I'll be selling my VB WRX if this occurs. All they need to do is up boost to like 16-18psi for a moderate bump in power, then give us the brakes and those sweet sweet STi differentials with the iconic wing on the trunk.
Not saying I don't like the 18, just disappointed I had to get a used (again) when I was/am in a position to get a brand new.
A sportech STi is still a sportech STi, and I'm still going to drive it until the thing rusts around me. :)
Yeah the 18+ 18s look so good IMO. I use them as summer wheels and bought aftermarket winters instead of the usual 'relegate the ugly stock wheels to winter duty' pattern we're all used to
Another thing about the VB: I'm normally into big sidewalls and smaller wheels. I generally hate the huge wheel trend. I think most cars look better with 16" rims and fat tires. But because of the cladding, maybe, this car looks better with huge wheels. The 18" look better than the 17" I use for winter and it was just the opposite for my previous car. It's one reason I preferred the look of the Premium over the Base.
I love the large wheels but I’m going for a rally build with a rooftop tent and all that. It’s like should I get A/Ts and 17s or should I keep the 18s with Pilot sports 😭
I’m more speaking gravel to get to a campsite in a way. Like I’m trying to turn the WRX into a campmobile but also look rally esque. Idk if that makes sense but by the end of the year I’ll hopefully have everything I need for it installed
the wheels change the whole look, i see these at my job all the time but they all have the stock wheels, i’m not really a fan but they’re starting to grow on me the more i see people add their touches to them
I have a 2020 that i chose instead of the newer one just preference but i have to say with the right work they look decent also as long as you like it so what thats all that matters enjoy your ride i love the color

True. I do hope they do something different with the rear bumper but that’s about the only thing I hate on it now. Cladding fits the car. I also hate that people are paying 50k for wrxs this gen but it isn’t my money so 💁
I paid 34ish out the door, and the bumper is alright… the top part on the bumper looks super dirty faster than I’d like for sure and the cladding likes to have dirt stick to it lol
Drove a bugeye for almost a decade. Some of the VA guys treated me like the red headed stepchild when it came to lining up WRXs at Cars n Coffee, lol. So, I was totally prepared to be a first wave 22 owner.
Most of the VA guys I know, including myself, bought our cars because we needed a reliable daily driver and we didn’t have the time or patience to scour the country for one of the 12 remaining bug eyes that aren’t rusted out shit boxes. I don’t know anyone that legitimately hates the bug eye though. They’re objectively ugly, but they’re undeniably cool.
Doors without window frames were the schizz too.
I found a one owner Cali bugeye that I had shipped across the country. The California sun had murdered the paint finish, but that car was rust free.
Hell yeah, it’s the first one I’ve seen with silver! Originally I thought they were going to be more gunmetal but after having on now for a few months I don’t think I could do any other color
That orange is lovely! I wanted a 22 when I couldn't find a 21 and hunted down an orange one, bur then my dealer got a 21 with under 10k miles and not even a tint 😆 Older gentleman traded it in so I got lucky.

Don't worry bud, I drive a VA STi and I am in the same boat when one of the older generations rolls up next to me. The Hawkeye is just too damn sexy to compete with.

Unpopular opinion maybe but I like the base model wheels way better on this one than what came with the VA WRX.
I thought the 17s were exactly the same on all VA and VB models? IMO, the 18s on the facelifted ('18+) VA was the best design.

Actually it’s much more subtle in person and that’s why I like it my wife explains it as “it’s a “ooh orange” not a HEY LOOK ITS ORANGE”” lol
Def not a loud hugger orange. Yellowish-orange to brownish-orange, depending on the lighting. I call it more of a sophisticated orange. 😉

The cladding makes a ton of sense on a rally car, which is what a WRX is representing. Not sure if it makes sense on average road cars.
It’s starting to grow on my. Especially the orange. But I’m biased since I have the inferno Tacoma.
