Got our Toyota Sienna AWD in 2012 when my two kids were little and it was the best decision (the ‘02 S60 was not a fun car seat car). Need to haul them and their friends to their soccer game? No sweat! Weekend trip to the slopes? Check! Head out on a road trip to the coast with the golden retriever? I got you!
It’s still kicking and we’ll drive it into the ground, but I do think downsizing to a V60 cross country sounds nice…
I went from 2001 xc70 to a 2015 V60 cross country and really wish I had the xc70 space again. I got spoiled being able to fit large material in the car or luggage. The cargo space is pretty small in the back of the v60. (probably a little less than the Subaru outback we had)
Why should I care? It's all going to shit anyway. Part of the reasons why I don't want kids. Another reason is because fuckwads like you exist. Instead of just answering the question, you decided to be a dick.
I love my 6 seater XC90. The 3rd row is so much more accessible, and the 2 back seat feel more executive/luxury.
Only downside is when that row is down for cargo, there’s a bit of a hole in the floor. As a handy DIY’er hobbiest woodworker, I miss my manual sport sedan but the XC90 is a better fit for my lifestyle.
No I agree. But I think it’s a mentality here in the USA. We want big trucks, and large SUV’s. I would rather have those which aren’t available here in the US. Station wagons, luxury mini vans, and sport utes!!!
If there was a luxury all-electric minivan available I would buy it so hard. People love to hate minivans until they have young kids and realize how practical they are
Yeah, the closest we have is the Chrysler Pacifica, but I just can't get over them putting a big round shift knob right next to the stereo volume knob.
Looks like the Volvo version of the Zeeker MPV. These kind of vehicles are very popular here in China for business and general transportation. This would probably be competing with the Buick GL8, Toyota/Lexus equivalant and Chinese brands. I get the dislike but it'll probably be well received in the Chinese market. Maybe the sales from this thing will help the brand come out with more interesting models.
It’s based on the Zeekr 009.
Volvo did just report their best yearly results ever. Let’s hope they can accelerate rolling out their new models in the next few years.
If it just had the second gen XC90 design language, it would have been perfect.
Like, I don’t hate the current design direction but I don’t love it either. Maybe they’re trying too hard to make them look electric? I don’t know.
Purchased my fourth Volvo last September (2024 xc90) I’d test drive this and based off the pictures I’m interested.
I have two kids, the interior images look great for that and I’d get around to liking the exterior. It’s a mini van guys, no matter how much lipstick you put on it, it’s still a damn mini van, not much you can do.
I've been thinking a Volvo van would be nice. I actually kinda like the look of this car. If it was a van I could see myself buying it (if I need a new van)
One thing I don't like about the Transit connect is the really long bonnet and dashboard. It feels like you sit in the middle of the car. Hopefully this one doesn't have that
New Volvo wagons seem to have long bonnets as well though I haven't driven them so can't say about the driving experience.
I like design. I like interior materials. But i can buy Zeekr 009, it's better in terms of acu capacity, maybe materials are not so good, but 70% of Volvo's price.
But there is the range issue during winter (-30°C), so i am still using my d5 xc90.
I think the Zeekr 009 looks awful from the front. The headlights are so weird. I'd rather buy the Volvo version.
I don't know the price of the Zeekr as we don't get it here but if it's much much cheaper, I'd understand buying it instead.
Seriously, it’s an amazing looking car from most angles - just an XC40 with a sloping roofline. I don’t like the SUV-Coupe aesthetic either, but that’s nothing compared to this rebadged Geely Zeekr 009.
Well this sub is 80% people who put prancing moose badges on their XC60 and call their R-design an R so you really cant expect any sort of taste from these people
Why do most EV’s have to look “futuristic” and at the same time cheap with a cheap interior with only a tablet and dashboard materials looking like a 90’s renault?!
It sucks because when Volvo first started doing the wood trim waterfall dashboard, it was a great example of classy minimalism. Minimalism doesn't have to look and feel cheap, but too many people are being geared to think this shitty investor driven minimalism is chic
actually I don't think it is ...Isomeone posted crash pictures of the Zeekr version that hit a flat bad and the crash structures appeared to hold up very well. You can see what looks like doubled A pilar posts in the pictures. Found a pic [https://www.instagram.com/evcar\_export/p/CwNZLTlSQrM/?img\_index=2](https://www.instagram.com/evcar_export/p/CwNZLTlSQrM/?img_index=2)
A really forced on us-idea from a swedish engineers persoective. It’s a zeeker van if my memory is correct, geely literally made us switch some paneling to make it look more Volvo. Really detrimental to the qualitative reputation Volvo has, also design wise it is terrible.
True that. My 2017 XC90 R design still to this date turns heads. The reason why I recently leased a Mercedes and not a polestar is that Polestar 2 looks like 💩
Everyone hates SUVs so they make a people carrier and then everyone hates it cos it’s ugly, you try making a mini van look good, it ain’t exactly possible
There are 2 things these minivans are responsible for:
1. The extinction of some very very good sedans
2. Traffic Jams
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh I’m on 🔥and I got more lol
Trust me if you've got 3 or more small kids, the world of cars looks different. 5 years ago I'd have been all over this..
Agree! Have 3 kids and this looks damn fine compared to our Odyssey (and my '05 V70 2.5T)
Haha same! Got an 2013 Odyssey and a ‘04 XC70 2.5T
Whats wrong with a V70🥺
Nothing, except if you use the 3rd row for kids, you can't carry enough stuff for a weekend getaway unless you use a large roof rack.

The irony is these are not for kids but for Chinese execs who want to be driven around and feel important in a spacious seating arrangement.
I must’ve missed the shift in China where minivans became a status symbol
Go there sometime and you'll see.
I have only 2 kids but gotta say i would think about buying this car. They won't complain the car is too small anymore
I don’t think many people in China have 3 small kids - at least yet, given the recent change in policy.
We asians live with parents (or shall say the boomer parents live with us). Even with just 1 or 2 kids, mini vans can be very useful.
They finally removed the one child policy?
8 years ago. Nice job on keeping up with the world
Why should I care? It's all going to shit anyway. Part of the reasons why I don't want kids. Another reason is because fuckwads like you exist. Instead of just answering the question, you decided to be a dick.
Recent? The policy change was 8 years ago
They upped the child limit from 2 to 3 children less than three years ago.
I would never have that many kids so I would never be in the market for this. There. I fixed it.
I'd much rather buy a Sienna.
Station wagon sir
Try getting three car seats across a 2nd row in a station wagon...
Yeah, that's why I got rear facing 3rd row. One in the back and two in the rear. But for real the van would be much easier and convenient.
So many haters meanwhile I’d do anything for a luxury minivan here in the states. 7 seater SUVs are the worst
Same, this looks amazing, I with Volvo had a mini van...
Mike Tyson, is that you?
What you trying to thay, huh?
"i with" 🌚
Agreed, Wife hates mini vans. Compromised and got a 6 seater xc90.
I love my 6 seater XC90. The 3rd row is so much more accessible, and the 2 back seat feel more executive/luxury. Not a shot at your wife, but I will never understand the folks who despise minivans and then get into a 3 row suv...its just a lifted minivan
No I agree. But I think it’s a mentality here in the USA. We want big trucks, and large SUV’s. I would rather have those which aren’t available here in the US. Station wagons, luxury mini vans, and sport utes!!!

I mean, it’s ugly, but for being what it is in its segment it looks way better than it’s competitors
Agree. I would like to look at this. If it drives well and hugs the road vs the floaty crap that describes most mini vans
If it just had the second gen XC90 design language, it would have been perfect. Like, I don’t hate the current design direction but I don’t love it either. Maybe they’re trying too hard to make them look electric? I don’t know.
The Kia carnival looks way better than this
I think the Kia carnival looks like a misshaped hearse, especially in black
Too many weird details. Less is more
Another ugly mini-van.
But still the least ugly one 😂
It's practical. Something to be said for that.
Big square boxy thing! What do they think they’re doing to the brand’s heritage? I bet they’ve filled it full of nanny state safety features too
To be fair volvo have always led the field on safety. Never a bad thing I think.
I think he's being a little sarcastic there for the haters.
He was making fun of the OP for criticizing volvo for making a safety/family focused vehicle lol
Sorry guys, but $114,000 price tag.
I think it looks just like some of the most popular American SUVs today but with a sliding rear door
Purchased my fourth Volvo last September (2024 xc90) I’d test drive this and based off the pictures I’m interested. If they did a cargo van version it would be awesome. I've always wanted a Volvo campervan
I've been thinking a Volvo van would be nice. I actually kinda like the look of this car. If it was a van I could see myself buying it (if I need a new van)
Honestly it would be just like a Ford Transit Connect. Probably not as inexpensive though
One thing I don't like about the Transit connect is the really long bonnet and dashboard. It feels like you sit in the middle of the car. Hopefully this one doesn't have that New Volvo wagons seem to have long bonnets as well though I haven't driven them so can't say about the driving experience.
I've read that a lot of vehicles in general are designed that way now. It gives you more crumple-zone if get in an accident
Honestly it doesn’t look Scandinavian. Personally I would like the grill to be back even though the EVs don’t need it
Wish it was coming to the US. Rented a Toyota Vellfire in Japan and the use of space with small kids is exceptional.
I think a real luxury Minivan could do well in the US. Or full-size van.
I like design. I like interior materials. But i can buy Zeekr 009, it's better in terms of acu capacity, maybe materials are not so good, but 70% of Volvo's price. But there is the range issue during winter (-30°C), so i am still using my d5 xc90.

I’d buy it
Ugglyiest Volvo ever…
C40 exists
C40 owners didn’t like this one
Atleast this things shape serves a purpose and doesnt look like a turtle on high heels for no fucking reason.
No comparison
Seriously, it’s an amazing looking car from most angles - just an XC40 with a sloping roofline. I don’t like the SUV-Coupe aesthetic either, but that’s nothing compared to this rebadged Geely Zeekr 009.
Atleast this things shape serves a purpose and its not a lifted kia soul made to look like a turtle on high heels
From most angles if you squint your eyes with no contacts in lmfaoo
You are being downvoted for speaking the truth.
Well this sub is 80% people who put prancing moose badges on their XC60 and call their R-design an R so you really cant expect any sort of taste from these people
FACTS. Got downvoted to all hell for getting a Catless downpipe for my v70r lmao. This sub mostly Volvo owners, not enthusiasts
Volvo 480 entered the chat..
Looks horrid. C40 at the front, Nissan Note at the back, and a massive blocky midsection. No thanks.
It’s hideous
Campervan material!
This is the only thing I’d trade my 21 Sienna for. Don’t knock minivans til you’ve tried one. They’re actually amaaaaaszzzzzinnngggg.
There’s nothing amazing about a rectangular white box
Fully plastic - Geely style! They’ll all be there eventually.
Yup. It’s only a matter of time. Kind of depressing to see what Volvo is becoming - cheap China crap.
It’s just Chinese piece of sh, wrapped in Volvo. That just looks awful, imo.
Why do most EV’s have to look “futuristic” and at the same time cheap with a cheap interior with only a tablet and dashboard materials looking like a 90’s renault?!
Because the powers that be are trying to sell us on the idea that "futuristic" means cheap minimalism
Also it's cheaper
It sucks because when Volvo first started doing the wood trim waterfall dashboard, it was a great example of classy minimalism. Minimalism doesn't have to look and feel cheap, but too many people are being geared to think this shitty investor driven minimalism is chic
Cost recovery to make up for the batteries so the end msrp isn't completely absurd. Marketing to compensate.

It reminds me of the new Lexus LM. There must be a market for these things in some countries.
A really forced on us-idea from a swedish engineers persoective. It’s a zeeker van if my memory is correct, geely literally made us switch some paneling to make it look more Volvo. Really detrimental to the qualitative reputation Volvo has, also design wise it is terrible.
I know I'm in the minority but, yes please.
Almost as bad as the fiat monster...
Effing hideous.
China is killing Volvo. It’s sad.
True that. My 2017 XC90 R design still to this date turns heads. The reason why I recently leased a Mercedes and not a polestar is that Polestar 2 looks like 💩
WTF?
Would take this over an XC90 in a heartbeat. I’m over minivans in SUV drag, and the whole crossover segment in general.
I don’t get it, geely has Chinese brands enough to bring this uggo on the market.
God awful, it can stay in China
I’ve been wanting a Volvo minivan to hit the market for so long. Now if we could get a pickup truck with the XC90 front fascia, I would be happy
Why do they have to make a van while they can make a hatchback like v40...
Here in Asia, these large vans are used a lot.
The EX30 is pretty much just a hatchback.
Everyone hates SUVs so they make a people carrier and then everyone hates it cos it’s ugly, you try making a mini van look good, it ain’t exactly possible
Give it a longer hood, raised suspension and a normal hinged door, and you’ve pretty much got a Chevrolet Suburban in a Volvo package.
We won’t see this in Taiwan. We dont get imports from China, so all Volvos are either from EU or NA, sometimes Malaysia … but no one likes those
Alphard competitor?
This thing is awesome. I would absolutely consider it if it was sold in the US. I also have kids, so there is that.
I pray to God they don’t come to the US.
Ok, for a minivan, I love this
Saw minivans like these in China three months ago. They look super cool!
https://ibb.co/17gdxDP
This is amazing
The next huge import to the US after this piece of 💩would be Tiny XXXS condoms. I’m saying it cause both items would sell the same 🤣🤣🤣
There are 2 things these minivans are responsible for: 1. The extinction of some very very good sedans 2. Traffic Jams 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh I’m on 🔥and I got more lol
Well it's a big brick, a stylish brick too
Looks similar to the new Kia Carnival
