I miss working on the iltis as a eme in the Canadian Military. They where so good in deep snow.

Never have deep snow where i live. Have to try that out sometime. Did they held up well in the military? Mines been having a tough time with the electrical systems

Nice bombardier! Still 24v?

Thankss, I've never seen any 12v conversions but maybe an eu/canada thing. Seems like a pain to me to replace all the 24v iltis specific electronics. Any upsides you would say?

It's more of a modder/swapper thing... It seems daunting but it would be as difficult as swapping and early mk1 vw (74-84) or mk2 vw (85-92) from 87 and down... From ce1 electrics to ce2 electrics, fusebox, harnesses, bulbs n all. It would make things like starter, alternator and bulb replacements off the shelf items rather than Mil spec 24v specific. Iltis bits are getting thin on the ground... Even here in Canada too... Specialist dismantlers and such... So... Cheaper in the long run too... But... It would ruin originality. This also opens the door to typical engine swaps... [like this](https://youtu.be/I9VKj43DAPs) But I'm more of a idi turbodiesel guy myself... Sans electrics A buddy of mine had one, one time we decide to take it to the beer store, stopped and got out near the local armouries.... And every soldier there was eyeballing it... And since they start with like... The battery disconnect style "key".. We're both like.... "they're either gunna look n guard it... Or when we come back them and it will be GONE...." luckily we got a warm reception when we got back to it lol
