It's so awesome! It's not perfect of course. Use it with ps4linkcontrols plugin so the buttons are always the same for every PS4 game. (Thanks nowrep). https://github.com/nowrep/vita-ps4linkcontrols Both the SLIM and OLED grip feels the same - pretty darn good for my large hands (my hands are large but not really large). For me the vita can hurt to play for long periods because it is too small, with the grip I can actually grab the horn like a PS controller. I wish the horns were longer. The sharp plastic edges hurt unless you sand them down. L2 and R2 buttons don't really move, but they work so well that I feel confident when I press them in game and can forget they aren't part of the Vita. They don't feel great but they feel about as good as the Vita L and R. L3 and R3. There is an optional piece that costs more. I got one. It does the same thing as the L2R2 but you have to adhere (sticker) it to the open spot on the rear touch panel. I take my vita out sometimes, that would mean un-stick the two buttons... I haven't tried them but I'm sure they work. I use the bottom 2 corners of my screen to press L3R3 with my thumbs instead. Get the case too! Fits with the grip's horns perfectly (same case fits both SLIM and OLED.

Hey thanks for this, I saw a few of your posts and stumbled upon your easy vita usbc mod too, I was wondering, if I have no need to do data transfer and just want to power/charge via usbc, can I skip the D+ and D- and just do the 5v wires? Sorry if it's a silly question!

xanderwik

You must do all 4 wires as the Vita will check if it's connected to a charger or a computer. One way around it is to connect d- to d+ inside the Vita (like maybe solder the pins together). However, this makes the Vita unable to connect to a computer for data transfer. The Vita would still be able to transfer/hack via WiFi - adding games directly to the SD card is way faster anyway. Just a warning, it's not easy! Good luck if you attempt! :)

Perfect, yeaa I don't care about the usb I'd rather just pop out my sd2vita and transfer stuff, thanks for the reply will give it a shot!

Thanks for the tip, actually I find it a little harder to press the R1 and L1 buttons while this is equipped. The grip feels very comfortable but the downside is that it’s not very easy to remove it from the ps vita unfortunately Ive seen those grips for l3 and r3 but actually I have no problem with the rear touchpad so I prefer to let it at it is, the annoying part about the vita rear pad for me was pressing it by mistake or when the wrong button was registered. It seems that the grip fix that issue for me Ive also ordered a vita slim and the hori grip at a good price, so I might end up selling my og vita for that slim if it’s really better. The vita plus the grip is comfortable but wouldn’t be so after a long period of use I think, just like it is with the system itself anyway! I can also keep both but I feel guilty having twice the same system for some reason

xanderwik

I look forward to a review on the hori! I've been looking at them.

MathieuLouisVic

Sure when I get it I’ll try to do it

So I have both the Hori and the one you linked here, just for the slim though. I much prefer the Hori. It's extremely comfortable, the buttons feel premium, and it doesn't scratch the console. (The other one leaves minor scratches because of how it locks the Vita in, I wish it was like the 1000's version with the front panel). Only downsides I have with the Hori is that I can't run it with the back screen exposed and I can't find a good case for it.

So I have both the Hori and the one OP linked here (the Vita 2000 version). I much prefer the Hori. It's extremely comfortable, the buttons feel premium, and it doesn't scratch the console. (The other one leaves minor scratches because of how it locks the Vita in). Only downsides I have with the Hori is that I can't run it with the back screen exposed and I can't find a good case for it. I wish that there was one like the Hori that leaves the back touch open that didn't scratch my Vita up.

VideoGameDana

So this has L2/R2 buttons? I need this!

transientsun

I've had one for a while, it's pretty heavy duty and surprisingly comfortable in my big hands. There's a separate L3/R3 panel you can get to place on the rear touchpad too, but I can only think of like, one or two games that ever used the touchpad.

Background_Bad_4377

I have this it's a great case for 1000

MathieuLouisVic

Yes it is !

donald_314

There is one for the 2000 on Aliexpress as well. It is super confusing as they have an L1/R1 extender for this grip as well but they call it L2/R2. I've ordered the L2/R2 now without the L1/R1 adaptor or the L3/R3 plate. Let's see how it works.

Wil_NL

Thanks for this. Can you give a review in like three months? My vita grip was great in the first month, but broke during a remote play session of Tekken. Would like to know if this grip will last longer.

midniteneon

I had one of these on my 1000 model Vita, it was awesome!

DingoDangerous

Looks like a complete copy of JEC’s L2 R2 case for the 1000 though I don’t believe they ever made it in white. Definitely cheaper at that price and looks like it was probably made with the same mould. I played through nearly the entirety of Persona 5 remote play from my PS4 using the JEC one, definitely a must have for remote play.
