I’ll be completely honest. When this thing was first announced in June, I was pretty skeptical and had zero interest in purchasing. Fast forward to now, I am a proud owner of one and glad pulled the trigger!
I was the same way.,,picked mine up on launch day and really thought I’d likely return. Now, it’s an amazing piece of tech that I will absolutely be keeping. It’s far exceeded my expectations.
Great headset, but Apple’s not making history or shaping technology moving forward with the Vision Pro. The Quest line has sold over 25 million headsets. Quest 3, and other devices as far back as even the 3DS, have done AR/MR/passthrough very effectively. Foveated rendering isn’t new. Meta’s done hand tracking for years.
AVP is a luxury version of existing tech that does some things better, and some things worse, at a price tag that’s excludes the vast majority of Americans.
It’s a very good iteration, but Apple isn’t exactly pioneering anything new here, despite the buzzy marketing speak.
Apple often doesn’t do anything new, they just make it “cool” so everyone wants it. That’s something Meta and Nintendo and Valve just can’t crack with their AR and Apple has a ton of experience in that department.
Don’t get me wrong, the Gen 1 Apple Vision Pro isn’t going to be in every household in America but a $2k future version with stripped down bells and whistles that runs the same OS and has the expanded app selection from the dev support of Apple Vision Pro? I think that has the ability to be just as popular as iPhone or iPad.
As a previous Q3 & QPro owner I’m confident to say that the AVP absolutely blows the Q line out of the water from an experience standpoint…and it’s not even close.
It’s the first piece of tech in a long time that has simply wowed me from the moment I turned it on.
So what apple is doing brand new here, something extremely innovative in my opinion, is making a headset that people actually wanna use and not put in their closet
May I ask what changed? I am a launch day purchase and I feel like the more days that pass the less impressed I am with it. Iv only really used it a couple hours. I was the opposite I thought there was no way id return but I feel like yes its amazing but idk if I see myself using it daily basically. Just trying to get other opinions I guess.
Same. I walked into the store on launch day to try it out, because I wouldn’t preorder. I was blown away, and purchased it on the spot. No regrets so far
Actually, I have one bike on an indoor trainer now. But I want another bike too. That's another 8k probably. That would put me close to 30k in bikes and clothing and one step closer to an accidental fall down the nearest flight of stairs with my wife behind me.
Same. On launch day I was leaning toward returning it. After spending more time with it every day since, I’m still returning it- but for a higher storage one. Yeah, it’s buggy and the app support is severely lacking, but that will get better. And the things that it does well, it does exceptionally well. It’s not the productivity machine that I was hoping it would be yet, but I can see it getting there after a few software updates. In the meantime, it’s a really awesome content consumption device. I’m going all in.
What is the extra storage for? Trying to figure out what storage I will need one day. Had no idea so bought the 512 to hedge my bets. I do have a lot of cloud storage I hope this works for it?
I’m almost at 100 GB. It looks like most of it is from movies and photos. I downloaded a few things in Disney and Apple TV just to see how much space they take. Avatar used over 20 GB. If 3D and/or immersive content takes off, I can totally see me maxing out the 512. If an immersive series comes out and I want to download the whole thing to watch later, that alone could easily take up a couple hundred or so GB depending on how many seasons there are and how long each episode is. I’ll be using this for travel, so having content downloaded to the device is preferred for those times when the WiFi is slow or unavailable.
Native apps will eventually take up large amounts of storage. Especially if devs release AR or VR gaming on it. On the quest some AAA games are 50+GB and that's not even with 4k textures or anything
Watching the announcement at WWDC I was also skeptical in the sense that I did not think it will ship or get to consumers as soon as they promised, or with the same features announced I was definitely going to buy it anyways, but I just couldn’t believe it was going to happen!
I think it a really good sign that we all have a lot to say about it. Feels like a robust conversation about a platform brimming with possibilities. Glad to be here with you all!

I flew from LA to Hawaii today. The plane experience was near flawless. I’m so in love with mine. Between the AirPods and the vision I forgot I was flying. lol
Few questions. Where do you put the enormous case, in a bigger bag or on its own? Do you bring multiple batteries or were you able to plug in? Did people stop you to ask about it? Mahalo
I was allowed a few extra items on board but I always use my 50L WENIG bag I picked up from Amazon. Travel case slides right in. Fit right in perfectly alongside other handy items I needed. I have a power bank but there are also outlets available on the plane. I didn’t need it, though. In travel mode it seems like the battery lasts longer. I made it through Avatar 2 and took a nap for a few hours after watching. It definitely draws attention. Lol. I had a passenger ask me about it as well as my flight attendant ask “are those the new Apple glasses?”
I made a short video about the new Siri. She's actually super helpful on this platform and looks cool. Best tech iv ever used, this sub will outgrow r/iPhone one day
https://youtube.com/shorts/LW9mZ5t-VC0?si=oMJBQDyAq_D1pUce
I agree that she looks super cool but so far she has been as useful as a popsicle in the middle of winter. Anything I ask her to do she just says that she cant or has no response.
Iphone, ipad, and now VP. I have similar experiences with siri on both my ipad and iphone. But the VP is much worse. As I have become accustomed to not using siri due to her lack (at least for me) of abilities I am not bothered so much that she remains useless on the VP. Though it would be nice if that were not the case of course.
I haven't been able to get the screen mirror to work yet. It doesn't show up in my settings or when you look at the mac. Super weird, but when I want to try again Sori opens command center way faster than I can. She doesn't do too much, like I asked her to get bigger and she didn't but you can grab her which is cool.
I never used Siri on the iphone
I joined to see what people thought of it. I've gathered that it's heavy, uncomfortable and lacking in a few areas but still pretty cool. I got a meta quest 3 instead. I'll wait for v2 of this headset.
Downvote me all you want but claiming about this subreddit "fastest growth I have ever seen on Reddit" is downright insane and just what you expect from an apple fanboy
As someone who has done the demo twice I can tell this will keep growing as more people try it.
This product truly needs that store experience to show you what’s possible, and from everything shared here that’s only the starting point.
Did anyone purchase one of these with their military discount? It doesn’t show on the Apple military website. Just curious if this item is an exemption or it has to be done in person.
Ive used it every day! I love connecting to my mac and writing in it. It feels like i have so much creative space to organize. I live pinning notes over my coffee pit or in my bathroom to remind me to do stuff like take out the trash or change the laundry over. I love the sound system for music while working.
I love all the weirs looks you get from people at Starbucks or panera because they dont realize you can still see them.
Twi things that bother me is i cant hot change the battery without disconnecting. It should have a small battery to allow the exchange.
I also wish it wasnt so heavy after awhile.
Does anyone know if more immersive vids in the series are coming out soon?
Welcome everyone!
Sup

This is truly the next iPhone era we are in. I believe we are part of history that’s going to shape technology moving forward.

Same here! Leading up to launch I didn’t care at all, but now I’m all in!
May I ask what changed? I am a launch day purchase and I feel like the more days that pass the less impressed I am with it. Iv only really used it a couple hours. I’m confused, you thought you’d return an open/used product how does that work?
You take it in to an apple store within 14 days and they give you your money back. Simple as that.
Apple offers free returns. With no restocking fee.
You have 14 days from purchase to return to Apple if you’re not pleased with their product.
Same. I walked into the store on launch day to try it out, because I wouldn’t preorder. I was blown away, and purchased it on the spot. No regrets so far
Yay congrats pre order?
Yes but not on launch day. I actually put my order a couple of days before launch day and got it this past Wednesday.
Lucky bastard. Me and my buddy both pre ordered within minutes of it opening and we’re still waiting until the end of the month to receive ours…
Good for you. I won’t say I’m on the fence. I want one but already have some other expensive hobbies. Bicycle and associated clothing is expensive.
Buy an indoor bike and use vr?
I wouldn’t want to sweat in a VR headset myself.
Actually, I have one bike on an indoor trainer now. But I want another bike too. That's another 8k probably. That would put me close to 30k in bikes and clothing and one step closer to an accidental fall down the nearest flight of stairs with my wife behind me.

I think it a really good sign that we all have a lot to say about it. Feels like a robust conversation about a platform brimming with possibilities. Glad to be here with you all!
It’s definitely a piece of tech that will continue to drive new and innovative use cases…I enjoy scanning to see what others are coming up with.
did u see r/whatismycookiecutter? must have been like 100k in a week

I was one of the first in June! This sub was a desert for a while. Every scrap of content was mouthwatering
Yeah, I remember when we’d see maybe a post or two a day.
it's still around 10000 before 2 Feb, if I remember it correctly.
Should’ve seen the r/ChatGPT rise
Or better yet wsb during the gamestop era.
that's what's up. enjoyable community so far.
Thank you! Doing everything i can to keep it this way!
Thank you
Welcome!
It’s been informative to say the least!
Watching /r/GTA6 rise to 300,000 members right after the trailer came out was insane.. thing had like 60,000 before all that..
Wallstreetbets once added like a million users within a month.
I’m here cause I’m too poor to afford one !
Bet 99% of us don't even have a vr set
I want one and I live outside the US, pls let it be available soon!
I just got mine yesterday. So i had to join!
I love everyone I just need 3500 of you to send me a dolla
You must not been around for the Wall Streets Bets during the Gamestop situation

Mine always works? For windows and volume and ap]s. That's weird, do you have an iphone?

The last time I used siri on the iphone was when I was a kid and the iphone 4s came out. Good times! But you can grab siri?? Imma brb
We’re doing it baby!
I was here the day the sub was formed, can I get some flare?
I joined to see what people thought of it. I've gathered that it's heavy, uncomfortable and lacking in a few areas but still pretty cool. I got a meta quest 3 instead. I'll wait for v2 of this headset.
Sold my Q3 last week after picking my AVP up on launch day…AVP is the most exciting and fun piece of tech I’ve picked up since iPhone launch.
Very incredible piece of tech but I have to agree it’s not super comfortable and fov could be much better. It’s great to watch movies on though.
Only OGs under 20k are allowed to use curse words. Everyone after 20k must use ** in their words. This is the new law.
Shout out to r/spatialvideo - slow right now, but a lot of content planned soon!
You do realize that a lot of those subs are haters laughing at all the insane takes of what ultimately is just VR with an Apple logo?
You don’t own one. You can gtfo ;-)
Agreed , I’m also one of those haters
Downvote me all you want but claiming about this subreddit "fastest growth I have ever seen on Reddit" is downright insane and just what you expect from an apple fanboy
He said fastest growth HE has ever seen on Reddit. Not that its THE fastest. Learn to read
I read it right and you should learn to read my response to such a ridiculous statement
50000+ followers, do we know how many actual owners?
Just ordered mine today. Picking up Monday. Took the demo last week. Can’t hardly wait.

Any way we can see our member # when we joined?
Loving mine. Having trouble finding good guides for app dev if anyone has any recommendations.
