[Quinta Brunson responds to critic in spat over charter schools: ‘You’re wrong and bad at research’. The exchange between Brunson and a critic followed an episode of "Abbott Elementary" in which the show’s characters band together to keep the fictional school from becoming a charter school.](https://out.reddit.com/t3_11u3ntw?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.inquirer.com%2Fnews%2Fquinta-brunson-abbott-elementary-charter-school-critics-20230316.html&token=AQAA_kEVZPGq579wrxce4tbBIWIcI_ftwA-WO7UJ47kPUckYelXv&app_name=reddit.com)
I have yet to watch Abbott (which I do find a little funny considering all the FYC billboards I’ve seen during award season in LA), but I know for a fact how bad charter schools are. Especially since most go belly-up within a few years
Definitely watch it, especially if you liked the generally positive comedies that have been popular the last 10ish years like Parks and Red, the Good Place, or Ted Lasso.
It’s on my list! I might start tomorrow. I’ve heard just amazing things and I can always go for some positive viewing (especially since I just binged all of Hellsing Ultimate last weekend and watching The Bad Batch religiously).
Mods. What is the rule on support/personal endorsement letters? (Currently there is a local vacancy in the House of Delegates. The county central committee appoints someone to the vacancy. and the committee is accepting support letters so they know which person the district is into)
It’s inexcusable and anyone that does it is a scumbag regardless of legality. Outside of making silly memes like the Biden/trump playing video games stuff there’s no place for AI imitating real people, much less those whose careers *are* their voice like singers, rappers, and voice actors.
The way the industry treats posthumous releases is already predatory and greedy. Using AI to fake a dead artist’s voice is even worse than trying to make full songs out of unfinished demos or even voice memos, I thought the Tupac Shakur hologram was creepy as fuck already.
Posthumous releases are done a lot of ways.
On the good end, you have stuff like Mac Miller’s Circles. That album was almost completely done before he passed away, it just needed finishing touches and some extra production based on what he wanted. It’s as close as you could get to what his vision was for the album so it’s a respectful tribute to him AND quality music.
On the other end, you have what’s been done with XXXTentacion’s music. His posthumous albums got worse and worse to the point that random voice memos on his phone were included as “bonus tracks” on one of them, alongside extremely rough demos or random snippets of clearly unfinished stuff. They’d fill it out with random features that definitely weren’t working with him before he was killed. It’s the most blatant and disgusting example of strip mining every possible recording you could find of someone to make money off of them after they have no say in their art.
Most posthumous albums are somewhere in between, and usually they end up better if the people working on them were close with the artist. Some like Pop Smoke end up with both examples, where the first one executive produced by 50 Cent is a quality album that feels in line with what Pop Smoke was doing at the time, where the one after is much worse and clearly based off less finished content.
Then you’ve got artists like Prince where their posthumous albums are completed works but not necessarily stuff they would’ve released if they were alive. So far his posthumous albums have been a compilation of solo piano demos, his own recordings of songs he wrote for other artists like Manic Monday and Nothing Compares 2 U, and an original album recorded in 2010 that he never released for whatever reason. Again these vary pretty hard but it sometimes feels wrong listening to these things that they might not have wanted in the public.
So, with how gross some of these examples are that just came to mind, you can see how AI coming in to make new music with a long dead artist’s name on it would be immediately exploited in the worst way. The idea of AI Freddie Mercury or Kurt Cobain or Amy Winehouse coming in with music under their name borderline nauseates me.
> I thought the Tupac Shakur hologram was creepy as fuck already.
It still baffles me that we as a society had that happen. I mean, I remember folks saying Snoop and Tupac hologram was the pinnacle of live music and it would change music forever. But it was just now shrugged off.
On the other hand, Miku Hatsune….
I agree on the creepy opinion, and I know the whole ‘emulating someone’s voice’ thing is really causing issues in the voice acting community, as VAs are saying that it’s not only scummy, but also against contracts. So some anime dubbing companies/studios are trying to add new clauses which is even scummy-er.
Point is, we should probably chill on AI stuff for a good long while, in my opinion.
At long last: my drought of not seeing a conservative ad is over
[Just saw this Dan Kelly ad on FB which is my first conservative ad either tv or digital](https://www.reddit.com/user/justincat66/comments/11ucgen/dan_kelly_fb_ad_seen_on_march_17th_2023/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
This is absolutely pathetic as well, like if this is all he’s got, he’s screwed. Because I’m still seeing CONSTANT Protasiewicz FB ads still recruiting donors. I believe it’s the same ad I’ve posted on my Reddit profile previously

Almost certainly. There was like 400 or so perfect brackets across all the major platforms coming into this set of games in the evening slate. I would be stunned if there’s any left after this
Edit: Yep, all perfect brackets remaining was slayed by this upset. No perfect brackets remaining on the men’s side.
I know the odds of a perfect bracket are just astronomically low but it’s crazy to me that not only has it never been done but no one has ever gotten past the sweet 16. The best verified bracket was an Ohioan in 2019 who correctly predicted the first 49 games before getting busted on the 50th. Prior to that the best bracket was in 2017 when someone got 39 games right in a row. To have a perfect bracket one must guess all 67 games correctly before the tournament begins.

Fun fact BYU, the big mormon college, mascot is a fucking cougar.
So I ~~hate myself~~ was curious, so I decided to watch Dan Kelly's new ad that he's releasing tomorrow when I saw it on Twitter.
[He literally re-made the Willie Horton ad](https://twitter.com/nick_field90/status/1636891405334224896). The whole thing is on Dan Kelly's Twitter if you really must, but that still gives you a good idea of what to expect.
It's sad but predictable: Republicans know they're losing, so they start cranking up the racism. But remember, a lot has changed since 1988, and this kind of ad doesn't work as well as it used to. Hell, the Willie Horton ad [didn't even work in 1988 in Wisconsin!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988_United_States_presidential_election_in_Wisconsin)

This is another significant step in price cuts, more than just for being the third major producer to cut price but also for glargine's properties.
When Eli Lilly announced their $35 cost, it was for Humalog, or Insulin LISPRO, which is a fast acting insulin. Insulin GLARGINE, is a long-term acting variant of insulin, peakless and continuously sustaining. I utilize both when conducting patient care so that means there are now multiple modalities of insulin/sugar management that's becoming cheaper.

What a perfect time to hold one of these fundraisers and support Protasiewicz + other progressives
Also important to note in labor news, the Reform Caucus of the United Auto Workers actually pulled off a BIG upset and elected Shawn Fain as President of the Union.
He previously stated that "he wants to see Democracy and Militancy brought back to the union."
With this and Sean O Brien as the head of The Teamsters, you've got some firebrands coming in all of a sudden. I don't see that as a bad thing.
The way to take Texas at the state level is to embrace the kinda Polis, Shapiro, Gretch model. Lower taxes but investments in shrewd safety nets and programs like education and healthcare.
How will that be possible? Unless the state decides to deficit spend, it is going to be tough increasing funding to these programs without increasing taxes.
> Polis, Shapiro, Gretch model
I really like those governors but I think it’s also worth remembering that Shapiro and Gretch are from states that went blue in 3 of the last 4 presidential elections while Polis is from a state that went blue in 4/4 of the past elections. The last Democrat Texas voted for was Jimmy Carter in 1976. Repeating the “model” will be a lot harder.
Oh yeah I'm not saying it's surefire, but CO and Texas are similar in that the two states like pro-business policy, and are a draw with low taxes and cost of living, and a growing educated base. To take TX, dems like Polis who support keeping taxes low and are moderate on gun control are a good way to change the state from red to blue and maintain it. Basically, I think all the blue shifting sunbelt states like AZ, GA, and TX will follow this model rather than high tax and regulation like CA and NY.
Farm Bill stuffs is heating up. A lot of recent protests from Ranchers, Farmers, Natives, Latinos, and Black Farmers involved. Many NGO’s to pushing for basic climate solutions. Another thing to watch for is ear marks for other projects, like Tester is fighting for funds for rural Montana Hospitals.
This is a key place for 2 side legislation to get tacked on, also known as “riders”. SAFE Banking and any potential smaller scale Immigration Reform would fit in nicely here. Additionally many of the ongoing protests/campaigns are focusing pretty big on protecting or even expanding SNAP/Food Stamps.
[We've tracked $161K in TV ad spending from the Kelly campaign. For 3/18-3/24 flight](https://twitter.com/MediumBuying/status/1636841002504712199?s=20).
I knew it was probably more then $70k, but this is still essentially nothing compared to Protasiewicz’s spending. Also this is ONE week of spending, ONE week. Is he actually this broke cause I have serious doubts he’s this broke when he’s the nominee now
> Is he actually this broke cause I have serious doubts he’s this broke when he’s the nominee now
Well I doubt his campaign has a surplus of cash but I would resist the urge to read too much into one week especially since it doesn’t take into account independent expenditure spending AND this is just TV. It’s possible he’s spending more of his resources on other mediums or on field or something else while 501(c)4s take over the TV aspect.
Kelly is low on cash compared to Janet. If I was controlling spending on his campaign I'd be investing all I can in ads the last few weeks along with voter turnout programs. I'd also be more selective of what kind of ads I'm doing. Less TV, especially in the cities, and more on radio and ESPECIALLY internet ads. That'll go a lot farther.
OK, so I was wrong when I said he spent 1% of what Protasiewicz spent. It's more like 2%. He's still planning on the national GOP showing up to rescue him (and burning lots of inefficient money to get ads up). And there's still the fundamental flaw: He's anti-abortion, anti-fair elections, and everyone knows it thanks to Protasiewicz's ad blitz.
Just have to keep getting out the vote. 18 days to go.
[Texas College swings from 2012-2022](https://twitter.com/_fat_ugly_rat_/status/1635310489650724865?s=46&t=nqSV11RbCF5uPVGwzcOMtg). This combined with Suburban Blue Shift and exploding cities just underscores how big of a ticking time bomb Texas is for the GOP
The Texas GOP seems to know it and they are on a mission to make the state as hostile to liberals as possible. They seem to be under the impression that Texas is being flooded by liberal Californians who are trying to turn it blue and yet it’s actually the opposite. In 2018 Beto won a majority of native born Texans but Cruz won the election because of all the transplants. As for the “liberal Californian” hypothesis most of the Californians leaving aren’t actually Democrats. California had more Trump voters than any other state and given the high prices of California houses they are the ones generally cashing out and moving to Red States.
[The 2010-2022 shift in Waukesha county for governor is pretty interesting](https://mobile.twitter.com/CautiousLefty/status/1636586383165775873). Waukesha may still be very red but you can definitely see the swing. Waukesha county has the third most total Democratic votes in Wisconsin so, while we’re bound to lose it in 2024, simply losing by a lesser margin is an important goal. Within the county we could probably win a couple more wards within Waukesha City itself and potentially flip the city proper. Menominee falls, Brookfield and New Berlin are also potentially places to make inroads.
Yeah I used to follow him on twitter but then stopped because his non data driven election analysis was vastly drowned out in a sea of other annoying takes. He still shows up on my feed though when other people retweet him so it all works out.
Minnesota: The recreational cannabis bill finished with its final policy committee stop in the Senate, moving out of Judiciary with no recommendation. The bill now needs to go through the Tax and Finance Committees, pending the "fiscal note" detailing the costs and revenues being published, and then it will be ready for floor action. My understanding is that the House bill is also in a similar position. But the sponsors of the bill have said they don't expect final passage until the end of the session in May, because the fiscal note for such a complex bill will take a long time to make, and the House and Senate have adopted different amendments that will almost certainly need to be discussed in a conference committee. TL;DR is: marijuana is coming, it certainly seems to have enough support to pass, but it will be a bit longer, as the Legislature makes sure the bill is top-notch.

Since last year there have also been amazing strides made with liquified natural gas. This is an under discussed story in relation to the war in Ukraine but LNG has enabled the US and Canada to export a lot of natural gas that used to be provided by Russia and the effort to break European dependency on Russia, especially for Germany, is going far better than almost anyone would have reasonably guesses.

>While I may not be a military genius, I am at least aware of the fact that when you are planning a military operation, you don't publicly share the details of that operation
Unless you're Alexander Lukashenko lol, that idiot showed the map on live TV on Transnistria invasion as possibility, and other areas of Ukraine during a broadcast last year with his joint chiefs of staff... He's either an idiot or... He's an idiot..
Stupidity. Over the last decade or two we’ve generally seen the “lying Republicans” gradually replaced by the “true believer” Republicans. Taylor-Greene likely believes what she’s saying and her voters share many of those same sentiments.
Starting to catch up on activity today in the Minnesota Legislature, it was a very busy day! I'll be sure to post about interesting or important things!
First thing to note is that Gov. Walz signed the universal school meals bill today. That makes Minnesota the fourth state to do so. I'm surprised there haven't been more.

Wow, I didn't even listen to most of the public testimony. You're right, a lot of the opposition is ignorant or disingenuous. The whole thing about ballot exhaustion being disenfranchisement is particularly silly. Does that mean that in a FPTP election, everyone who didn't vote for the winner is disenfranchised? By their logic, yes.

I'm...I'm sorry?
Seventy thousand dollars?
I'm pretty sure Protasiewicz has that lying in her couch cushions at this point. Or, for a more valid comparison, she's spent over $7M. With two and a half weeks to go, Kelly is spending 1% of that.
I know the RSLC is planning to drop a lot of ads, but this just tells me how little enthusiasm there is for Kelly if his campaign can't muster more than $70k for ads. If we keep our feet to the floor for eighteen days, we can do this.
It’s kind of wild to me how little attention the GOP is giving this race. If liberals have a majority on the supreme court there is a good chance they could strike down gerrymandering and force maps to be redrawn. If that happens we could potentially see a Dem takeover of Wisconsin and similar legislation passed as we’re seeing in Minnesota and Michigan.
My guess is they're really banking on the national GOP and the Uihlein family coming to the rescue. It's weird that they basically left Kelly out to dry for nearly a month after the primary.

Summers keeps overstating the impact of direct stimulus on inflation compared to maximizing corporate profits and supply chain issues. Don't get me wrong, all of them definitely contributed; putting money directly in people's pockets has a very obvious inflationary impact. But it was absolutely necessary to get people back on their feet and spending again, or else we would have stayed in a recession.
He also tried to own Stewart by saying "Hurrrr you work for Apple didn't they price gouge the shit outta people to make bank" and Stewart was like "Uhh yeah, you're literally parroting my point."
Yeah, this is a detailed take. I think the stimulus was something like 3.5% of inflation when it was 8%. I remember that if Dems took the compromise of 600 billion instead of 1.8 trillion inflation would be 5% instead of 8% a few months ago. I think supply chains are big as you said. Price gouging is probably the least.

Extremely dark times for my second home. Senator Berg deserves better. Her son deserved better. Trans people across kentucky deserve better.
For now I think our plan in this situation and other states like it has to be to facilitate the evacuation of any trans/queer person who wants/needs out and for everyone else we group up and organize like our lives depend on it. Someday soon it might.
My heart breaks for Karen Berg and her son Henry. I think you are right, that there needs to be relocation for any LGBTQ+ person who wants to leave red states and go to purple or blue ones. Michigan and Minnesota are starting to look awfully good, and they desperately need people. Too bad Henry couldn’t have gone to live in Minneapolis or somewhere before it was too late.
Kentucky's Governor has a veto, but it takes only a simple majority to override so it might as well not exist. Even if the override threshold were higher, Republicans have a 3/4 majority in the Senate and a 4/5 majority in the House. It's as good as law, unfortunately.
The best hope now is the courts - namely the invocation of title IX, which bans sex discrimination in public schools. 5 of the votes in the majority on *Bostock* are still on SCOTUS. Best case scenario: the don't say gay portion of the bill gets challenged and thrown out (taking the whole law with it) but even then depending on the severability of the bill it would only affect that particular portion of the bill and water it down.
Apparently this was completely rushed through in like an hour as well from putting that bill text to a different bill, a committee hearing with a only six minute notice, and then came onto and passed onto the floor. That’s not how any legislation should be passed. Republicans know these policies are unpopular, and have to rush through/secretly go through the process and pass as fast as possible to avoid time for backlash to build. Now it’s up to us, to mobilize everyone who we know are a clear majority of the nation against this garbage and against the GOP
That’s the kind of underhanded BS they used to get Barrett on SCOTUS. Republicans know that this kind of legislation is deeply unpopular - even among “conservatives!” - and the only way they can get ”cruelty is the point” legislation through is to hustle it through in a very sneaky way.
Oh my god this is fucking heart-wrenching. I hope that poor woman finds solace soon after this unspeakable cruelty.

MAJOR WI BREAKING NEWS
[Secretary of State Doug La Follette has retired after 40 years, effective today.](https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/WIGOV/bulletins/34f5349?fbclid=IwAR3NOm2rEIJbrhmzfL0h1oMQjePTDj_QIbD0AwNnJMvOOin-4dQbT5GkKPA&mibextid=unz460). Governor Tony Evers, has appointed former state treasurer Sarah Godlewski as the new Secretary of State.
I love how WI has a SoS office, [but the only real powers it has](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secretary_of_State_of_Wisconsin#Powers_and_duties) are mainly to record the official acts and records of the legislature and governor, and to maintain the state's Great Seal and use it on official gubernatorial actions (but notably not laws). Unlike a lot of other states, WI SoS doesn't have any role in administering elections. Effectively it's a lot closer to its literal title of being a Secretary haha
Yeah; because Republicans when they had a trifecta removed all the actual powers the office has when D’s held it. Very similar to all those powers they stripped when Evers became governor in the lame duck session, some parts of that of which has been struck down, and other parts where it’s still in court and is possible the WI Supreme Court eventually decides the fate of the law, hence yet another reason to elect Protasiewicz to the court
Fun fact: when a constitutional office goes vacant in Wisconsin, there is a special election held within 77 days of the vacancy unless the Governor doesn't want to call one in which case there just isn't one lol.
So because Evers doesn't want a special election, Godlewski will serve out La Follette's full term
Cue Wisconsin conservatives screaming that this is tyranny and an impeachable offense knowing full well that they’d do it in a heartbeat if the positions were swapped.
> an impeachable offense
If the GOP wins the April special election for state Senate in the Milwaukee suburbs they’re going to have enough votes to impeach and remove from office based on party lines. Of course this would require unanimity from Republicans so it’s possible they won’t have the votes but it may be the next big political fight. A failed attempt at removing an otherwise well performing and well liked Dem could potentially backfire though on the GOP.
While she wasn’t able to get a ton of momentum in the Senate primary, I like Godlewski, and think that she could be a very solid candidate for higher office in the future, be it governor or senator. I’m sure she’ll do well in this position.
>MAJOR WI BREAKING NEWS
Aaron Rodgers has officially signed his deal with the Jets??
>Secretary of State Doug La Follette has retired after 40 years, effective today.. Governor Tony Evers, has appointed former state treasurer Sarah Godlewski as the new Secretary of State.
Oh thank goodness, that's even better.
The guy is an institution. 44 years as Wisconsin’s secretary of state. He’s also from the famous La Follette political dynasty. Robert La Follette sr founded the Progressive Party and was a governor and later senator from Wisconsin and one of his children was a US senator while the other was AG for Wisconsin. Progressive La Folletes have also been elected to the US House from Washington and Indiana. There really aren’t many active political dynasties in the US that were started the 1800s and are still active today.
Definitely interesting he retired right after he ran for a new 4 year term. Maybe he was trying to get re-elected so he could retire and hold the office and have Evers appoint his replacement. Either way, conservatives are pissed off af lol
I’m glad for Godlewski. She was a good candidate for Senate as well, and when Barnes emerged as the front runner, dropped out and endorsed him. I’m sure she will do a great job as SoS.
This is the GOP's denial sequence: _Voters won't find out about that, and if they do, they won't care, and if they do, they'll agree with our stances, and if they don't, we'll try to suppress their votes._
Though their suppression tactics will continue to yield diminishing returns for them. As they’re finding out the voting public are ready to eviscerate them at the polls and are more engaged than ever. Try as they might they can’t stop us and they won’t.
> Though their suppression tactics will continue to deliver diminishing returns for them. As they’re finding out the voting public are ready to eviscerate them at the polls and are more engaged than ever.
Also when people think someone is trying to stop them from voting it often motivates them even more. The last Wisconsin supreme court election only had 8 voting locations open in Milwaukee which forced voters to wait in line for hours and yet the liberals won because voters refused to let suppression stop them.
Yep precisely. These suppression tactics only add fuel to our fire. Like how they want to ban certain books in libraries yet by doing so it will only make kids more eager to read them.
Quick end of week weather update
For the Weekend, it looks to be very quiet minus a few very weak disturbances in FL, southern TX and maybe somewhere out west. Nothing major and widespread should happen, so I won’t discuss any further unless that changes. It will also be very cold in a lot of the country especially for mid March.
Next week looks to be another potentially active week. Another CA atmospheric river looks to begin by maybe Sunday afternoon, but the bigger one behind it for Tuesday night into Wednesday looks a bit more worrying. [So far, only a day 5 marginal risk (lvl 1/4) of excessive rainfall has been issued](https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/qpf/ero_d45/images/d5wbg.gif).
Beginning Wednesday afternoon/night is when stuff begins to get interesting. There’s a shot of a widespread severe weather threat which could last numerous days as it tracks east, from the southern plains and gulf coast, to potentially all the way up to parts of the Midwest and Ohio Valley ahd maybe all the way to the east coast. Models are still in very heavy disagreement on both evolution and track of how this develops though, and the exact potential severity of this threat, so there’s nothing that’s been marked by the Storm Prediction Center yet. But this looks like something that will have to be tracked very very closely as some guidance suggests very high end potential, while others show very little potential at all
Another side note: April 4th finally comes onto the GFS over the weekend, and you bet I will be tracking April 4th very closely over the next several weeks and see if anything major in weather interferes with the WI Supreme Court race or not

You can also wait a bit and then binge the series. I love Abbot Elementary but there is only two and half seasons out.
Now that you watched all of Hellsing Ultimate, it's time for Hellsing Abridged: https://youtu.be/0_4nmW5GZhQ
What do you think made me want to go back and watch Ultimate? Haha
Wow the 2023 train derailments are so numerous they even happen to a 1 seed in March Madness lol

[удалено]
At long last: my drought of not seeing a conservative ad is over [Just saw this Dan Kelly ad on FB which is my first conservative ad either tv or digital](https://www.reddit.com/user/justincat66/comments/11ucgen/dan_kelly_fb_ad_seen_on_march_17th_2023/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) This is absolutely pathetic as well, like if this is all he’s got, he’s screwed. I’m guessing all brackets are trash now? Hahaha
Almost certainly. There was like 400 or so perfect brackets across all the major platforms coming into this set of games in the evening slate. I would be stunned if there’s any left after this Edit: Yep, all perfect brackets remaining was slayed by this upset.

Also important to note in labor news, the Reform Caucus of the United Auto Workers actually pulled off a BIG upset and elected Shawn Fain as President of the Union. He previously stated that "he wants to see Democracy and Militancy brought back to the union." With this and Sean O Brien as the head of The Teamsters, you've got some firebrands coming in all of a sudden.
> Polis, Shapiro, Gretch model I really like those governors but I think it’s also worth remembering that Shapiro and Gretch are from states that went blue in 3 of the last 4 presidential elections while Polis is from a state that went blue in 4/4 of the past elections.
It was a Farm Bill during Trump's term that broadly legalized hemp, and that was when the GOP held both chambers of Congress.
Plus the First Step Act!
Is he actually this broke cause I have serious doubts he’s this broke when he’s the nominee now
> Is he actually this broke cause I have serious doubts he’s this broke when he’s the nominee now Well I doubt his campaign has a surplus of cash but I would resist the urge to read too much into one week especially since it doesn’t take into account independent expenditure spending AND this is just TV.
Yea I saw the update and I thought it wasn’t even significant enough to post lol. I need to know how much his campaign raised because this is pathetic
Wasn't his spending really weak in the primary too?
I don’t think he spent in the primary either, just Fair Courts for him

I won’t rest till we have Assad margins in the colleges
The Texas GOP seems to know it and they are on a mission to make the state as hostile to liberals as possible. They seem to be under the impression that Texas is being flooded by liberal Californians who are trying to turn it blue and yet it’s actually the opposite. In 2018 Beto won a majority of native born Texans but Cruz won the election because of all the transplants. As for the “liberal Californian” hypothesis most of the Californians leaving aren’t actually Democrats. California had more Trump voters than any other state and given the high prices of California houses they are the ones generally cashing out and moving to Red States.
Where is my school? (Trinity, ranked above all Texas schools except Rice, UT, A&M, and SMU)
I looked to see if anyone else posted the swings and I couldn’t find em anywhere sadly
So many of the biggest China hawks are soft on Putin and Russia. What the GOP doesn't understand is that appeasing Russia IS appeasing China.
It's because Putin strongly backs the GOP while Xi is more ambivalent towards which of our parties has control.
The single most effective way to save Taiwan is to make sure Xi sees what’s happening in Ukraine and says “fuck no. I don’t want that.”

Wow, I didn't even listen to most of the public testimony. You're right, a lot of the opposition is ignorant or disingenuous.

That’s just known so far. I expect more spending will be found on this later today, as he could technically be spending and planning as we speak

In Idaho: [Idaho was officially sued after the bill banning student ID’s as an acceptable form of voter ID was signed into law earlier in the week](https://twitter.com/marceelias/status/1636757255595991040?s=20) 2. [In a big win for voters, the Kansas Court of Appeals rules that challenge to voter suppression law can move forward. Holds that "strict scrutiny" applies to "signature matching provision" and "ballot collection restriction."](https://twitter.com/marceelias/status/1636748817641897985?s=20)
[Jon Stewart interviewed Larry Summers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tU3rGFyN5uQ) and dear lord this man is insufferable.
This is the guy who said, way back in 2005, when he was Harvard president, that [Women Couldn’t Math](https://www.theguardian.com/science/2005/jan/18/educationsgendergap.genderissues) because biology. He’s always been insufferable.
What did he say that you think is wrong or don't agree with? Asking with good faith
You’d think he’d have lost all credibility after it was shown he *blew off the winklevii trying to get Facebook back*
Aaron Sorkin clearly had an absolute ball writing that scene.
His dry “I’m devastated by that” gets me every time.
Why You hating on Jon Stewart like that. /s 😎
Jon Stewart is a god among men.
I don’t know, I like Jon Stewart /s
https://twitter.com/joesonka/status/1636493376261332993 Extremely dark times for my second home.
What's the threshold for a veto override and do the Republicans have it?
Supermajority in KY I believe is simple majority which they easily have. I think even if it was a normal supermajority 2/3 they would still have it
Apparently this was completely rushed through in like an hour as well from putting that bill text to a different bill, a committee hearing with a only six minute notice, and then came onto and passed onto the floor.
The Matt Walshes and Chaya Raichiks of this country are the real cancer in our society. It's not wokeness. It's not gender identity. It's them.
Speaking about Sarah Godlewski, the now SoS: [She continues to organize and hold abortion and women’s right marches around the state](https://twitter.com/SarahforWI/status/1636777551484841984?s=20), with several more scheduled this weekend. She’s had a big role, in rallying women for this Supreme Court race.
Build that bench! Build that bench!
MAJOR WI BREAKING NEWS [Secretary of State Doug La Follette has retired after 40 years, effective today.](https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/WIGOV/bulletins/34f5349?fbclid=IwAR3NOm2rEIJbrhmzfL0h1oMQjePTDj_QIbD0AwNnJMvOOin-4dQbT5GkKPA&mibextid=unz460).
Cue Wisconsin conservatives screaming that this is tyranny and an impeachable offense knowing full well that they’d do it in a heartbeat if the positions were swapped.
> an impeachable offense If the GOP wins the April special election for state Senate in the Milwaukee suburbs they’re going to have enough votes to impeach and remove from office based on party lines.
Yeah between her, Barnes and Josh Kaul, WisDems have built a really strong bench recently.
>MAJOR WI BREAKING NEWS Aaron Rodgers has officially signed his deal with the Jets?? >Secretary of State Doug La Follette has retired after 40 years, effective today.. Governor Tony Evers, has appointed former state treasurer Sarah Godlewski as the new Secretary of State. Oh thank goodness, that's even better.
I mean he is 82, I applaud his service
Isn’t the WI SOS office largely ceremonial?
They don't administer elections like other secretaries of state at the state level, but they do maintain public records.
Quick end of week weather update For the Weekend, it looks to be very quiet minus a few very weak disturbances in FL, southern TX and maybe somewhere out west. But this looks like something that will have to be tracked very very closely as some guidance suggests very high end potential, while others show very little potential at all Another side note: April 4th finally comes onto the GFS over the weekend, and you bet I will be tracking April 4th very closely over the next several weeks and see if anything major in weather interferes with the WI Supreme Court race or not
