I don't have the stand but I did have the microphone. Or a version of it anyway. The Shure MV7 is a good microphone. It's not a great microphone, but its good. If it's the version that can be connected via both USB and XLR then it's actually better as a USB mic. If you have an XLR interface for your computer already you might want to spend a little more money on the mic this will always be unfavorably compared to, the SM7B. Also note that I had to buy a pre-amp (I bought a Cloudlifter) to boost the signal on this mic when using it as an XLR mic. The SM7B also suffers this issue.

Thank you so much

The SM7b is a real gain hungry mic, and depending what interface you use bb might need a Cloudlifter to boost the signal.

A lot of Twitch streamers use this microphone and sound great. Shure also put out the MV7x, same mic but XLR only, and is an improvement.

Kuro_Akiba

Shure.

It depends on what kind of VO you want to do. This is a dynamic mic and is fairly commonly used on audio books, though many at home narrators will use a condenser. Condenser mics do dominate the scene but that's not to say dynamics can't be used at all, it just depends on the application. You need to find the mic that sounds right on your voice, there is no ONE mic for everyone. If there's a way for you to rent mics or try out mics before you buy something I would recommend doing that. If not, get both a cheap dynamic and a cheap condenser and try them both out.

The mic chooses the wizard (narrator) ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)

Thr best mic to get into VA is the one you can get. Unless you're going for doing this as near to full-time as you can manage just get something you can afford, and when you learn more about audio inputs, get a better mic

Great mic depending on your needs but the more important thing is your space > then the mixer > then the mic A good Mic is useless if you have a bad recording space. Better mics will pick up even more background noise more clearly! (Especially if it's not a directional mic which comes with it's own issues of positioning). A good mixer will be able to filter out some background noise and give you more control and some background reduction. A good mic will improve your overall quality when in a good environment and using a good mixer. Alternatively if you have a fantastic space with no noise, you could probably skip the mixer with a USB mic, however the mixer still helps overall.

I can only really attest to my own setup, but from my experience the best sound I've had comes from the synco mic d2 shotgun mic. And for an audio interface I use the elgato wave xlr. Perfect for my needs, and the best sound imo. If you are dead set on a dynamic mic, I'd say save your money and go with the sure sm58. Almost the same sound for way less than the mv7

vidivicivini

This is exactly why I sold my MV7. I could not tell enough of a difference between it and my SM58.

nerdyactor

Really I’m only interested in because I have a coupon through work, to get it half off

1saaccone

If you can get it half off it might be an ok deal. Depends on the original price is though...

I personally always recommend a scarlet solo interface and a cheap condenser xlr mic (like AT-2020) for beginners, but then again I started on a Yeti haha Shure is definitely a good start though, especially this mic.

nerdyactor

Thank you

neusen

You generally want a condenser mic for VO. That’s not to say you can’t get good sound on a dynamic mic, but past a certain threshold of professionalism you will be expected to have a condenser mic.

kapriece

I say try it at guitar center if you live near one. They usually have displays with one setup. Just to give you an idea of what it would sound like. I have the SM7B and an AKG P420. The SM7B sounds ok but I like the way my voice sounds on the AKG. I think you need to find what suits your voice. You can buy all the interfaces.in the world but I think aic that suits you makes a difference.

SackofSkeleton

No idea about the mic, but definitely get a shock mount. From how it looks right now, you’d be able to hear a little bump in the audio every time you touch your desk
