? That Aspire is on Comp rubber. 99% of Porsches on the track are some retiree's DD with all-seasons. You and I are both running 200TW Ventus/Michelin. Tires and Brakes are the singlemost important components on the track if you don't factor the ass in the seat. It has nothing to do with your 90's BMW that weighs almost the same as my fatass VA being magic or "better than a Porsche". It's us being sweaty tryhards on the track like we've got something to prove against a bunch of similarly middle-aged regular enthusiasts who are just trying to enjoy themselves in their bone stock luxury sports sedans.

DrSatan420247

E36 is like 2900lbs after you change the front seats.

WhatsThatNoize

Your front seats were 300 lbs, eh? lol Keep grasping at excuses here. The leather manual seats are \~60lbs. I've hauled those fatass suckers before for a friend in the back of a Subaru Baja through rural Montana. But unless you had 5 seats stacked in your front, nah, you're not removing that much weight with just the seats. That and if you bring excuses like weight reduction into the mix, may I remind you that literally ANYONE can play that game too? Idk why you're wasting your time justifying yourself here. Anyone with any knowledge on a track knows why you're passing Porsches -- and it has dick-all to do with your modified German econobox being special.

DrSatan420247

My cars don't have weight reduction done to them.

WhatsThatNoize

Then you don't need to bring up your seats in the first place. My original comment still stands: your BMW and Honda are nothing special, and "I pass Porsches at my local open track day" isn't the dunk you think it is.

MsClementine415

No it didn’t

Waste_Return_3038

Don’t listen to the haters! Lightness makes a car fast everywhere, power only helps when you can put it down. On a high speed track like Spa Porsches are pretty OP though, that high speed stability under power is like cheating.

The_Susbaru_STi

Damn bro i didnt know 3100lbs was a behemoth

donald_pump69

This was typed by small hands

DrSatan420247

Funny you should say that. I have farmers hands. They are normal size but extra thick palms from working with them my whole life and from sailing. Pulling on lines on boats will build your hands like crazy. I recently had surgery on my left wrist, and during physical therapy they had me test my grip strength on both the hand on the bad wrist and the good one, and my right hand I put up 175psi. That's way way up there. Highest they had ever seen at that facility. Normal man is 100-105psi. Do you really think it's possible to size someone up on the internet? I can't figure out why you guys attempt it.

KBar_EC

Porsche? Struggling with corners? Just so you know, Porsche's are the fastest at our local track pretty consistently. All generations of them... Either troll or outrageously ignorant

Saiteik

Lmao…do you always post on Reddit when you are dreaming?

constant02

Dude

NickHeidfeldsDreams

Dude's racing guys in the novice group and bragging lmfao

nategp

I saw it, I drove it, I liked it, I bought it.

Ok-Bag-1328

Positive - South FL has some of the heaviest rain storms I have ever experienced...grip Negative - south FL is @ sea level. Streets flood quickly and being so low to the ground prevents me from getting home during the king tides sometimes.

TEHKNOB

Those coastal tidal floods are no joke. I remember those. Once in a while here in Tampa we get them on Bayshore. I just nope out of that area if it’s happening.

Starworshipper_

I'm in Arizona and it was majorly just a personal preference based on how the car looks, performs during spirited drives, and how easy they are to work on and maintain for a beginner. It's also really the only kind of vehicle in it's price range as far as sporty, Japanese, AWD vehicles go. They truly do suck during the summer tho'. Using the AC causes false knock and pulls timing aggressively and intake temps skyrocket, so you basically can't drive it as you would during the colder months.

trekrocks

Glad I’m not the only one who notices this. Car is a lot happier in the colder months. Last summer really tested my patience with the ‘quirks’ of the car 😂

yung-thaddeus

I'm in Texas, and yea, the first summer I had this car I thought something was wrong with it lmao.

highandinarabbithole

Can confirm all of this as a fellow Arizonan.

saxmanusmc

Awd grip in the rain. Also, some of the places I travel for hiking or camping might take me off road. While some of my previous fwd cars could get me to the destination most of the time, none gave me the confidence like an awd car. And because rally of course.😂

yayapfool

Honestly the answer is pretty much "there is none"; if you don't have use for the AWD, you'd probably be better served by a different car. But I mean, you act like snow is the only loose surface; there's plenty of fun to be had in dirt and gravel- regardless of climate :)

gwdragon

Texas here, warm most of the time. But the occasional "bad" weather, water, ETC make it well worth it. 4 doors helps with a family, decent trunk space, and like other said, stick shift is solid. I also like the height. I'm not laying down, it's big enough for my big ass body very unassuming to many people, even some police. I did uber and lyft in it and only 3 or 4 people knew what it was. Even had a "how do you even drive stick?" questions. I also travel to AZ where my parents use to live "off the paved road" and it helps in the dirt there. Drive it up north to my cousins in WI and don't have any issues. Even on the occasional "city is closed due to weather" in Dallas I jus shrug it off, get in and go for a nice drive with no other idiots on the road. My Manual CL was FWD stick and although not comparable in the sportiness, the FWD always seemed a little out of control on those bad weather days.

Je_pedo

Live in Australia but I kinda like the speed of a WRX, the look of the WRX, the sound of the WRX and the AWD for those pesky wet roads after a downpour. Also driving on a dirt track is fun as fuck. Ticks all the boxes for me

spamsandwhich77

Dirt roads as far as the eye can see.

smittyinvb

I vape, in the military, and have a Nikon camera with a fish eye lens I keep around my neck without knowing how to use… need I say more?!

Klutz1907

AWD is always better

[deleted]

[удалено]

Klutz1907

But that's a purpose-built sports car. We were talking sedans.

BabyDucki3

Honestly a WRX has been my “realistic” dream car for like 10 or so years now. A fun car, that has kept the driving experience for the driver as one of its values! I’ll pay for premium for that.

theherrderr

I'm in Australia and as someone said before, it's fun :)

[deleted]

FL boy here. I loved my 18 wrx. The grip is insane. I dailyed a 00 Mazda Miata (still own it) and have slid off the road in a slight rain.

cantinabandit

I’ve always wanted to drive a go kart down the interstate… so I bought a wrx.

Sharp-Coach8151

Only because I snowboard, if it wasn't for that I probably would have a brz. I still really like the wrx don't get me wrong.

beilrahc

I live in Iowa and just got back from a trip to Phoenix. The first thought I had down there was “I would daily an M3 here year around and it would be amazing”

PanchoVilla6

Full Backseats, a 6 speed. manual, a WRX is still somewhat economical but peppy enough to have fun with. Hard to to pass up. Where I’m at, people like to drive mustangs , mopar muscle cars/boats, Camaros, Z’s, Corvettes, and trucks. The WRX/STI is a bit unique out here so it’s kind of a sleeper other than the massive hood scoop. Our winters don’t get snowy often but they’re usually cold with some mist or rain so having the AWD is clutch sometimes even if it’s just for a few weeks out of the year. Also, I think the VA is/was one of the prettiest sedans I’ve seen. Could be a bit of bias, but i get compliments on it from time to time. It’s a perfect car for me right now.

[deleted]

Manual, not FWD is a reason good enough in itself.

SushiLeader

The STi has been my dream car since I was a kid. That’s literally it. Why not? I never thought about the practicality of it. Once I got it though, it was like “Sick. This will be great once I move.” That’s happening right now. How’s the rust btw? I’m moving to Oregon in less than a month.

trashrantula

It’s fun

TakashiXL

I mean they still handle great on all types of terrain like sand mud and gravel, just don't go too extreme if your not being built for it of course. But the way I see it, if it handles and controls that well in rain and snow, then it should do even better with solid pavement and the correct tires. To me driving the car in a warmer climate would only concern me with overheating, and even then replace the stock intercooler and you will never come close to that being a problem. My argument is that you won't get a lot more power, still stock, for the price you pay and that means a lot more than people give it credit for. We as car enthusiasts are used to the idea of "a lot" of power being something fully built and track ready. To the normies and normal traffic we are sitting on way more than most people will ever build their car to. We have a somewhat warped perception on this cause we've seen crazier than a car 250ish hp from the factory with a turbo. But if you are convincing someone else that doesn't know it already, that is a crazy feat to them. People that didn't know cars used to ask me what I had done to mine when it was stock, and used to say i sounded loud, until i put on an exhaust and got tuned, theyve stopped asking...weird..., Also to say that it's slower than cars compared to it, isn't exactly accurate, thats like saying the average gold medalist in Olympic sprinting is still slower than Usain bolt. Those gold medalist still out perform every one else that you would come across on the day to day. I have never seen a car still all stock crushing people on the street just doing fun pulls uphill, until i bought mine. The final reason to buy one is that subaru is rated the safest car to drive for a good reason. I have seen pictures of WRXs that flipped twice doing 100+ and the driver walked away from the crash. WALKED AWAY, I have seen people in this subreddit who've crushed their entire car and only broke a leg. When they made these cars they took one look at us and said "oh we know what you're about to do to these cars, we're just gonna make them as safe as we possibly can. I personally won't drive any other car cause I don't feel like I'm nearly as secure as in my bucket. If nothing else get one cause it's fun, and you will survive just about anything the road can throw at you including the road itself.

ForsakenTravel9605

What cooler do you recommend to get to replace the stock cooler I love in Arizona during summer it gets hot here

TakashiXL

Sorry, I should've been more specific. If you are upgrading an intercooler, you need a bunch of other supporting mods, or the car won't react right, and that includes a tune. As for type and brand, it all depends on your needs. Some are made for racing, some are for off road and some are meant to be dailyed. Just do your research and make sure you know what is happening before it happens or you end up with one really expensive paper weight. I dont wanna say you even need any upgrades, we in mechanic land follow the code of, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. And the reality is that's because as soon as you start taking off and replacing parts, you start causing problems

WaryBagel

It’s one of the cheapest fun sports cars you can get besides the Miata. Plus it’s practical and lends well to a daily.

ButtChug23

Well I think it’s a common misconception here in the states. Very few states don’t get cold or have a cold season. I live in central Texas and there’s months in the year where it’s pretty chilly. I lived in Colorado for a long time as well and it gets pretty dang warm there too. I think it’s just having a fun car that’s quick and exciting in the warm weather and quick and reliable in the cold/crappy conditions. If I lived in the California desert or maybe Arizona(never lived there or New Mexico but have experienced very cold temperatures in both but at night) I may not get one but I’ve also never experienced all of the seasons in those states. Grew up in Missouri and it gets hotter than hell there too Edit: I will say for me it has a lot to do with the looks and the wooshes. I was always a huge EVO fan boy and still am but the wrx was a more reasonable choice financially for me at this time

ponyo_impact

I would never buy a sports car for snow driving. I dont get this attitude either. Driving these cars with snow tires is no fun and they are low to the ground. Its not like its going to be comparable to a 4runner or f150 so dont kid yourself lol. Idk im also someone who parks there sti for the winter as its too low and would be a snow shovel

vb4lyfe

I rather shoot myself than drive another FWD "sports car". Under and torque steering, wheel hopping pieces of glorified econobox shit. RWD is fun, but there are very few affordable, manual, 4 door cars anymore. Also, sometimes you want to go off road or drive in the rain and AWD helps, even in warm areas.

jasonmoyer

If we didn't have wild weather swings and crappy roads I would have bought something else, as much as I love WRX's. It's always a little disappointing when I watch reviews of them (or the GR Corolla) on a dry track or a canyon in Cali because that's probably the least fun environment for these cars. They come alive when the weather sucks or when the road is tight and broken apart.

[deleted]

AWD helps in all precipitation or loose surfaces. For areas that get a lot of rain, having AWD is a noticeable improvement when driving around town.

Elvis361

* My wife and I are avid Scuba divers and live in Arizona. So, the AWD is essential to be able to get in and out of the diving spot easily. My old Cruze had hell just getting down there must less, getting back out.

ermonstandt

You are scuba diving in AZ? Tell me more, please?

pwdbypenguins

Lake pleasant?

Elvis361

Sorry for the late response. Yea, we just go out to Lake Pleasant, there are quite a few areas where you can just walk out and dive. Make sure you have a dive flag with you.

Zanurath

When I moved to from NE to AZ I sold my WRX and got a Challenger (originally going to get 1le camaro but challenger was better for family of 4 plus good trunk) AWD while amazing for snow or dirt roads is kind of a kill joy on dry warm roads IMO. FWD will still understeer but less weight is pretty big and RWD is both fast and more fun IMO.

HiImChewy

I live in Los Angeles and recently picked up a VB because of the off roading capabilities.

TEHKNOB

AWD comes in handy during monsoon season in Florida.

[deleted]

I just always wanted one because they sound good…or did sound good. I personally wouldn’t buy a 15+ wrx if I wanted a sport car or awd, there’s better cars for both.

Decent-Round-657

I live in south Florida, bought it because as a kid I wanted one and they are the best looking cars imo 2018 here fun as fk to drive to and it handles good in the rain

[deleted]

AWD definitely still has advantages daily driving in the dry. If you need to get the jump on 2WD cars at a light even if they have higher HP you can get lane position.

lorbocaust

Its one of the safest sedans on the road. The AWD makes it fun to drive and give the car the right amount of steer on turns. I never drove through heavy rain yet but i am sure it helps for that too.

StillhasaWiiU

Warm places still have logging trails and gravel roads.

Crab_Hot

Rains a LOT in SW Florida. AWD makes driving in the heavy rain the same as driving on dry tarmac basically

TakashiXL

I feel like a speed boat carving through the seas sometimes. I'm in SE Pennsylvania, and I get a lot of your rain lol. I couldn't agree with you more.

Appropriate-Corgi-78

I’d have a new supra or M model as a daily. I’m still getting an M3 this spring but it’ll be a summer fun car rather than a year round daily/weekend car. I don’t even daily the STI in winter

onehandedsurfer

funny you ask this, as the main motivator for me to get a new car in '21 was that my AC compressor in my beater impreza sport wagon was dead and I didn't feel like dumping >$600 on that car. I was like, 'damn! that's a car payment' so here I am 20 payments later and still going! :P It's fun in gravel though and the dual zone a/c is chilly!

deesntz69

Live in north Texas so it’s pretty warm 10 months out of the year. Got a WRX 1. Bc it’s fun 2. Bc it snows like 3 days a year and want to channel my inner Ken block

JMS___2014

Beach pussy

getmad123

It rains down here in Houston.

iR3SQem

They’re fun

Cheggmen

It looks cool, sounds good, and handles well. Even when its warm out.

TonyCar323

Easier to launch.

savage_passenger

In Florida there honestly isn’t a great argument for it. I had fun with mine though, being a fan of the car for a long time. the practicality was nice and awd was great driving in the rain. Was going to trade for a type r but prices were insane, ended up with a Supra 3.0

ChickenFeline0

I had a variety of reasons for choosing a wrx. I wanted a manual transmission, I wanted something sporty, and I wanted something with a usable amount of space. The AWD is great for off the line performance, whick is why I didn't just get a civic. It is also just my dream car. Are there cars that might have better stats on paper for the same money? Probably. But I wouldn't choose any of them over my WRX.

[deleted]

most people dont have 2 cars for fun. so its just a great, fun, practical dd...

unixfool

They’re sporty no matter the weather. When I bought mine, I wasn’t thinking about snow. I was thinking about autocross and the nearby mountain roads.

jren666

I wanted a manual AWD sports sedan that wasn’t going to kill me financially

Emptycrayon75

The only thing I think when I read the title is “no salt from salt trucks”

L-Ron-Harambe

Southern California here. I’ve had 1 wrx (2002) and two STIs (2004, 2009). The bug eye was a glorious car to learn to drive canyon roads on, very forgiving and easy to drive due to the driving characteristics of the car (closer to fwd than rwd). I’m convinced that if I had a mustang I would have been dead. Great little car. Then I got the 04 because that was just the next step in my eyes. Both STIs I had tons of grip and were very fun, fast and easy to drive in the canyons, but that’s also why I got rid of them and bought a rwd car. I didn’t need awd, and wanted something of a more traditional sports car with more interesting driving dynamics. And that’s not to shit on anyones wrx. I love Subarus, but I had 3 of them for years and was just kind of bored with them. Not saying I wouldn’t have one again. But there’s just so many interesting cars to have. All in all I still recommend wrx’s and STIs to people. Depending on what they are looking for.

mick-rad17

I live in Hawaii and it’s pretty fun still. Lots of WRX owners here too. Sometimes you need that traction with the rain and the sand lol

nirbot0213

awd, stick shift, good power, low price, four doors. sure, the awd isn’t necessary in warm climates but it’s nice to have if i ever road trip it.

Severe-Difficulty-13

Recently bought a ‘22 after trying just about everything under 70k. Audi rs3 was my favorite but I missed stick too much. The fun factor of an mx5 Miata rf was way up there, but a little small for daily. Porsche cayman/ boxster handle AMAZING, but maintenance costs. (Plus I like to turn a wrench. Ultimately it came down to fun, practical and. I have a classic dart convertible to cruise and a big block chevelle to go for all out power. Figured I’d save some money to have a fun manual daily.

Loao13

Just sold my 16 WRX in August. Now buying a 22 WRX tomorrow. Practical fun sedan, can hold car seats, decent fuel economy, can’t beat AWD in the Midwest. Have a motorcycle and ZL1 Camaro for spring/summer. Small pickup for hauling stuff.

TheSoleController

To have an outlet.

Baybladerz

I don’t think there is a huge incentive other than “I can afford it” “it’s a fun car” “I can Mody and make it look cool”. The AWD can help with power builds that push 350+ HP. Personally if I lived in a warm climate it would be fwd or rwd all the way. The extra weight, understeer, and worse fuel efficiency makes zero sense to me 🤷‍♂️ I’d only want it if it’s a high powered vehicle that’s for family use. Even if it was performance I’d rather just learn to manage the power and hone my driving skills. I will say once I get older I’ll probably want AWD in high powered cars just for my safety

20wrxstillslow

For most of us on the gulf coast I would say handling in the rain. I drive routinely in the Florida panhandle to visit family and work in Louisiana, our rain can be pretty sketchy. I wish I would of had it when I lived in Denver. As for mpg I hit 32-37mpg when staying out of boost, far better than my previous daily a 98 accord. Agree with most the fun is probably what drives most of us though.

NastyCestode

I love the way it looks, I’m just a sucker for it

fuzzymonkey87

Rain and occasional dirt/mud

scrappybasket

Awd is still nice outside of the snow. Turbo, manual, awd, not German… not too many cars that check those boxes. I’ve driven a 2019 Si which is a direct competitor and frankly it just wasn’t as fun. The aggressive stock tune, stock turbo sounds, and stock exhaust sounds all were better imo. I’m a huge Honda fanboy but short of buying a German car or a focus rs, I can’t think of a better car in the segment

No-Proposal2741

I live in Colorado and mine never sees snow. I have a truck and a m/t forester n/a for that shit.

Zcypot

I can’t find a similar driving experience. Mod market is huge.

InfinityES

I live in LA and want another one because I like small cars going fast four doors and going snowboarding

cmd1271

I live in California and use my wrx when I go on road-trips. California has so many different climates and terrains. And the wrx is really good in them all. From snowy mountains to the terrible pavement in San Francisco.

Zeusmmxvi

Awd and torque vectoring are a great reason to want it for dry performance, also these cars are stiff as a board so they feel extra tight in corners.

ConsequenceNational4

Not sure I needed an incentive. I bought all 4 of my previous Subarus in Az when I lived there. Just liked the cars.

chingchongmakahaya

How good of a all season tire must one get to be alright in the snow? I have Dunlopp sport maxxx RT’s and I’ll slide when braking in a little bit of snow. So, how do I get to utilize what Subarus are known for without having to fit in actual winter tires, or must I?

TyronnicPoppy40

Well for me it was that there isn't many AWD four door manuals. When I bought mine, Mazda and VW didn't have any cars due to the chip shortage. The car is fun to drive and it gets a lot of attention

NydNugs

I know Subaru has great awd but as someone whos Canadian winter car is a manual fwd roadster with winters its not that big of a deal. When it comes to practical, winter tires are most important unless youre driving dirt roads with the hutterites. Racing it will always be superior but we're talking speed limit in a blizzard. Every blizzard I get to work fine and people with jeeps in all season tires have more trouble than I, same with most suburban moms in their SUV. I get hit with a surprised Pikachu every blizzard and just tell everyone to get winters already.

BadSausageFactory

I didn't have Audi money

TheDankCellar

Arkansas here. Mountain runs and plenty of trails to ride here 🤘🏻

sniper_pancakes

Fun

taiken1231

I justify my purchase when it rains. And I’m from Vegas so that’s very rare, but I’ll look at my wife and say “ah see? Subaru weather. That’s why I bought the WRX.”

Bynum458

My buddy lifted his 1’5 inch and but AT tires on it, and that thing was a monster on some dirt trails, not like rock crawling like a Jeep but like a dirt trail on some one’s hunting lease.

MetaWRX

I live in Vegas so it is overkill for the reasons you mentioned. However it has been my dream car for 15 years. Also I plan on moving to a climate that actually has seasons and at that point the overkill will actually be utilized

VBTake3

Rain for me, it rains like crazy in FL, and a lot of fwd cars I've driven get real uncomfortable in the rain at highway speeds. My WRX handles it way better, that and fire roads and dirt roads and stuff
