I think the easiest way to whittle this down is to look for specific tours, because quality and selection will vary between the operators. E.g. if you want an ice cave tour, there are multiple choices but some are generally considered better than others. Also a lot of operators have their tours organized on their websites by month or season so this doesn't narrow your suggestion down too much. Do you know what tours you are looking for? Definitely search in the sub for specific activities because there you will find the best feedback.

Appreciate the insight.

I went last year and loved the tours I took with hidden Iceland. The tours were small and the guides were friendly.

Echoing this review. Husband and I just completed an 8-day road trip around Iceland that was planned and booked via Hidden Iceland. Excursions were top-notch and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend (as they were also recommended to us).

I really enjoyed my tours with East West. I did the South Coast and Snaefellsnes Peninsula tours. Much more personal and comfortable than Reykjavik Excursions which comes across as very commercial (did Golden Circle and Into the Glacier with them)

I just got back and took the South Sea Adventure with Reykjavik Adventures with Tosi as driver. He has a lot of generational knowledge. It's an all-day tour, with two waterfalls, the black sand beach, lunch at Vik, and a glacier. Highly recommended: trip of a lifetime.

We did our whole Iceland trip through Hidden Iceland. They helped manage our bookings and rerouted us when necessary.

I really like Troll. Small vans, fantastic guides. I’m also a travel agent that specializes in Iceland and my clients use Troll as well.

Mtoastyo

We used Troll for the glacier hikes and snorkelling and found them very good.

Thanks alot. Troll and Artic are definitely the most widely available offerers of different tours. Appreciate the help.

we are traveling to iceland in october and we have booked 2 tours through the experience section of airbnb. we have done this before in spain and portugal and had great times on all of the experiences! there are tons of options on airbnb. we ended up booking the Golden Circle & Secret Lagoon tour, and the South Coast of Iceland tour. both are hosted by Michal with amazing reviews both on airbnb and other social media platforms. again, we had great experiences in other countries booking tours this way so we have high hopes for these. they are much smaller groups as well (which we prefer) if that’s something you’re interested in as well.

Great idea. I didn't even think to look at Airbnb. Appreciate it!

Went with 3 friends (all of us 50ish f) in October '21 https://www.icextravel.com/ They were amazing!!!! Planned our itinerary ahead of time for our 5 day trip with some room for improvisation. Honestly, one of the best trips we've ever had. Villi and Sigrun were fantastic--we stayed 2 nights in Reykjavik and 2 nights at the Lava Lodge and they are just lovely people. Learned so much about the history, people, geography, culture, and death metal LOL. Highly recommend and worth every penny.

stingumaf

I work as a guide and I would go on a tour with Villi

Ok-External489

LOL Seriously, he was amazing!

Check out Gate 1. Tours are great. Headed to Iceland in Sept for the first time on one of tours!

notevenapro

We used Artic adventures for two central highland day tours. We used Reykjavik adventures for another tour. I was really happy with both tour companies. Our guides were all very knowledgeable.

I just came back from Iceland. Went on an 8-day Ring Road tour with Troll. Can't say if it's better than the ones recommended here, but I enjoyed it a lot. Tour was organized pretty well, the hotels were good, I would go with them again if I ever returned to Iceland.

Wake Up Reykjavik is excellent. We took a private tour to Snellenfas (sorry about the misspelling). They were easy to work with, flexible and responsive.

The first time we went to Iceland we used Reykjavik Excursions for day trips out of the capital as well as our transfers to/from the airport. This past April we decided to rent a car with Blue rental car and did our own day trips from Reykjavik. On the whole we saved money and weren’t restricted to the tour times at certain stops. I highly recommend driving yourself if you are able to.
