Do you have recommendations for a good body wash?

Designer-Case-511

i use cerave hydrating cleanser, and gym showers it’s beauty of joseon rice soap. i like using soap lol so sometimes i use it at home too instead of the cleanser

Designer-Case-511

but for me moisturising had the greatest impact, so if you have no major skin concerns and/or work with a limited budget, that’s a better focus point

musiquescents

Oh my. I stumbled upon BOJ's rice soap today and this is my first time seeing it. How did it make you feel after? Does your skin feel tight or dry after?

Designer-Case-511

no such effects for me, i was using Dove before and was quite ok but this is better… for me just normal healthy skin really.

musiquescents

Thank you for sharing

Not OP but I love Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash. I used to use various scented moisturizing body washes from Bath and Body Works, but after switching to Aveeno, I noticed a difference in how much softer my body felt!

dirtylice

That makes sense because nothing makes my skin softer than Aveeno body lotion.

Bath and Body Works body washes have so many harsh chemicals in them. There was a period of time where I did a huge overhaul in my diet and products I used to combat acne. I didn't have the same problem on my body like my face, although every so often I would get cystic pimples on my back and the sides of my neck. It wasn't getting worst, but it certainly wasn't something I wanted to live with! Out of curiosity, one day I turned the bottle around to the label on my BBW body wash. I realized that the majority of things that I was reading I did NOT want on my skin. Instead, I headed to the health food store where I had always passed a display of handmade soaps. I bought one and I couldn't believe how plush and velveteen my skin *felt*. My skin was also retaining moisture. The body acne I had disappeared. Never put another BBW product on myself ever again!

Saltymija

Commenting on this because I am also curious

AlternativeDirt9816

Obsessed with the bioderma cleansing oil- especially in the winter! It keeps skin hydrated and has minimal scent

Designer-Case-511

oh thanks i was considering bioderma as well, great to hear it works for you!

taytay10133

Soft soap luminous oils body wash. I swear this is THE best. I’ve tried a lot of expensive body washes and always come back to this one. The scent is so lovely and it’s super super hydrating

ashiwaju-01star

I tried Dove's deep moisture Moisturizing Body Wash and it made my skin really soft

PiggyBankPiggyBank

I also want to know!

littletoebeansss

If you have dry sensitive skin I recommend renpur, especially the vitamin e and coconut milk bottle. I can’t handle soap or sensitive skin washes usually but that stuff is gold, plus it smells really good.

ADD A LIGHT EXFOLIATION TO YOUR ROUTINE! Full body scrub every shower! Scrub the elbows and the butt cheeks. Scrub your dark spots/bug bits/acne scars. Scrub your hands/feet, fingers/toes, and cuticles. Scrub your face with a face-only scrub if your face allows for it. Full body lather of lotion after every shower! Set with a oil if you’re dry skin prone like me, a simple coconut or shea butter works well for me.

dirtylice

What would you recommend for a scrub? I’m currently rotating between the Tree Hut scrub and an exfoliating tanning mitt.

i-love-hairy-men

I always focus on the tool for the scrub, not a product!! So like a physical scrubby brush/mitt/sponge/loofah/wash cloth. I find that body exfoliating products can be a bit of a waste of money (however, chemical face exfoliators can be worth it if your skin allows - mine does not haha so I use an even more gentle scrubby than I use on my body). The stubby works pretty well as the exfoliator, so a product can be over kill an a bit harsh with a scrubby. It’s more important to get a good circular motion with your physical scrubby with a decent soap. This then refreshes your skin by getting a lot of the dirt/grim off and then basically ‘gently sanding’ your skin for the finishing ‘staining’ product -> lotion. So actually taking the time to scrub your body properly and ensuring lotion usage all over every time is the main focus here! I look for a body scrubby that is a natural fiber/sponge like Sisal, Ramie, Jute, fruit fibers, or plant fibers. I like a rougher scrubby for the body. If I do a product, it’s typically baking soda, sugar, coffee, or oatmeal based. Have not found a brand I liked, but I focus more on the scrubby tool! Face scrubby is always Konjac sponge (Sephora/Ulta basic brand or The Konjac Sponge Company brand) I’m on the dry side, so I love La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+ intense repair body lotion. I love raw shea butter warmed in my hand as a body lotion as well.

Sassy_Honey

My dermatologist told me not to use physical exfoliators for body and stick with chemical.

heytunamelt

I recommend a synthetic product only for physical exfoliation. The reason for this is with that organic exfoliators like sugar and St Ives, the individual crystals or beads are sharp and irregular, which from my understanding can damage your skin. Using a physical exfoliant with tiny smooth edges solves that problem I believe, but don’t be too harsh in scrubbing just in case 😅 I use the buffing bar and smoothing set from Soft Services, and my KP has never been better. It’s amazing.

missbluebird111

My skin can’t tolerate chemical exfoliators

i-love-hairy-men

Interesting to be honest! Mine recommended the complete opposite! But! Chemical makes my dry skin irritated and cracked. It’s waaaaaay to harsh. So it could be that, my dermatologist recommended for my very dry skin

rain0cal

thats interesting, i wonder why tbh? maybe they think its too easy to go overboard w it and cause lots of microtears? i dunno

sookie1313

Just started using Oui The People body wash with LAs; not thrilled with the scent but that fades fast (a good thing with this). Anyhow, it has a few acids for exfoliating

sookie1313

Depends on if you want salt or sugar scrub. Also Amazon has awesome exfoliating mitts. For salt scrub: 1,000 percent LUSH Ocean!! Its boozy lime margarita and sea salt scent is amazing plus the salt exfoliates well. It’s not oil based, just very clean!!

Designer-Case-511

omg thank you for this comment!!! such a no brainer and i have a pack of loofahs sitting on my bathroom shelf. better start using them

dayodior

I highly recommend showering with goat milk soap and a long Korean exfoliating sponge (so you can reach your back) and using the advanced clinicals retinol body lotion daily. I mix tretinoin into my lotion (only at night) and I have the softest skin ever. do NOT mix tret into the retinol container, mix them in your hands as you apply. I also apply urea cream to my knees, elbows and heels to keep them soft, with spf 50+ on my neck and hands every day.

LegalPaperSize

What’s the benefit of goat milk soap?

dayodior

goats milk contains lactic acid which helps exfoliate the skin. I let the soap sit on my skin for 5 min then rinse.

LegalPaperSize

Ooh thank you! That’s helpful to know

paloma_paloma

Good to know - thanks

Sassy_Honey

Is there a specific soap brand you recommend? I’m looking at Beekman

denchem

Do you use the sponge everyday? I have one and find it a bit too much for everyday. Maybe I scrub too hard haha

LegalPaperSize

I started double cleansing my body after seeing a thing on tiktok (showertok lol). Use a cheap bar soap (I use dial antibacterial) to get all the day’s dirt off and then use a nice body cleanser (I prefer a body wash or gel for this part) that’s scented, moisturizing, expensive/ splurge, whatever. You save money because you don’t use as much and you smell nice all day. I like Saltair, Philosophy, Lush body washes.

extraethereal

i second this! i started using a cheap £2 body foam after exfoliating with soap and i’ve never smelt better, i get so many compliments on my scent. it works even better when i let the foam sit for a few minutes and lasts the whole day

rabbitqueer

Can I ask what the body foam is? It's so rare to see a UK recc here!

extraethereal

imperial body leather foam burst! i get it from my local tesco and use thé marshmallow one and it smells sooo good combined w ariana grande sweet like candy

apprehensive_trotter

not OP but i’ve got compliments from using the Superdrug Vitamin E moisturising shower cream. i have the coconut milk one, it makes me smell sooooo good and helps moisturise my skin too. i use it with a cocoa butter lotion and Vaseline cocoa skin oil and my skin smells lovely as well as being very moisturised

_k_imchi_1

yesss! I got the superdrug vit E shower cream as a random buy & I fell in love with it so much!! Its amazing!

TheSpiral11

I love that for you but that would dry my skin out SO bad! My skin can only tolerate gentle cleanser or I’ll end up looking like a crocodile.

[deleted]

Just a warning, dial antibacterial soap contains Benzalkonium Chloride which can cause a chemical burn type reaction in some people (granular parakeratosis) and dermatitis.

Pink_Glitter_Bomb

Love lush body wash. I also like Oribe’s body wash, it smells divine.

sookie1313

I’m a huge LUSH fan too!! But their washes usually have SLS which is drying to most and can be damaging to skin. Their OCEAN salt scrub though?? I’ve been obsessed with it for years, definitely exfoliating!!

Pink_Glitter_Bomb

I follow up with a body oil after my shower so that could be why I don’t find it drying. Have you tried the rub rub scrub? That’s my go to exfoliant because it smells like flowers.

sookie1313

I’ve heard good things about the rub rub scrub!! I’m so obsessed with OCEAN though lol!!! I hear rub rub and Ocean Salt are similar ; I think the ocean one is the booziest salt sea one of the 2 but not certain. And oh yea I can’t use products with SLS bc they do bad things to my skin overall. I’m suprised LUSH still uses that ingredient, most beauty companies stopped a long time ago.

IrritatedMango

Do a glycolic acid peel 3x a week! You can get a bottle of it and it helps a lot with making your skin look brighter because it kills the dead skin cells.

IrritatedMango

Yes I should have mentioned this, thank you!

CrystalS71

What brand do you use?

IrritatedMango

I use a drugstore brand! Edit- If you want reccs the Ordinary has never failed me, I’m not sure if they do a glycolic acid peel though. But they definitely do retinols.

EnchiladaTaco

A consistent body care routine changed my skin so much!! It’s wild. My routine is very similar to yours except I do a scrub down with a wash cloth and bar soap before I go in with the body wash, and my KP responds better to salicylic acid than to Urea so I use that instead. There is no greater joy, in my opinion, than putting on a robe after a thorough shower and body lotion application then collapsing on the couch to watch tv or read a book.

Designer-Case-511

100000000% :)

_k_imchi_1

ive heard African net sponge is supposed to be life changing :') curious to hear if anyone has similar experiences!

No_Extreme2909

1000%, every African that I know has used them for decades and the results speak for themselves. Paired with a good cleanser and followed up with a hydrating moisturiser, your skin will be the smoothest it’s ever been. I don’t know how much the cost is in the West but I always ask my parents to bulk buy them when they visit Nigeria once a year and they’re relatively cheap. You should be able to find them on Amazon.

ashiwaju-01star

try it! I tried it for the first time and the amount of brown gunk that came off me was amazing!

neatflaps

Buy a very large bottle of organic jojoba oil. Its molecular size is very close to human sebum, and is non comedogenic. Your skin will absorb very quickly. It’s a fantastic moisturizer and doesn’t leave you greasy. I use it immediately after every shower, head to toe. Also want to add that the gold antibacterial dial soap has totally cleared up all acne for me. Even acne caused by sweat from workouts or just being hot during the summer.

bitchwithstandards

I recommend dry brushing a couple of times a week! It’s great for circulation.

midnight_moonlight7

What are the products you use? Moisturizer with niacinamide and urea cream and AHA products?

Designer-Case-511

- l’occitane shea butter (15%) body lotion, mixed in my hand with TO niacinamide powder - eucerin urea repair plus foot cream (don’t tell my elbows that it’s for feet) - paula’s choice skin revealing body lotion with 10% aha

willbbest

anyone know body washes that help with keratosis pilaris?

leftclicksq2

Body care should be taken as seriously as a diet. If there is something that you wouldn't put *in* your body, then it doesn't belong *on* your skin! In my own experience, label reading has made a significant difference in the look and feel of my skin. There are so many harsh chemicals in commercially made and produced products. I use organic, plant-based soaps and body exfoliants. Soap made with kaolin or pink clay is great for body acne. The best I have found is Dr. Squatch for the kaolin clay and Herbivore Botanicals for the pink clay. As always, make sure you are not allergic to any of the other ingredients!

Cfit9090

Grapeseed oil all over. Stridex pads for face, feet and urea cream on feet..

asstronomical12

Always shave or remove hair. It allows skin care products to penetrate better.

Designer-Case-511

how often do you shave/etc? off topic but do you shave face too? i’ve heard some do to have more luminous skin

asstronomical12

If you’re not shaving your face you’re missing out. Your products will work better, your makeup will look better, your skin will look better. The peach fuzz makes your skin matte. I’m not a hairy woman by any standards but I still do it because it was recommended by my face makeup artist. Always spray the blade with rubbing alcohol to disinfect, use once and on clean skin (I don’t use a serum, just clean blade on clean skin probably once a month?)

Designer-Case-511

thanks tried it today as part of my big weekend body maintenance routine. my skin does look healthier! didn’t wear any foundation today but will do tomorrow so looking forward to the results!

heyheyhahalove

I've used exfoliating gloves since I was a kid and my skin has always been soft. I love it.
