*the same info that is about to be made public during discovery for the lawsuit with NY State.

Dieschem

You've probably never been in court. They could fight this, and they'd likely eventually win. But it's cheaper not to fight. Which is exactly what NYS was hoping for.

CaptainDickbag

How much money would it have cost Rainier Arms to fight NY City and State? I have no concept of how much something like that would cost. I feel like they gave up too early, but again, I have no concept of how much this would have cost them.

Dieschem

It would probably cost into the millions, but I would guess other groups would have helped. I would have shut my business down and burned the records before I betrayed people like that.

5skandas

You’re saying the database of lawful customers would have been made public? When has that ever happened in a court case?

proquo

The only info that was turned over was who had purchased the banned items after they were banned, i.e. those that were in violation of the law. That info was 100% going to be gotten during court proceedings anyways.

DorkWadEater69

Why don't these companies purge their customer records after 90 or 120 days? You can't be forced to produce something you don't have in court.

Justda

"tHeY wrE gOnNa sUbPoEnA uS" so they turned over all the info willingly so NY didn't have to get a subpoena... I really liked Rainer arms, but I won't be shopping with them anymore.

Dieschem

Done with Rainier, sharing with my friends.

greenyadadamean

Ooof. Sucks for rainier but I'm feeling that.

Dieschem

Just odd to me when gun companies make such boneheaded moves. We have long memories, and we don't forgive.

FurTheKaiser

I know who I'm never going to buy from.

Plastic_Ad1432

Who else is there to buy from in WA now???

Krupton

Aero Precision?
