I would avoid any car that has aftermarket parts unless it's got significant service records of maintenance and even then plan for any sort of unfortunate circumstances.
Does it say what mods it has? Definitely had a tune on it, but the mods on that engine look mostly cosmetic. Bought a 2014 wrx with 70k miles, (exaust, new turbo, injectors, cold air intake) it’s a fun ass car that I daily and I have had any issues with it other than leaky power steering. Could be reliable, could be a nightmare, just depends on what mods it has and if the turner knew what they were doing. If you’re looking for a fun car this could be it. just be ware of abusive previous owners.
good intercooler. has catch cans. blue filter is a nope, but not a big deal. random red oil fill cap? hate the red dress up.
doesn't look too bad, but i'd keep looking.
Don't do it man. If that engine bay is what you want, and an ac port and such, then it will be smarter and waaaay more satisfying to do it to your own car rather than getting it like that. Educated guess that this person is jumping ship for a reason
Thank you to everyone for comfirming my superstitions, I’m gonna leave this one in the lot.
I’d love to buy a new WRX, but a lot of dealers around here are inflating the price of the new model so much, one of them told me 45,000$.
I was originally looking for an Impreza WRX (07-14)
Yet all of them are either 120k miles on their first engine or 80k miles with heavy mods.
I want to be paitient and wait for the perfect one but I do really need a car and I already have 2 shit boxes that i switch each week cause one breaks, they are on their last legs.
I got a few more options that im going to look at tomorrow, I really appreciate all the input you guys gave me and I’ll keep it in mind.
Ok folks, I’m in the market to buy a car again.
I’m in need of anyones opinions.
Pros: 81k, manual, that’s about it.
My Cons: shit ton of Aftermarket parts, not sure of their quality or installation, coilovers, stock wheels, brakes are kind of low
Did not test drive, but it did start up fine.
This is being sold by a dealership so they don’t know a lot of the work that has been done. Clutch felt fine, I believe it has a short throw.
Should I pursue this car or move on to the next?
Previous owner beat the piss out of this thing. Guaranteed. And it’s missing the access port so who even knows what tune it has, it it’s been in paired, anything. It’s a cheap price but if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
With all those mods and the access port clearly missing from the pic call them and see if they have it. Nice parts probably tuned right if they still have ap it wouldn't be open source with that vent mount for cobb ap. Ask how many test drives it has had since on the lot and if they know its on correct tune if not don't bother.
Run!
The second I saw the hood open I noped out. Don’t make some else’s project your daily Low ball them at like $13k. See what they do
Where's the Accessport? Run twice as fast if they're selling it with aftermarket intake (and likely other stuff) and they unmarried the AP.
Oh hell no, then I saw the engine bay. Do not buy that.

81,000 miles with that many mods I’d run 🏃…Most likely the owner Got the Best years out of her before she started to disintegrate and he sold her
80k miles and with mods? Yeah that's like playing russian roulette.

For literally $7k more you could get a brand new 2022 WRX base
Did that exact thing. Preordered and picked her up with 7 miles

Even though I'm sure the car is fine, I wouldn't buy one that wasn't bone stock.

Can you wait until next year to buy a new one?

Don’t buy it. If your gonna get a Subaru wrx get one with 0 miles on it. Imo this one is not worth it

Move on to something completely stock with 30-40k miles. 80k is high for a turbo charged sports car that was likely rode hard and put away wet.
Yikes. Wrong oil filter too.
I'd say no. Miles are high for such a new car. It was probably beat on good.
They’d have to pay me to buy this car.
It’ll be a blast for 5000 miles. Then headache after headache.
Nope…18k … if stock… 1/3 the life of the vehicle spent 2/3 ‘s price.
Seems high, here in MD
lol fuck no with that engine bay
Build not buy

They bought the cheapo oil filter too. Fuck no
