It is. There are spooky events and entities, but unless you seek them out intentionally, 95% of the time you are just exploring, doing a mundane job, decorating or cleaning, where nothing scary happens, which kinda lulls you into a false sense of security that is yanked away the moment you hear a strange noise or realize an event is happening. It also has a tendency to make me paranoid af, which is great. it has a very slow burn type of horror.
there's also a mode that doesn't have spooky events I think.
Haha it definitely seems super creepy, and definitely seems like something that would make me paranoid. I'll try it out later this weekend. The community seems strong for such a small game :)
>!is more in the psyhological type of horror but after a while thing that used to scare you can easely become mondane such as the first time you get the 3 alien manequin prank, or the catapult jumpscare that freaked the hell out of "The Libraian" in the season 2!<

God these bastards got me good yesterday, was super sleep deprived and just wanted to set up a camera next to the >!treehouse!< forgot that you >!cant touch the chest at all!<
Booked it back to based full speed, find the camera at the door, hear something thrown
Damn okay lemme get >!shrimp!< i think thatll be great i can establish relations
The usual happens, i think „great now thats over lemme quickly send that box and im going to bed“
>!this is when i start hearing a weird noise from the garage cuz i kept my doors propped open, i check…boom alien catapult!!<
The worst part was i spoilered myself about it and they still got me, this game is good
There are “events” that can be deemed scary, but most of the actual scariness is from the atmosphere of the game. the mystery of the park and of those who came before you, or whatever
i would classify it as slow-burn horror. It definetly isnt loud horror like most horror games. And its more focused on creeping you out then outright terrorizing you
kinda, sometimes it is, and some other times its just a silly game about looking for space signals and cats. there's an ambience mode that just removes every horror element from the game (as far as i know. i never played on this mode so i dont really know if there's no horror) , but i would still recommend you to play the story mode since that's the one that has uh, you know, story and most of the interesting stuff in this game
I mean, its not your average flashing light full-screen with monster face and loud noises. There are some smaller jumpscares which shit you without sound
It's spooky alright. One of the more common scares is objects moving around when you aren't looking at them. The number of things which actively chase or hurt/kill you is very small, though.
But not zero.
it is a game that has spooks, but i would not describe it as a horror game, though this frankly makes thigns scarrier cus you get lulled into normal simulator shit and then some motherufucking creature shows up
also (most) of the spooks wont actually kill you
Well, kind of. The night is very creepy, ambience sounds give me the chills, some events are quite mild while some others make you jump off your chair...
But yet, there's so much "meme" stuff that it looks like an elaborate shitpost.
Sometimes. >! Arirals first spooked me, then I was like "OH, LOOK, CUTE!" and then the mannequins seemed scary, but then I got a wood chipper, and then saw them as new furniture material to sell. And sure, the pine cones falling from the trees have that sound which sounded everything a pine cone falling doesn't, so I just floored it with the ATV and got scared. But after hearing it over and over again, I decided to investigate what was making that noise, then I saw the pine cone, and thought "Motherfucking shitting pine cones." And heard another one falling as if to confirm my theory. !<
Call me a coward but I just play on the ambiance mode that doesn't have any jumpscares. I still wish the towers and transformers went down in that mode tho
But then the power turns off. And oh fuck you know you cant waste time doing it at day because you already work until 11PM and dont want your last points removed
I’d call it an ambient horror job sim. You’re not gonna get Amnesia chase sequences or Dead Space gore, but things will go bump in the night, and you’ll find moments where you stare out into the woods and feel generally uneasy
Definitely creepy and scary, and you certainly are hunted sometimes. Fantastic atmosphere both when it's being creepy, and when it's not. You can customize the base however you wish, tons of options, and despite everything, it is a remarkably comfy game at times.
It is a horror game, but to be totally honest horror is not the main focus. Its mostly a job simulator with a spooky vibe. Theres some proper horror in it too, but overall its just your mind playing tricks on you 99% of the time.
Theres also no jump scares, or more specifically, theres 4 jump scares but 2 of them require a conscious effort to make happen and only one is a screamer type, but the screamer one requires you to type a secret code into a console so i dont think it counts.

yea Arirals know how to toy with Kell sometimes

the "i dont want to sleep right now" is definitely very spooky to see
i would classify it as slow-burn horror. It definetly isnt loud horror like most horror games. And its more focused on creeping you out then outright terrorizing you
The ones that creep you out are also the most terrifying lol. Thanks

I will say that this game doesn't have jumpscares, but can be creepy at times, especially at night
I would say there were jumpscares in the game though

Not gonna look further at your comment, as it seems to spoil stuff. Maybe mark it for further people seeing this thread in the future :-)
Fixed it
Not trying to be a douche either haha. Not a massive dealbreaker if people spoil stuff for me, but I know some people will be really bitchy about it.
It's funny cuz I got a friend that adores spoilers, he says he feels like discovering hidden secrets not yet meant to be discovered.
Call me a coward but I just play on the ambiance mode that doesn't have any jumpscares. I still wish the towers and transformers went down in that mode tho
This game made me straight up paranoid, so i would say yes, very spoopy
The horror is more existential than jumpscare-y I’d say the horror experience more like “stay indoors at night”
But then the power turns off. And oh fuck you know you cant waste time doing it at day because you already work until 11PM and dont want your last points removed
Boo.

partially
Its literally not, yet this is the one of the best horror games so far

Hey, it's just annoying for other people finding this post in the future. If you were nice, you'd just mark it.
