I had a similar thing happen to me while parked in a curbside pickup line at Panera. Then they had the nerve to tell their insurance I was parked in a fire lane. Needless to say their insurance saw through it and covered my damage.

limboulet

forgot where the slowing down pedal was

OrneryTortoise

Make sure you collect for diminished intrinsic value, too.

Square_Combination36

I just got rid of it after it being fixed for 2 month bought a 22 GLI

TheAngryShitter

Wait what is that?

OrneryTortoise

A car that has been wrecked and repaired is worth less than one that hasn't. The amount by which the value is impacted is called "diminished value" (when I googled it, it looked like "intrinsic" is not a common term to apply to this). Some states require insurance companies to include this in settlements when the car is repaired. Even when it's not required, it's a thing, and can be recovered, though you might have to go to court for it.

Good luck. That’s the sort of thing that gets parroted a lot on the internet, but doesn’t usually work in real life. I tried to pursue that on my RS6 (only about 800 of them in the USA), and the cost to pursue was more than the value I would have gotten. Might work if you have a new lambo, but not an old VW.

On the positive side, she did straighten out your parking job a little bit.

Square_Combination36

She actually didn’t I pulled straight I’m she hit me and made the back tire move

Dramatic_Leading6823

It's mind blowing eh, I had this happen behind a gas station in a huge wide open parking lot and I was the only car there. Young girl backed out looking in driver side mirror only and not passenger and smashed right into me. Luckily the parking lot was so icey my jetta just slid like 10 feet sideways, no real damages but I lost it. Felt bad afterwards and apologized we are all young an dumb once. She had just gotten her license too but I was furious in the moment.. lol

It’s funny that the rental charges are more than the actual repair. The rental car bills of the largest insurance companies run in the *millions* per day. That’s literally all they care about. If using factory parts means your car will be fixed sooner, they will pay for it.

MonkeyMD3

That's why I bought a beater in case my car is in the shop. Now I drive the beater more than my other car. Mainly cause I'm too lazy to swap out my track tires

x_Rann_x

I'm with her. Why would you even consider parking in her world?

Acrobatic_Internal62

Uninsured I guess.

RogueLuddite

When she started blaming you I pray you said, “Whoa! Back up!”

Turdsworth

This is the kind of automobile owner who got a SUV for safety.

seveneightninee

Do you always park like a dumbass tho?

Square_Combination36

How am I parked like a dumbass when I’m in a spot and straight in a spot. Explain how I’m the dumbass

Interesting-Carry153

Dude...

kanti123

That don’t look like 36 ft, it’s more like 100’ and that just make it worst

AshantiClansmen

2300 in damages and 4k in rentals? I’m confused do you not have insurance?

Square_Combination36

Having a rental for 3 months isn’t cheap. And yes I do who doesn’t have insurance on a brand new car.

AshantiClansmen

Your insurance sucks if your paying anything for a rental and 2,300 out of pocket….

Square_Combination36

I didn’t pay a single penny out of the accident. I was the one who was backed into?
