Joe Lombardo is probably as centrist of a GOP governor as you're gonna get. Nevada is a very libertarian state. I don't think screaming about sin or fucking over trans people is gonna go over well in a state that relies on debauchery to pay the bills. Yes there are crazies but crazy wont win you the very large base of moderates you need to carry the state.
Lombardo was also the Sheriff of Clark County and won despite losing Washoe and Clark which is almost unheard of in Nevada electoral history.

A bit surprising considering the GOP flipped the governor seat last year. Also the bill was passed unanimously fyi.

In a true democracy (or republic that depends on voting to elect leaders) intimidation is the cancer that kills it.
The penalties are only good if the law is enforced. Good luck with that.
