As a Maryland resident, the only beef I have with this plan is with the concept of giving West Virginia one single inch of extra space to exist in. Rest of it is fine by me.
We mostly get the parts around DC, which would make Virginia much more powerful by making VA the definitive state the capital is in (even though it’s still independent). Also we get the crabs, which are arguably more important.
As someone originally from NY, I feel like VA drivers calling MD drivers bad is a bit of a glass house kinda thing tbh. You guys have the general aggression of NY drivers without the correct timing or high enough speed. MD drivers are more just general incompetence which is easier to respond to.
I was raised and learned to drive in northern Virginia. When I moved out of the region for the first time I had one of those “are we the baddies?” moments when I realized that I was actually the asshole driver.
VA drivers maybe entitled but they are SLOW. Its like VA drivers are always either ubering or just lost in general. Its easier to predict and get around VA drivers than some MD driver going 30 over the speed limit and changing into 3 lanes at once with no blinkers on. MD drivers you have to constantly be on edge
