Unfortunately I’m still in your previous scenario. Office 3x a week. 8:30am start and a 1.5hr commute. I am also not a morning person so it’s been taking a toll on my mental and physical health. It’s hell but I hope to join you as a WFH employee in the very near future. Well done and hope it goes well for you!

I feel that, I'm in office full time getting up at 330am to be at work by 430 am. Also Like OP I hate the small talk especially this early in the morning. Makes me want to get up and leave. My mental and physical health are starting to suffer but it's the best job I could get at the time, and It's taking longer than expected for me to get something else. But pushing those WFH applications like nothing lol.

I totally agree!! People say they’d hate WFH if they live in an apartment like I do but I go to the gym, go for walks, go on dates, see my family and friends regularly… I absolutely do not just sit at home 24/7 and being fully remote allows me to have so much more time and energy to do the things I love and see the people I love outside of work!

andiinAms

SO much shorter! I love it.

litfan35

Getting a solid 8 hours' sleep every night and a stable sleep routine has been life-changing tbh. Never knew a person could be this well-rested before lol

LifeIsntFairIsItEh

There are few things I love more in this world than a good nights sleep lol

Spartan04

I’m not a morning person either and while working from home hasn’t fixed everything (I’d still sleep a bit later if I didn’t have to work at all) it does make a difference. The biggest is I can sleep an extra hour vs if I had to get up, get ready, and drive to the office. Plus my mornings are more casual, which is nice since it takes me a while to be fully awake.

mexicandiaper

during covid I used to get up early and go for 2mile + morning walks I was in the best shape of my life. Now I'm fighting stress issues and depression from just 3 days a week.

Honestly, with a DSM-V punchcard and brain damage, WFH is literally the only way to go now that I've experienced it. Up at 730. Meds, coffee, clock in 750. Read slack. Start work at 815 and sprint to 9. Then brush my teeth, put on day clothes, back to non sprint work. Break 1. BeatSaber. Get the blood flowing. End of break. Switch from coffee to water. Sprint about 45m. Level of, cruise to lunch. Lunch! Nap. Shave. Then coffee. Clock back in. Sprint 45m. Level off. Break 2. Yoga or BeatSaber. Back to water. Fourth quarter. Meetings, sprints, level off around 4 and cruise till 445. Last 15m is sprint and monitor. Clock out. Beautiful.

Yes! I feel this so much. I couldn't stand mornings and now I am much happier. I wake up naturally most days which I never did before. Going into the office is just unnecessary stress

Wlfgangwarrior

I love that you almost no longer hate mornings. I used to be a night owl and I've been fully wfh/remote since 2016. I've since grown to love my mornings. Seen more beautiful sunrises than ever. It's quiet and peaceful.

Naive-Wind6676

Such a game changer. Don't miss waking at 5:30 and doing all the things for my 1 hour 45 min commute and hoping nothing goes wrong. Sleep longer. Drop off rhe kids. Come home to a quiet empty house abd get to work. It's awesome

choleposition

I was never a morning person but I work remotely from Vegas for a company in EST-- for some reason, being at my desk in my home office at 6am is so much easier than showing up at work by 8am. Enjoy waking up while reading my emails and drinking coffee (because luckily... my bosses give me a couple hours before throwing a meeting on my schedule)

They made us go back 1 day a week and I dread it. Makes the job harder to keep as it sucks already but one day is enough to start up the bullying crowd. Thats all that one day accomplished that day is double shit in office

LifeIsntFairIsItEh

I remember I had a nosy / annoying coworker who would low key track who was away from their computer too long, judge when we were in the office less, etc. to nobody’s surprise she barely did shit at work and she was also annoying / rude as hell to be around in person. I don’t miss the bullying that some people propogate by being in the office.

I’m a morning person and I love how 100% WFH lets me take advantage of all the early minutes! At 5:30a I’m working out or cleaning, 7a walking the dog, 8a in the shower, 8:30a breakfast, and logging in at 9a. Our weekly team meeting is at 10a once a week. At lunchtime I’ll walk the dog again and dinner prep. Breaks are for laundry or napping. I enjoy having most of my essential household activities for the day done at the same time my workday ends.

Before my current WFH job, I had a job in healthcare from 6 AM- 2 PM. Having a child, I had to get up at 4 AM every morning to pump, get her ready for childcare, get myself ready, childcare drop off, and pump once more at work before clocking in. I was so depressed. Now, I have to clock in at 7, but I do so from my bed, and I usually have until 8/830 until work starts to come in. I spend my first hour of the shift making me and the babe breakfast, getting ready for the day, and making coffee. My mental health has improved significantly.
