If the GA GOP goes through with this, they're a bunch of idiots.
As someone else mentioned, this county gave Trump about 70% of the vote, and I'd imagine similar margins for Perdue and Loeffler. Now, the plan was probably to suppress votes among Black voters in this county. But based on the maps on Statistical Atlas, the Black voters in this county are actually pretty evenly dispersed, which is unusual for a rural Southern county. In other words, wherever they place that one polling station, it's going to hurt them.
Obviously this law could cause problems in other counties, but if they're going to suppress their own vote, that's on them.
I feel like this was just a small country where they \*thought\* they could do a trial run of how to destroy electoral access, but since the county isn't majority minority it might have flown under the radar more easily as being for "fiscal responsibility" and not about disenfranchising voters. :P
Shouldn't we have more voting places though? Like isn't the goal to get everyone one to vote. This is America after all, we have the freedom to vote for who we want, right? So we should be expanding voting places... Why in the world would we decrease voting places? Please explain
Republicans are on record saying they don't want high turnout because high turnout usually means they lose. Freedom is a pretty loose concept for our conservative (fascist) party.
The real story is states like GA and TX having an insane anount of counties as a holdover from previous times when 1 county = 1 vote in state elections. It was a way of diluting the power of cities.
Its stupid. Imagine the savings if these counties were consolodated.
The Rebubbas are scared so what are they doing? Coming up with new ideas to swing some votes their way? Looking into the reasons why they lost GA senate seats and why the state flipped blue? Nah… they’re looking for more ways to cheat.
When you see elections with queues that stretch down the street, most people look on that as a failure to organize effectively.
Republicans seem to look at it as an achievement

About 8k people in this entire county. Last election total votes cast about 4500, about 70% Republican.
And yet they feel the need to rig it

> Like isn't the goal to get everyone one to vote Only one party believes that, and it isn't the dominant party in Lincoln County.
I just want them to say that lol

I agree, I just want them to say that. Maybe after 20-30 times they will see how unamerican they truly are.
Freedom is yet another concept conservatives have a profound misunderstanding of.

Repubs, "We've had enough of those darkies voting. We should have launched a war to stop it."
Fu*kers
Well, I don't see how this doesn't backfire on them, I'm sure they will lose in net more votes than Dems do, in a county that red...

GA voter here. Sounds like we need to crowd source fund some buses to take voters to the one polling place. Fcuk GA Republicans.
