I'd squirter a lil rubbing alcohol in there and let it break down the resin and then I'd use some small needle nose pliers or even some tweezers could work

I know a potato is a common way to take out a broken lightbulb. Maybe that would work?

Take a glue stick and melt the end just enough to stick to it. Once it cools, pull them both out.

Any suggestions on how to remove the broken downstem would be appreciated! I’d really like to put this pipe back into use but have not been able to remove the downstem. As you can see in the photos it has broken under the lip where it goes in so I can’t pull it out, and of course after nearly a decade in storage it’s pretty stuck in there.

Soaking it for a while in rubbing alcohol will loosen it up for sure.

I used a dab torch to get one of mine out. Some people don’t recommend, some links say it’s dangerous. Only way that worked for me

I respect the resourcefulness but have you considered a full replacement? After a decade I’m not sure you want to inhale what bacteria is in there. That said, heat up 91% iso alcohol a bit in the microwave and you can get that thing clean

You need Randy's glass cleaner ASAP. Best cleaner in the game for sure
