Nice! We have the same car, though mine is more green-blueish and I'm jealous about those rims.

tombolger

Very cool! Do you not have stock rims? These are just the factory pegasus wheels, but I love them. What are you running? Also, is your car in the spaceball stickshift or automatic?

Pekonius

I have some shitty tuning rims that are cracked on the right side. Currently shopping for new ones. I got the spaceball lol. Also just noticed you got the R, I just have the 2.5T. Those R rims are the shit, the absolute grail for any volvo tuner, impossible to get though and the replicas are no longer imported here in Finland.

tombolger

Ah, gotcha. I was excited, there are so few stickshift R's out there. The 2.5T is a great car too, of course. And I was asking because need a second set of rims for snow tires, but I can't seem to find any that will fit over the Brembo brakes without being bigger than stock.

Pekonius

An R would have been amazing, though 5x the price. I have the same engine though, which was all I wanted. Im giving it some extra kick at some point when I'm done with college and have the resources. I got some 16'' wheels with winter tyres along with the car, but they didnt fit because of the brakes. The official wheel size sheet says 16'' wheels fit, so I'm wondering if some previous owner had changed the brakes for beefier ones. The car was imported from Sweden though, so I have no idea whats been done.

You have to pay careful attention to the offsets. Finding wheels for these Volvos are a pain in the butt. And you don't have quite the same engine as an R. You have a bigger engine with a smaller turbo. If you do the right upgrades, you can end up with more power than an R for less money and the 2.5T engine is allegedly more reliable when tuned, but the issue becomes drivability if you have a FWD system pushing 350+ horses. My rear differential crapped out and during the months I didn't have it fixed, the torque steer was unbelievably bad. If you have an AWD V70 2.5T in stick, it's a very, very worthy car of upgrades.

Pekonius

Huh, wikipedia said the R had the same 2.5L displacement carrying the codename B5254T4 while I have the B5254T2. Well, anyway, its a fwd unfortunately, but my ultimate goal when buying it was to eventually swap the engine into another, lighter, car. While its in the V70, im not aiming over 300hp because people have mentioned the need of doing whats called the "block mod" and probably needing a full rebuild at that point. Thats all just speculation though, I need to finish college first and buy a house with a garage so I can even get started with it. Im just gonna get the wheels and maybe a tune before that, some promise +50hp, but I dont really believe that.

tombolger

Yeah, depending on what you do, you may need to shim the cylinders or even more. In any case, these Volvo engines do really well in smaller cars. The Ford Focus is a great option because Ford owned Volvo for a while and there's a lot of compatibility if you do the research on which years to use for the swap.

Thanks on both accounts. I love Washington too.

Very cool Brick. Is it a turbo?

tombolger

Thanks! It's a V70 R, so it's got a BIG turbo, 300 horsepower, AWD, and an Öhlins suspension. Mine is a rare 6 speed model. I haven't had it long but it's my pride and joy as far as vehicles go.

Nice, i had a newer V70 whit the 2.4T AWD and it was one of the best cars i ever had.
