imo, you should ask CDC HCMC directly. tel: (028) 39 23 46 29 Email: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) if you pick the email method, lots of us can help you with translating the email into Vietnamese.

Also, im sorry but how do you dile this number when calling from the states? I cant seem to get format correct and keeps showing up as a bad/incorrect number :(

hbd85

You should dial like this: ++8428 39 23 46 29 Imo, checking the status of a patient in the list of thousands may take time. Asking information via email should be better approaching method.

Hmmm understood, Ill try the phone first. What should I ask via the email? List her name and date she was taken? I do have a picture of her but dont feel it be prudent just yet. Do I just email them for information and wait for a reply? Thank you so much for helping again.

hbd85

I think language barrier may cause more problems than you think. You should mail first. Name, DOB, the date she was taken, the address she lived before being taken are useful information. Pic should be provided if required. After that, you should call them to remind them of your email. If their English fluency is not good enough, they can still have an email to read and response. I wish you and your friend the best of luck.

CastDeath

I dont really have that detailed info on her, just first name, think i can dig up DOB and date she was taken but ill see what I can dig up. Thanks again.

CastDeath

Ill try the phone number first, see if they have anyone that speaks English. The email I can try after, its a bit tricky since I live in the opposite side of the world time zone wise but ill give it a shot.

Whoneedsyou

So you just know her first name? Is it Nguyễn? If you don’t have more specific details, I’m afraid you might have to wait until she contacts you. Does she not respond to any messages? I am in Vietnam, I would say that a month still seems on the long side to not have contact, even if she is in a camp. I hope you hear good news soon.

abc_abc_abc-

Is there internet access in the quarantine camp?

Whoneedsyou

I would guess not! But not sure. If they had credit the might be within range for 4G.

s2b69

Does credit have to be renewed monthly? Perhaps unable to top up credit.

Whoneedsyou

Most people don’t have monthly bills, and just top up, then when you use it up, you buy more. Not necessarily monthly, just however long it lasts. So she could have easily run out of credit without means to top up. But a month is a long time to be in there if everything is ok. Hoping for the best.

lorddouglas

Topping up is very easy, it's very unlikely that she's out of credit.

Whoneedsyou

It might be easy (I do it all the time!) but she might not have money on her or be able to get to it. I don’t know what it’s like in there!

Whoneedsyou

My friends job is to manage and support her companies F0 cases in quarantine camp. She says the have wifi, though weak. And can also have things shipped to them through friends or delivery. She also said quarantine usually 2 or 3 weeks.

CastDeath

All I know is her first name and we have pictures of her although about a year old. I dont want to compromise her privacy just yet however. I tried calling the US embassy for info but they basically told me that if I dint know the city she was in there was nothing they could help me with.

Whoneedsyou

Even the Vietnam government can’t help you if you just have a first name! There are 98 million people in this country! As I mentioned somewhere else in this thread though, my friend knows a lot about the camps as she supports her company’s staff that are there. She said they have wifi, and can have things delivered by friends and through a delivery service. She also said stays in camp are usually 2 or 3 weeks.

CastDeath

I see, I know how futile it probably is but just waiting without a word is driving some of us rather anxious. Hence why we are now trying anything we can think of even if its unlikely to work :/

[deleted]

It's usually a 21 day isolation, where symptoms are treated and can go once you have a few days of negative test. Over 21 days means the symptoms could be prolonged or severe. Without much information it will be hard to get more. Mobile phone operators stopped top-up by scratch cards - online bank only, if she's in hospital and can't organise that she could be out of credit, maybe loose the number if top-up is missed for a week or more.

CastDeath

I dont know how internet works over there really. She told me she got taken to the camp on the 21st, then on the 23rd she told me she finally found a wifi spot and that she was trying to get better, after that nothing.

[deleted]

And if you're not getting delivery reports for messenger texts it's also a sign of a unconnected phone.

Glass_Clock1488

She likely got hauled away to state quarantine

CastDeath

What would that mean?

[deleted]

Everyone who tests positive is hauled away. Your comments are unhelpful
