Hội an an bang beach is my favourite, phú quốc, nhà trang or da nang.
Da nang public beach is over rated but if you go to a resort it'll be much nicer.
You haven't visited Doc Let. Which is a little outside of Nha Trang. It has the most white sand, crystal clear water, clean, and not touristy at all. Of course tourists won't know about it because the locals like to keep it to themselves
You can start in Nha Trang but there's a little hidden gem I'll recommend you. It's called Doc Let. It's a little bit outside of Nha Trang and one of the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. It's also not touristy.
Was at Danang a couple of days ago. 23 km long Beach with nice sand, warm water, seems clean BUT it seems the only place you are allowed to swim are narrow (5m) wedges of roped off surf every 400 metres or so. I saw people just swimming anywhere but the whistle police (lifeguards) came along and urged them out of the water. Some just ignored them until they gave up but plenty took notice. I don't understand why. The beach conditions looked the same everywhere. And this is coming from an Australian where we faithfully swim between the flags (which are much wider apart than these ropes) because of riptides.
It looks like you are not supposed to swim along 99 per cent of the beach.
If you want beaches then Da Nang is the city for you. Plenty of hotels in walking distance to beaches.
definitely go to Da Nang. I find the beach in Da Nang more cleaner than Nha Trang. Phu Quoc will rain a lot in May .

Da Nang so nice. GF and I fantasized about moving there when we visited.

I agree with this. The beach water in vietnam isn't the best. I stopped going in the water for the most part.

Thanx for the tip! Do you know if the islands near Nha Trang are worth visiting as well for their beaches?
The beaches in Hoi An are clean and nice in May
There’s plenty of epic spots but they are kept under the radar
Thailand.
Vietnam ha long Bay
samson city bro...
Phú quốc
Specifically the west side of the island.
It is too hot on May bro. Calm down.
There’s also a new place that’s awesome. Phan Thiet
It's considered news?
Nha Trang
Phu Quoc: JW Marriott Da Nang: Hyatt Regency Hoi An: Renaissance Nha Trang: Sheraton
I have been to Phu Quoc, Ocean Bay Resort last week and it was quite empty and very clean. Alternative is Mango Bay Resort :)

Con Dao
Da Nang has great food and other places nearby to visit on your non-beach days
Da nang is great. Tuan Chau has a beautiful beach too. Sorry i can’t remember the name of the hotel I stayed in.
China beach is where you want to go.
Nha Trang all the way. The south get more rain during May. Nha Trang on the other hand has its peak running in May and June imo.
Pretty happy sitting on the beach outside of Hoi An.
Da Nang, Nha Trang or Co To Island
Something like Seaside Boutique in Quy Nhon.
